**Chapter 2: Exile (8)**

Chapter 2: Exile (8)

==============================

“Exile? Abandoned by whom?” Fu Yetian’s mind was racing with confusion.

Lilith shrugged, her impressive assets bouncing with the motion.

“She only said that once, and when we asked her again, she went silent. So, we named her Number One Exile.”

But Fu Yetian barely registered that, feeling like the puzzle he thought he’d completed was suddenly ripped apart again.

This feeling was downright annoying.

“Maybe our sleeping place is actually the prison that chains us, sapping our powers as a way to keep us calm for an extended period,” he mused.

“Then why not just k*ll you all?”

Lilith chuckled, “If they could k*ll us, they wouldn’t settle for keeping us in a deep sleep, would they?”

Fu Yetian was shocked again.

But then he recalled how the Monster King was literally split into three parts and didn’t d*e…

Wait a second, could that guy actually be the Monster King’s Evil Incarnation fused with his body? His brain had been muddled by too many sudden twists to notice such a simple conclusion.

However, there was still one thing he couldn’t figure out.

Since Thousand Bird City was the prison for Exiles, including the Monster King’s body, and Floating City was siphoning off the energy building up inside them to prevent mutations…

Logically, such a place should be very important for the Human Race.

Having just Thousand Bird City guarding it seemed way too flimsy. The Ji Shen teaming up with White Feather City to breach the forbidden ground was clear proof of that.

Unless, the original purpose of whoever set up this prison was to have it breached one day…

And then…

Fu Yetian’s attention was drawn to a gigantic crater that had been blasted into the ground beside him.

Those undead bodies had been obliterated by the explosion caused by Number One Exile.

So, that meant…

At this moment, Number One Exile had the power to k*ll other Exiles?

No, that couldn’t be right; if that were the case, the Monster King would have already lost.

The only explanation must be that during the long siphoning process in Floating City, Number One Exile secretly stored away part of her energy.

Just waiting for her cultivation chamber to be triggered,

So she could unleash that excess energy and deliver a lethal blow to the nearby Exiles.

And the reason the Monster King and Lilith escaped unscathed was because their connection to the body had been severed during the previous three-way brawl, thus avoiding the explosive energy flowing through the conduit into the cultivation chamber.

Hence, aside from the first two cultivation chambers taken away and the Monster King and Lilith, the remaining seven cultivation chambers were reduced to ash in this explosion.

Looks like his luck wasn’t too great.

If they had opened Number One Exile’s cultivation chamber last, there wouldn’t have been any casualties.

Though this was just his theory,

Fu Yetian felt it was already quite close to the truth.

So, what exactly was Number One Exile trying to achieve by heading to Thousand Bird City?

Why was the Monster King resisting her?

Stuck in Subspace for now, Fu Yetian decided to focus all his attention on these questions; after all, it was what he was good at.

Could it be…

The Cold Moon Witch, the former Demon Queen, was currently hovering over Thousand Bird City.

Number One Exile must have sensed her presence,

And the Monster King intervening made perfect sense; he didn’t want the Demon Queen endangered by Number One Exile’s threat.

That was all there was to it.

But what was the significance of Number One Exile’s existence? Was it just for slaughter?

No way, there had to be some deeper reason hidden in all this.

Fu Yetian furrowed his brows, his gaze locked on the two combatants clashing in the sky.

Lilith sighed, “Fighting isn’t my strong suit. I can handle the average person just fine,

But Number One Exile is clearly a lunatic, and I don’t want to be on the receiving end of a beatdown; even if I can’t d*e, the pain is still very real.”

In the air, Number One Exile slashed with a sword into the Monster King’s right arm, who gritted his teeth and kicked her in the chest despite the pain.

They rolled past each other in a flurry.

The Monster King clutched his nearly severed arm, dodging the onslaught of light swords she controlled while recovering from his injury.

Five seconds later, he was back to perfect condition.

Number One Exile coldly declared, “Get out of the way!

Since you’ve had the luck to escape with your life, why don’t you just scram?”

The Monster King replied calmly, “You can’t go to Thousand Bird City!”

Number One Exile shook her head. “There’s an energy there that intrigues me. I have to go!”

“Well then, I guess I’ll just have to let you d*e here.”

The Monster King stood his ground.

Number One Exile realized that if she didn’t take care of the Monster King, once that energy vanished, finding it again wouldn’t be as straightforward.

It was a pity that the thousand years of energy she had built up was totally spent when she smashed the cultivation chamber, making it impossible to deliver a one-hit k*ll.

But she had her own plans:

If she couldn’t k*ll him, she’d just imprison him again.

With that thought, several sticks that looked like glowing fluorescent lights suddenly hovered around her.

Before the Monster King could react,

The shining sticks began to spin rapidly around him.

The Monster King tried to break free from the vortex,

But the moment his elbow grazed the shimmering path, a jolt coursed through him like a shock, instinctively pulling him back.

Seizing that chance,

Number One Exile shot diagonally upwards, attempting to break free from the shackles of Subspace.

“Oh no!”

Lilith glanced at the Monster King and shouted, “Can you handle this? If she turns her attention to me, I’m surrendering without hesitation!”

The Monster King gritted his teeth, grasping two of the spinning sticks as if reaching into boiling oil.

The intense pain instantly drenched him in cold sweat,

His hands were reduced to nothing but white bones.

Even so, he wouldn’t let go,

And with a surge of strength, he trailed behind Number One Exile.

“Come on, keep up!”

Lilith called out to Fu Yetian.

“Why should I? Do I know you well enough for that?” Fu Yetian replied, perplexed.

What happens to Thousand Bird City has nothing to do with him; not taking this chance to leave would be a real foolish move.

Lilith chuckled, “Do as you wish, but the range of Subspace is limited, so I have to follow them to ensure Number One Exile doesn’t accidentally touch the edges of Subspace.

Plus, we can temporarily remain invisible before her.

But once you separate from me, you’ll immediately become visible, and if you forcefully leave Subspace, there’s a chance you could fall into the gap between two spaces and never have the chance to leave again.”

Though he didn’t know if Lilith was telling the truth,

Fu Yetian dared not risk it; after all, this was his first time seeing Subspace in action and he had witnessed its wondrous effects.

Now, being coerced by that Demon Race girl,

He had no choice but to follow closely behind Lilith.

Before long, he suddenly noticed that Floating City was just ahead.

But in Subspace, he couldn’t see anyone outside at all.

What did the Cold Moon Witch do after he left?

Why was Number One Exile so interested in her?

He was sure he would find out the answers soon.
