### Chapter 2: I’m Truly Invincible (6)
Rescuing Li Ying Tian from the “Licker” wasn’t just a heroic act; it was also to quench Feng Yalin’s burning curiosity.
After witnessing a few cycles of reincarnation, Feng Yalin was dying to know if she intervened, would the cycle temporarily halt, given that not all the players had dropped dead?
So, she decided to hide in the shadows and ambush the first Licker lunging at Li Ying Tian using her backstab ability.
She had prepared herself: if the attack missed or did no damage, she’d simply vanish and make a run for it.
But to her utter shock, the Licker—which could give even Li Ying Tian a run for his money—was cut in half as smoothly as tofu by her single strike!
Was it a trick of her mind?
But no, there it was, lying flat on the ground, no longer flapping about like a fish out of water.
Li Ying Tian’s astonished expression made her feel like the universe had flipped upside down.
Wait a minute… When did this character card get such an epic upgrade?
To confirm if it was sheer luck or her newfound awesomeness, Feng Yalin targeted other monsters.
Holy Smokes! Holy Smokes! Holy Smokes!
As she effortlessly took down those monsters, none of the Lickers could last more than a second against her.
Inside, she was bubbling with excitement, but on the outside, she needed to maintain her cool demeanor—aggravating, to say the least!
Gongsun Ding and the others she saved looked at her with awe, showering her with respect and calling her a “senior expert.”
Those tough opponents they had fought for half a day were dispatched as easily as squishing a bug underfoot.
How could they not be in awe?
Am I really invincible now?
Feng Yalin stared at her hands, baffled.
The power within her felt no different than before. Why was this happening?
But, hey, this is great!
She had no idea she possessed such invincible attributes. Now she could strut around Thousand Bird City like a queen!
Anyone who dared to block her path would get a kn*fe to the face, and they’d remember the might of the Extermination of Immortals!
Suppressing her joy at being unstoppable, Feng Yalin thought: there are two things she absolutely must do now.
First on the list—find Shiyuan.
Since she hadn’t found any clues, this could only be a side quest, not a mad dash.
As for the second matter…
Based on the current situation, after rescuing Li Ying Tian, just as she had predicted, the cycle really did come to a halt.
This meant that the group led by Li Ying Tian must all bite the dust for the cycle to begin anew.
But halting the reincarnation, what good did that do her?
Finding Shiyuan seemed completely unrelated.
After all, she had no fondness for Thousand Bird City. Since she first stepped into this world, the locals had been hunting her down, persecution didn’t stop even in the Chaos Forest.
Later, they blamed the Cold Moon Witch for the attack on the Floating City by monster beasts and even teamed up with White Feather City to launch offenses on Cold Wind City.
What was the point of allowing such a sect to exist?
This time, Thousand Bird City got deceived by a joint scheme from White Feather City and Ji Shen, leaving her feeling quite smug, hoping they’d annihilate each other and remain in shambles.
That would be the best news for Cold Wind City.
But judging by the current state of affairs, the originally chaotic situation was utterly skewed.
Ji Shen’s alliance somehow engulfed Thousand Bird City in a bizarre black mist, and even toyed with the revered sect leader Li Ying Tian like a plaything.
Impressive, to say the least.
And she still hadn’t figured out what was wrong with this mist-covered Thousand Bird City.
However, it was clear that if things continued unwatched, the complete annihilation of Thousand Bird City was just a matter of time.
If that happened, wouldn’t the Ji Shen and White Feather City alliance become ridiculously powerful, threatening Cold Wind City sooner or later?
What she wanted to see was two powers clash, both ending up hurt, maintaining the balance—not one rising above the rest.
After much thought, she decided to give Li Ying Tian a helping hand; after all, she hadn’t yet discovered a way out of the black mist area. Consider it mutually beneficial for now.
She’d keep on the lookout for Shiyuan along the way—settled!
In the foul-smelling tunnel, Feng Yalin pointed at the jade gate behind Li Ying Tian.
“This gate hides the secret of your Thousand Bird City, right?”
Li Ying Tian, bound by the etiquette of having just been saved, felt he couldn’t just keep silent. “Yes, indeed.”
Suddenly, Tan Ziyan’s face flashed in Feng Yalin’s mind.
She seemed quite familiar with this place.
Since both Tan Ziyan and Li Ying Tian were from the same sect, they surely knew each other.
But why hadn’t she been part of Li Ying Tian’s reincarnation?
What was the difference between these two?
Then it hit her like a ton of bricks.
“Is this secret only accessible to the leaders of different generations?”
She waved her hand, “What I’m saying is, only the sect leader can enter this gate?”
Li Ying Tian nodded.
Feng Yalin turned around and slowly said, “I think you should give it a shot at opening it.”
If Feng Yalin hadn’t been there, Li Ying Tian would have already dashed inside.
He had rushed to remove the magical restrictions because he had seen a dark figure slip into the jade door.
In that enclosed space, he wasn’t worried the figure would just disappear before he entered.
Seeing that Feng Yalin wasn’t trying to snatch the secret for herself, Li Ying Tian relaxed a bit.
“Li Sect Leader, what are the conditions for entering this gate?” Feng Yalin suddenly asked.
Li Ying Tian frowned slightly; doubts were creeping in about the Masked Woman’s motives. Was she in cahoots with those monsters?
Did she save him just to get closer and fish for the secrets of the forbidden ground?
“I’m afraid I cannot disclose that.”
Feng Yalin didn’t get angry. “I just wanted to say, you might never open this door.”
Li Ying Tian, however, didn’t believe her for a second. He immediately rushed to the door and began fiddling with something; after a moment, he stood frozen in place.
“What… How is this possible?”
Why couldn’t he open it? He had followed all the steps and methods!
Li Ying Tian abruptly turned around, his eyes bloodshot.
“Senior… how did you know the door can’t be opened?”
Feng Yalin sighed. “Just a rough guess. I suspect the answer lies within the properties of this black mist.”
Li Ying Tian was starting to calm down; as the sect leader, he rarely showed his emotions.
But all the bizarre things happening recently had thrown him off balance.
Feng Yalin continued, “Right now, we must find the source of the black mist to restore Thousand Bird City.”
“Why are you helping Thousand Bird City?”
“I just can’t stand to see it falling apart,” Feng Yalin replied candidly.
After witnessing her power, Li Ying Tian felt a little uneasy.
This was his territory…
However, in a situation like this, having an extra ally wasn’t so bad after all.
But he needed to control the fate of Thousand Bird City, not this mysterious outsider!
