Chapter 5: Spores (2)
The strength of the Muscle Man is closely tied to his body condition before getting swallowed.
If he was just an ordinary person before, then the Muscle Man would merely register as a slightly annoying henchman.
But if he’s a seasoned player who has learned some skills, then the Muscle Man can hit the elite monster level.
These guys not only master the skill set of regular players but also get a serious boost to their physical abilities.
The emergence of this kind of Muscle Man undoubtedly spells a major threat for Strong Brother and his crew.
Fortunately, Cold Little Rain shares a special connection with him, allowing them to retreat to a sturdy corner of a wall, shielding Jing Feng behind them, while fending off the left and right assaults from the Muscle Men.
With swords dancing up and down, along with Jing Feng’s various buffs and automatic health regeneration, the duo managed to keep a stalemate against seven or eight elite Muscle Men.
Meanwhile, Si Yan had already cleared her side of Muscle Men and was now entangled in a brawl with four or five giants, each towering up to ten meters tall.
The Silver Fox excelled in agility, darting around like a gust of wind.
The giants might have moved like regular folks, but they were no match for the Silver Fox, who seemed to toy with them, her claws occasionally tearing into their flesh.
Although giants could heal quickly, this teasing tactic only made them more furious.
As tempers flared with sky-high roars, even more giants joined the fray.
While the Silver Fox zipped about, her maneuvering space grew smaller, until she was finally cornered in a tiny spot.
Surrounded by giants that felt like an impenetrable fortress, she couldn’t break free.
Then something unexpected happened: after some intense activity, Si Yan suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen. Her movements stiffened, and sweat beads slipped down her forehead like a miniature waterfall.
She could no longer maintain her Silver Fox form and, with a thud, collapsed among the ruins.
Her belly had begun to slightly protrude, and this was a crucial moment to see if the little life inside could persist. Her vigorous activity was definitely not good for the baby. If she kept up this wild behavior, the fetus stood no chance.
As the giants closed in around her, Si Yan clutched her painfully cramping belly, completely at a loss.
“Si Yan! Hold on!”
Strong Brother, Cold Little Rain, and Jing Feng fought like demons, trying to drive away the Muscle Men crowding them.
Especially Strong Brother, after countless battles, had perfected his Ten Tyrant Slash. He finally chopped the last roadblock Muscle Man in half.
But the giants weren’t about to let them easy access to Si Yan.
After realizing she could transform into a Silver Fox, the giants were hell-bent on capturing her. Swallowing her and turning her into a powerful underling was now their priority.
“One Sword Style! Ten Tyrant Slash!”
The giant blocking Strong Brother was split in two at the waist, gushing out a river of nasty bl**d from the wound.
He thought that giant was done for, but what happened next sent chills down their spines—it was hard to believe their own eyes.
From the severed giant, heads and legs sprouted from each half, as if the larger giant had simply morphed into two smaller versions of itself.
And shockingly, these two mini giants were just as powerful. After a flurry of blows, they forced Strong Brother and the others to retreat, unable to engage further.
What on earth was going on? Were giants impossible to k*ll? This is outrageous!
As it seemed impossible for Strong Brother and the others to reach the inner circle, Si Yan immediately lost her last shred of hope.
Peering through the gaps between the giants, she saw the ever-burning flames and inexplicably drifted back to the vibrant Sky Sword City.
She recalled the first time she met Li Xiaocong, likely under similar skies where red lanterns lit up outside, and candlelight flickered. Li Xiaocong had awkwardly placed his hands on his knees, not daring to lift his head.
If she hadn’t plopped down beside him, he might still be waiting to say his first word.
It was from that moment on that she had an impression of this heavy-spending but shy young man.
Little did she know that every time he visited, he’d order her, and after seeing the ugly sides of many men, Si Yan was finally feeling the taste of puppy love.
If only time could freeze in those blissful early days when they first met.
As the thunderous footsteps of the giants echoed around her, Si Yan gently closed her eyes.
“My poor unborn child, let’s go to another world to wait for your father, shall we?”
Two streams of tears fell down her cheeks as she stopped remembering and thinking.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Suddenly, from a distance, a series of rapid footsteps came rushing in.
Sky Void City trembled like it was about to collapse any second.
With a deafening bang, a giant barely half a meter from Si Yan was suddenly flung away by a powerful force, crashing into a nearby building and being buried under mounds of rubble.
“Roar!”
Hearing a familiar roar, Si Yan quickly opened her eyes.
A tall, completely n*ked giant stood before her, baring his fangs at the other giants trying to approach her.
“It’s Xiaocong! Li Lang!”
In a moment of life and d*ath for her and her unborn child, it turned out that Li Xiaocong, now transformed into a giant, had emerged to stand guard in front of her.
Tears streamed down Si Yan’s face.
Meanwhile, Strong Brother and the others outside were equally dumbfounded.
After several rounds with the giants, Strong Brother knew all too well that although these giants were once humans, they had lost their human consciousness long ago. They had no desires other than to eat and k*ll.
Yet astonishingly, despite becoming a giant, Li Xiaocong retained his essence and showed through his actions that he would defend his wife in danger.
So long as miracles are believed in, the world surely holds the potential for stirring events.
The giants were now enraged.
“Why should we let someone we worked so hard to catch slip away!”
Three giants charged from different angles at Li Xiaocong. They were just as lithe and sinewy, and after preparing mentally, Li Xiaocong had missed his chance for a surprise attack.
Li Xiaocong wouldn’t sit idly by, though.
Almost instinctively, he launched himself at the approaching enemy, dodging the flurry of punches and executing a spinning kick that scraped the enemy’s head.
The giant spun through the air before crashing into the ground, sending shockwaves through the earth.
But at the same time, the other two giants closed in on Li Xiaocong, attacking from above and below.
Caught off guard, Li Xiaocong found himself locked in a chokehold by one giant, while another yanked off one of his legs, gushing bl**d everywhere.
Si Yan panicked. “Husband! Li Lang! You can’t d*e!”
