Chapter 7: Demon Empress Frost North Snow (7)
==============================
The north wind howled, and snowflakes danced like they were auditioning for a ballet.
Before anyone realized it, a thin layer of snow blanketed the ground.
The just-revived stone statues didn’t charge at the Flowerless Palace folks as everyone had anticipated. Nope, they stood like they were at a military parade, lined up on both sides of the wide steps, transforming their previously held weapons into fluttering black flags that sought to take flight.
Under the fierce northern winds, dozens of the raised black flags flew high, resembling flames licking at the sky.
And it wasn’t just the main hall; even the lonely, desolate underground palace was adorned with countless black flags.
With the sound of flags flapping ominously, the entire underground palace suddenly felt like it had plunged into a raging sea of black flames, all put on display just to welcome their long-lost master back.
The residents of Flowerless Palace and the four male characters were taken aback by this sudden change in the underground hall.
Ren Dan quickly organized a defense around the main hall, especially ensuring the safety of six glowing orbs that floated and swayed in mid-air, through which they could see the fishermen’s dire situation.
Fatty, with his eyes bulging, looked around, his spirits suddenly lifted.
“Got it, got it! This temple must be connected to the Cold Moon Witch; otherwise, how would the moment she shows up, the temple react?” he exclaimed.
But the male character piped up, “Not necessarily.
These black flags are something else; they represent the darkness of human hearts, the silence of eternal night, and even the fate of d*ath.
In other words, no matter who claims victory in the temple, there’s really no winner – everyone ends up dead.”
Luo Ying and White Peach stared at him in shock, clueless about why he would say such a thing.
He was baffled too. Just a moment ago, it felt like something had taken over his body, spilling the beans about the meaning of those black flags through his mouth.
Meanwhile, the Great Palace Master had cut off the last shred of life from the stone giant and now gazed up at the floating Cold Moon Witch, her face lighting up with a smile that looked as if she’d just discovered a long-lost treasure.
But what she said next left Luo Ying and the others dumbfounded while Ren Dan and the gang were mightily pleased.
“Frost North Snow, it’s been a hundred years since our last separation!”
The Great Palace Master smiled sweetly at her, “My sword clearly turned you into a puddle of bl**d, scattered like these snowflakes. How… how did you come back to life?”
Among the crowd, it was probably only Fatty who didn’t grasp the meaning of “Frost North Snow.”
Sure, he remembered watching the live stream where the residents of Thousand Bird City all kneeled and called the witch “Queen Mother,” but like most folks, he was just there for the spectacle, not digging deeper into why she had that title.
However, everyone else in the main hall understood the weight behind “Frost North Snow” quite clearly.
Years ago, after the Monster King led the invasion of the human realm and was defeated by the combined forces of humans and demons, all the accompanying monsters were annihilated, but the Demon Empress Frost North Snow somehow managed to escape and vanished without a trace.
Rumors swirled that Frost North Snow had power rivaling that of the Monster King.
Just recently, she had made a grand comeback, single-handedly taking out Li Ying Tian, the Sect Leader of Thousand Bird City, and claiming the city under the influence of the monster race.
This move undoubtedly sent shockwaves throughout the human realm.
Residents from nearby cities packed their bags and fled, terrified of being snatched away by the legendary flesh-eating monsters.
The name of Demon Empress Frost North Snow and her mysterious organization, Extermination of Immortals, spread through the human realm like wildfire, reminiscent of the Monster King in his heyday.
And then, just like that, the Great Palace Master not only exposed the identity of the Black-Clothed Woman but also dropped a bombshell of news that felt on par with a nuclear explosion.
Demon Empress Frost North Snow had, in fact, once been soundly defeated by the Great Palace Master, who was now grinning widely as Frost North Snow remained silent—an apparent nod to this revelation.
Whatever Frost North Snow’s ability was, Luo Ying had the best insight.
At that moment, everyone, including Luo Ying, couldn’t help but look at the Great Palace Master with a mix of awe and respect.
Ren Dan gave White Peach a disdainful look and sneered, “Second Palace Master, don’t expect to leave here again; so what if it’s the Demon Empress? The Great Palace Master could slay her once, and she can do it again!”
White Peach fell silent.
There’s nothing worse than feeling like your fate is being determined by someone else.
Fatty ignored Ren Dan’s comment and kept mumbling, “Witch save me… Witch must win… Witch save me… Witch must win!”
At this point, Luo Ying had made up her mind.
They could not just sit back and let things unfold.
Though her body still wouldn’t budge, her neck was free to move.
The blizzard outside the main hall grew fiercer; she sneakily glanced at Ren Dan and the others, who were immersed in the standoff between the two divine figures, and leaned toward the male character, whispering, “There should still be a bit of liquor left in the wine gourd at my waist. You’ve got to help me. If I can just get a sip, I can find a way to break free.”
The male character nodded, “I’ll think of something!”
…
Outside the Ling You Palace,
As soon as Lin Nan appeared, it was like bringing the grim reaper to harvest souls, showing no mercy toward the Great Palace Master.
The brutal scene of the Great Palace Master joking while slaughtering a whole island of fishermen had truly infuriated her.
If this person wasn’t dealt with, how could she find solace for those innocent lives lost?
So when the Great Palace Master casually remarked that she had once killed Frost North Snow, she felt nothing — it was all ancient history to Lin Nan, and it had nothing to do with her. What mattered now was to completely eliminate the Great Palace Master and end the schemes of the Flowerless Palace within half an hour!
At that moment, the swirling white snow transformed into black.
When the Black Wind Sword angrily unsheathed, it threw everyone in the underground palace into a one-second freeze.
“Teleport!”
Utilizing that brief moment of stillness, Lin Nan instantly appeared behind the Great Palace Master, bringing the Black Wind Sword down toward her neck with blurring speed.
This was supposed to be a guaranteed hit; even if it didn’t k*ll, it would still deal substantial damage.
Besides, with the double buff of the main hall and the Black Snow, her power was now potent enough to turn two Li Ying Tian’s into a fine mist with a single sweep.
“Ha, a hundred years have passed, and you still haven’t made any progress!”
The Great Palace Master didn’t even flinch.
As if she had anticipated Lin Nan’s arrival, she raised her sword, summoning a web of sword energy to envelop her.
Lin Nan inwardly cursed, realizing the predicament too late.
She quickly abandoned the pursuit and teleported away.
“Boom!” The electric web exploded into a whirlwind.
But just as the Great Palace Master smirked in triumph, she noticed a fresh wound appearing on her neck.
Lin Nan chuckled coldly, “This time, have you made any progress?”
…
P.S.: The Demon Empress is back in action! Where are the votes?
