**Chapter 4: Temple (7)**

Chapter 4: Temple (7)

==============================

In the quiet basement, only one voice could be heard.

It resembled the sound of slurping the fruit bits from milk tea through a straw—an utterly spine-chilling noise for any normal human.

Yet, to the Fallen Species, it was like heavenly music.

They stretched their necks, saliva dripping continuously from the tips of their mouths like a leaky faucet, “drip, drip, drop,” onto the floor.

As soon as the Guild Leader gave the order, they would pounce for a feast.

“Ah…”

Firefly gleefully tossed aside the lifeless husk, now nothing more than a skin suit lying limply on her.

Having indulged in the fresh juice, her withered body instantly plumped up, making it seem like her cup size had even increased by one.

“No wonder you were called the Cold Moon Witch, so delicious.

Hahaha, you probably didn’t see this coming, did you? A renowned Great Demon like you, so easily done in by me.

But don’t be sad! I’ve inherited everything from you—your beauty, your power. Even your territory will be the stepping stone that propels me, Firefly, to the top of the world.

Too bad there’s no live streaming in this d*mn world.

If I had broadcasted the reality of draining Cold Moon, becoming the top streamer would have been a piece of cake, haha.”

Firefly was rather pleased with her current condition, squirming her waist; her barely-there outfit compared to earlier felt like a totally different world. Even the Fallen Species, who usually didn’t bother with women, couldn’t help but sneak a few extra glances at her.

She licked her luscious lips, “Seems like I’m still a bit hungry.”

“Don’t rush, I’ll let you guys have the two women after I take a sip from each.”

The Fallen Species erupted in excitement at her words, howling like a pack of overgrown mosquitoes, though the sound that came from their mouths resembled blaring horns.

Firefly elegantly approached the two women, Little Musashi and Jing Feng, sprawled on the ground.

“Two beauties, tsk tsk tsk, you guys really deserved to follow Cold Moon, making it easy for my brothers over here.”

Her mouth shot out again, aiming a thrust at Little Musashi’s neck.

“Thwack!”

“Ouch, what the hell! Why does that hurt so much?!”

Firefly immediately felt a jolt of pain sh**t through her mouth and into her nervous system. Looking closely, she realized her mouth had slammed directly into the hard floor—Little Musashi had vanished at the same time as Jing Feng.

“What the heck? Where did they go?”

Firefly could hardly believe her eyes as she scanned the bewildered Fallen Species nearby.

The Fallen Species were equally astonished, as the disappearance of the two women had been instantaneous, with hardly a sign to indicate where they’d gone.

“Guild Leader, we… don’t know what happened! How could they just vanish like that? If we’d known, we’d have made our move sooner!”

Firefly fumed, “Get searching! They might have a way to escape, but they’re still unconscious, they can’t have gotten far.”

“Yes, yes, yes!”

Watching as the two women disappeared after waiting so long left the Fallen Species boiling with rage.

At Firefly’s command, they turned to rush out of the tunnel.

Especially Li Yi, who drooled the most—he had anticipated enjoying a bit of the women’s fresh bl**d to heal his earlier wounds, only to find himself waiting in vain. Wasn’t this enough to drive him crazy?

“Wah hah! Thinking you can escape? No way!”

“If you entered the Crazy Dragon Guild, you’d better get used to being stuck!”

The Fallen Species zoomed out of the basement entrance like giant mosquitoes buzzing in a frenzy.

Firefly wasn’t overly concerned about her followers’ feelings. After all, the once mighty Cold Moon Witch had been absorbed into her—who could possibly stand against her now?

She wanted to feel the power and skills of the witch for herself,

but suddenly, bl**d-curdling screams echoed from outside the tunnel.

What kind of useless folks did she have working for her, unable to handle two women who had just woken from a faint?

Was she expected to step in herself?

Wait, maybe this was an opportunity to test her new powers.

She slightly closed her eyes, searching for the source of power within her, but after a moment, it seemed as though her body had returned to the way it was when she first became a Fallen Species—only her skin felt a bit fuller, nothing else had significantly improved.

Panic washed over Firefly.

No, this wasn’t right! Had the Cold Moon Witch’s power been too strong that she couldn’t find a way to tap into it yet?

She must be right! She had envisioned the witch descending upon Sky Sword City ten days ago. Although her look had changed—her long bangs covering half her face—there was no mistaking it; this was indeed the witch herself.

And the witch didn’t appear to contest being called “Cold Sister,” indicating her acceptance of the title.

So perhaps she simply hadn’t had enough time absorbing the witch’s powers to truly understand how to command them.

While Firefly was contemplating, the sounds of clashing weapons echoed from the tunnel, ringing “ding ding ding” as they drew closer.

Firefly smirked; even if she couldn’t use the witch’s powers yet, her reflexes and physical abilities had received a massive boost since becoming a Fallen Species. Taking down the Inner Door Disciples who she usually had to look up to would be a walk in the park.

Those witch’s sidekicks were probably nothing to write home about either.

Sure, losing one of the women with strong recovery skills was regrettable, but that was the least of her worries now.

If those few Fallen Species were dead, it didn’t matter; she only saw them as lackeys.

She slowly unsheathed her sword, guessing that the one who would soon appear before her was the dual-wielding woman. Wait a second; didn’t she remember someone whose weapon looked quite similar to hers? Could it be Little Musashi?

Little Musashi and Cold Moon had completely transformed their attire and hairstyles,

plus she’d been too focused on the Cold Moon Witch to observe her closely, only to just now recall there was such a person.

Better stay cautious—after all, Little Musashi had shined brightly during Strong Brother’s livestream; she wasn’t one to underestimate.

Of course, Firefly was not the same as before. It was just a pity she couldn’t tap into Cold Moon’s strength for now; otherwise, she would definitely shock everyone.

She even envisioned the scene where she stomped down hard on Li Hanbo, bursting with excitement.

“Ding ding ding,” as weapons grazed against the railing grew closer.

Firefly coldly smiled, ready to confront whatever came next. But when the firelight illuminated the face of her approaching opponent, she couldn’t help but take two steps back, trembling all over.

“No… this can’t be happening!”
