### Chapter 3: More and More Understandable People
Inside Cold Wind City.
The Second Great King, Cold Moon, dressed in white, habitually went barefoot, exposing her enchanting toes.
But at this moment, the attendees had no time to admire her jade-like feet; they all wore serious expressions, lost in thought.
“Everyone, if you have any questions, feel free to ask now. After we leave this meeting, we must follow the rules without any dilly-dallying, got it?”
Although Cold Moon spoke softly, none of the Great Demons dared to take her lightly.
What a joke.
Forget about the Second Great King’s extraordinary abilities, her wisdom and skills were already on another level, and standing behind her was the Cold Moon Great King, a figure as both awe-inspiring and terrifying as a thunderstorm in a field of puppies.
Even though the Cold Moon Great King rarely showed her face, the Great Demons were not about to let their guard down for a second.
Having had the misfortune of crossing paths with her before, the Tiger Demon and Wolf Demon had no idea just how deep the Great King’s power ran.
The last time she appeared, the invisible pressure made them instinctively drop to their knees, leaving only worship and admiration in their minds.
So when Second Great King Cold Moon said this was the Great King’s intention, even if the Great Demons had their doubts, no one dared to voice any opposition.
The meeting room fell silent, and after a while, the Bat Monster timidly raised its hand.
“Uh, Second Great King, do we Great Demons also need to attend literacy classes? I mean, isn’t it a bit… beneath our dignity to mix with the Little Demons?”
Cold Moon sighed, “Currently, in Cold Wind City, I’m the only one who can read and write. This just shows how dire our talent shortage really is.”
“Originally, after considering everyone’s suggestions, I proposed a plan to seize the momentum and expand our victories. But the Great King immediately shot down our idea.
Do you know why?”
Cold Moon scanned the meeting room.
The Tiger Demon and Wolf Demon scratched their heads, indicating that the Great King’s reasoning was indeed hard to grasp and needed clarification.
“Flower Butterfly, you explain.”
Finally, Cold Moon pointed at the only female demon in the room besides herself.
Flower Butterfly rose gracefully, hesitating for a moment before saying, “I believe, based on the Great King’s thinking, we need to dig deeper into this.
Our goal has already been set: to build an equal, happy, and mutually respectful society among the Monster Race.
Achieving this goal requires more than just fighting and killing.
Now, since all the caves have submitted to Cold Wind City, we’re temporarily united, but our behaviors are still pretty much the same as before.
We haven’t yet reached the level of saying goodbye to the old Monster Race cave system.
In this situation, if we blindly expand, what’s the point of defeating the Evil Merman Cave and increasing our territory?
If we don’t pause to build ourselves up, when more caves join us in the future, and the scale gets bigger, it’ll be even harder to integrate.
We’ll inevitably be led down the old path again.
So, just as you eat one bite at a time and walk one step at a time, the Great King must think our current state doesn’t meet her expectations, which is why she ordered us to stop our advances and focus on internal development.
Only through reform and restructuring can we clarify our thoughts and make Cold Wind City truly strong, becoming the beacon for other caves.”
Cold Moon nodded approvingly, “Well said! You must have put thought into this before the meeting.
Anyone else have insights?”
Seven Feathers hesitantly looked at Cold Moon. As a subordinate general, he shouldn’t be too conspicuous; but thinking of the breathtaking demeanor of the Cold Moon Great King he witnessed that day, his heart raced, and he wanted to contribute something to Cold Wind City.
“Seven Feathers, you speak.”
“Yes, Second Great King.”
Seven Feathers stood up. “Everyone, as a subordinate general, I shouldn’t be speaking here, but since the Second Great King has given me this opportunity, I’ll share some thoughts for your consideration.”
“There are a total of one hundred twenty-two Bird Demons in Seven Feathers Cave. While that isn’t many, there are still plenty of issues.
Just like there are many smaller caves beneath the larger one, among those one hundred twenty-two, there are numerous factions, each with their own power.
But they conceal their conflicts for my sake—at least, on the surface.
I’m confident that once I’m out of the picture, they will scatter like feathers in a windstorm.”
“I’ve worried about this before, but then I realized—hasn’t the Monster Race always been this way?
Just like how Seven Feathers Cave is under the Evil Merman Cave, it doesn’t matter who the leader is; life goes on as usual—it’s no different from before.
So, there’s really no need to call it that.”
Seven Feathers paused.
The other Great Demons nodded in agreement; they all had similar situations.
“Although I’ve only been in Cold Wind City for a short time, I’ve spent sleepless nights pondering the words from the Great King and the Second Great King.
While the Great King set lofty goals for us, has that goal truly sunk into the minds of each and every one of us?
What if, just what if, one day, Cold Wind City is invaded and we’re scattered?
Can the remaining ones still uphold this belief unwaveringly?
With our current abilities, I find that hard to believe.
Therefore, the Great King wants us to stop attacking and concentrate on self-development because she wants every member of Cold Wind City to recognize the importance of unified thought.
Even if, one day, Cold Wind City is left with just one person, that individual must strive for this goal for their entire life.”
As soon as Seven Feathers finished, Cold Moon led the applause.
Instantly, the meeting room erupted with cheers, and people looked at Seven Feathers with newfound admiration.
The Wolf Demon whispered to the Tiger Demon, “Dang, didn’t expect this kid to make a splash so soon after arriving in Cold Wind City. We can’t let this slide.”
The Tiger Demon replied, “Yeah, it’s all my fault for dragging my little brother down. He focused too much on my mission and didn’t even contemplate the Great King’s deeper meaning.
Now look, that kid’s made a name for himself in front of the Second Great King.”
The Wolf Demon chimed in, “Don’t worry, big brother. We may be older, but we’re more familiar with the Great King’s way of thinking. Next time, we’ll crush him hard so that he knows who the most loyal and reliable subordinate of the Great King is.”
Cold Moon smiled, “It seems Seven Feathers has grasped the Great King’s intention deeply.
Now, let me address the question posed earlier by the Bat Monster.
Why does everyone need to know how to read?
Let’s not get all philosophical about it first. At least, we should know how to write our own names, right?
We can’t just rest on our past laurels and disregard the Great King’s plans.
Without literary skills, you won’t even be able to write a thought report. What gives you the right to claim your thoughts align with the Great King’s?
Actions speak louder than words; I think we all understand that point.
Starting today, you are no longer cave masters but will all be referred to as captains.
That’s right! From now on, there are no cave masters within Cold Wind City. Anyone, except for the Cold Moon Great King, who dares to use that title is essentially committing treason.
Is this understood?”
“Understood!” everyone chorused.
“Captains are only responsible for managing their subordinates and hold no power of life and d*ath. Even if subordinates commit crimes, everything will be handled by the law enforcement department.
This is the first step toward cave-ification.
Learning to write alongside the Little Demons also proves that while ability may determine status, your personal dignity is still equal.
This fundamental principle must never be challenged.
I don’t think any of you would want to disturb the Great King, would you?”
After the meeting, Cold Moon revisited the proposal, and following the earlier discussion, she gained a fresh understanding of the Great King’s arrangements.
Truly, the Great King, the heights she reached would always be beyond her grasp.
She could only hope her efforts would meet with the Great King’s approval.
