### Chapter 5: Fallen Species (12)
The moment Liu Fei’ang’s head hit the ground, he still wore a smile on his face.
He was incredibly confident that the woman would accept his surrender, to the point that when he truly faced d*ath in his final moments, he didn’t even know what expression to wear.
In the mere seconds it took for his neck to snap and his brain to shut down, a whirlwind of “impossible, impossible… impossible…” floated through his fading consciousness.
After all those years of effort, was it all for nothing?
Talk about a slap in the face.
Lady, may you rot in hell!
Liu Fei’ang’s awareness gradually faded into nothingness.
With his passing, the entire Thirteen District collapsed, as rooms and streets made of flesh were torn apart, flowing downward like a bl**d-soaked waterfall.
In an instant, this part of Sky Sword City looked as if it had just been drenched in a heavy rain of bl**d, leaving behind a swamp of muck made up of flesh and gore, with only misery left in its wake.
Amidst the chaos, a few puppets, still clinging to life, desperately reached out of the mire but ultimately succumbed to the swirling vortex, their hands dropping helplessly.
Thirteen District was nearly reduced to ruins.
All that remained was a desolate scene, with only the remnants of brick and tile soaked in bl**d—no sign of life whatsoever.
Before long, a flock of crows, vultures, and other scavenging birds swooped down.
Previously, the thick stench of bl**d had kept them at bay, intimidated by Liu Fei’ang’s presence. Now, without any threat, this place became their wild playground.
“Caw caw… squawk…”
With their raspy voices, the battered streets overflowed with birds feasting on rotting flesh.
Liu Fei’ang was defeated!
Thirteen District had fallen completely!
This news spread like wildfire, racing to the heads of the other seven guilds.
The major guilds immediately dispatched their best fighters, eager to woo the mysterious woman who had brought Liu Fei’ang to his knees.
Unfortunately for them, the messengers were still on their way while the enigmatic lady had already vanished from the scene.
Witnesses claimed she soared into the sky and disappeared—it was as if she’d never existed at all.
The guilds, not willing to give up, searched the vicinity for half the day, but after finding nothing, they reluctantly left.
They had no interest in that bl**d-soaked wreckage; places with people held value, while this was more like a giant graveyard. The further away, the better.
Upon returning to the City Lord’s Mansion, the sun had already dipped low.
Lin Nan retraced her steps and carefully slipped through the window of her guest room.
As soon as Little Musashi spotted her, she leapt up excitedly, eagerly taking Lin Nan’s katana before sniffing the air around her.
“Master! You smell really bloody.”
Lin Nan replied simply, “I killed a fallen species.”
Jing Feng, looking concerned, asked, “You’re not hurt, are you? Should I check for injuries?”
“No need, I’ll shower first to wash off the smell.”
Lin Nan entered the bathing room.
In this era, you couldn’t expect much from a shower; thankfully, Lin Nan had built up an immunity to the cold. Even in the dead of winter, cold water felt just as good as warm water to her.
After a quick rinse,
and with Jing Feng adding a full-body purification, once even Little Musashi couldn’t detect a hint of smell, Lin Nan changed back into her usual long pants and shirt.
She sent the two away and lay quietly on her bed, reflecting on the recent battle.
At the critical moment, her skill “Illusory Sea,” which allowed her to control the undead, had made all the difference.
Those puppets, although fully obedient to Liu Fei’ang, still retained a semblance of their original consciousness.
And “Illusory Sea” perfectly activated their instinctual souls, stripping Liu Fei’ang of his control over them.
Having been enslaved for so long, those puppets practically cheered for Liu Fei’ang’s demise, and with Lin Nan’s encouragement, his downfall became inevitable.
Given how Thirteen District ended up, the remaining guilds in Sky Sword City should have had a clear picture of what went down,
but the male player she questioned earlier insisted that Liu Fei’ang’s Storm Guild was the weakest one in the city and suggested she might start her inquiries there.
Thinking back, it was likely a trap set by Li Hanbo.
Though she didn’t know exactly who the Exiles had ensnared in Sky Sword City, she was confident that by visiting each guild one by one, she would eventually wipe out all the fallen beings hiding within the city.
Regardless of whether the Exile would show up,
Lin Nan found herself utterly disgusted by this new breed of beings.
Originally human,
they had forsaken the dignity of being human, consuming their fellow kin to gain extraordinary power.
She had every reason to believe that on the impending day of judgment, these traitorous fallen species would never side with humanity.
If someone like Liu Fei’ang was allowed to grow unchecked, there might come a day when even she could eliminate them entirely.
By then, the judgment day might not even arrive,
and the beings of the Asking Dao Continent would face a threat from the fallen species.
This absolutely could not happen.
“Knock knock knock… Master! Dinner time!”
Jing Feng’s voice echoed from outside the door.
Lin Nan gently tapped her smooth cheek, pulled her thoughts back, and responded, “Okay, I’ll be right there.”
Dinner was again served in the dining area on the first floor near the garden.
Li Hanbo had been waiting in the dining hall; upon seeing Lin Nan, he immediately stood up with a smile, “Miss Lin, are you feeling better? I heard you were a bit unwell at noon.”
Lin Nan glanced at Jing Feng, who nodded slightly.
“Much better, thank you for your concern, Guild Leader.”
“Come, come, please sit! We have a special dish tonight that will definitely surprise you.”
Li Hanbo clapped his hands,
and a chef, wearing a white headscarf, cautiously entered, carrying a covered dish on a platter.
A mouth-watering aroma wafted throughout the room.
Little Musashi couldn’t help but exclaim, “It smells amazing!”
Lin Nan’s face darkened.
Li Hanbo smiled, “I had to go through a lot of trouble; I personally took down dozens of NPCs just to find this one.”
The chef lifted the cover,
releasing a rich, savory smell that filled the air, revealing a perfectly roasted, crisp-skinned duck accompanied by a few simple condiments.
“I heard you love this dish; why don’t you give it a try?” Li Hanbo beamed at Lin Nan.
Lin Nan’s expression grew colder. “Oh, how thoughtful of you, Guild Leader. But I’m really not in the mood for that tonight. You enjoy it.”
“That’s a pity! Is it not to your taste?”
Li Hanbo sighed, “Looks like this chef who can only make roast duck is no longer needed.”
With a gentle slap of his hand on the table, a scream echoed from outside, “Ahhhh…”
Moments later, one of his subordinates walked in, dragging the chef’s head by the hair, bl**d dripping from the severed neck onto the floor.
Li Hanbo scolded, “If you’re going to k*ll him, just do it! Bringing him in is only going to ruin our appetite! Get out, get out!”
