### Chapter 7: Eating Silent Losses
==============================
Outside Cold Wind City,
Seeing the just-constructed watchtower, which had been destroyed within two days, and the corpses of soldiers scattered among the ruins, Cold Moon felt a pang in her heart.
d*mn that Evil Merman, still as bloodthirsty and ruthless as ever.
But times have changed; Cold Wind City is no longer the timid place that only sought self-preservation like Cold Wind Cave.
With a Great King watching over them, what does it matter how powerful the enemy is?
The Great King is the unshakeable pillar; all they need to do as subordinates is to worry less and let the Great King handle it.
“Evil Merman, since you’ve delivered yourself right to my doorstep, don’t even think about leaving!” Cold Moon shouted angrily.
The Evil Merman laughed wickedly, “A mere Demoness dares to speak so boldly! You look familiar; could you be one of my past bed partners? Hahaha!”
Cold Moon didn’t lose her cool because of the Merman’s taunts; she had waited far too long for this day.
“Second Great King, let me deal with the Evil Merman!” the Tiger Demon stepped forward.
The Wolf Demon was the head of the law enforcement in the city, and right now, Tiger Demon was merely a school gym teacher. Accompanying Cold Moon for an inspection, this was his chance to shine.
Just when the Evil Merman attacked, he couldn’t back down; he had to step up and show off in front of the Second Great King.
The Evil Merman recognized the Tiger Demon and sneered, “Oh, look who it is—the guy who couldn’t even speak properly under my command now dares to strike at me?”
The Tiger Demon roared, “Evil Merman! You’re so notorious, it’s beyond record. We’ve wanted to settle the score with you for ages. Prepare to meet your end!”
Fully aware of how formidable the Evil Merman was, he wielded a heavy two-handed battle kn*fe and charged in without hesitation.
With the Evil Merman controlling the depths of his domain, even a Tiger Demon was only middle-tier, but today he seemed pumped up by some sort of buff from Cold Wind City.
The Second Great King was watching on the sidelines; how could he not be pumped?
“Clang, clang!”
To everyone’s surprise, the Evil Merman caught over ten of Tiger Demon’s attacks empty-handed. Each swing aimed at his arm barely did any damage, not getting through at all.
The Master of Blizzard Cave and others cheered.
He was fully aware of the Evil Merman’s strength; otherwise, he wouldn’t have come along to watch the show.
Moreover, he wanted to see how strong Cold Wind City truly was. After all, they had managed to wipe out the Evil Merman’s domain without mercy, so they were definitely not pushovers.
“Whack!”
With just a flick of its tail, the Evil Merman sent the beleaguered Tiger Demon flying after a lengthy assault.
The latter landed, rolling over a dozen times before crashing into a tree trunk and spitting out a mouthful of bl**d.
Fuming, Tiger Demon roared again and charged, but Cold Moon stopped him with a hand.
“The Evil Merman is brutal; one-on-one, we might not even be his match. There’s no need to talk morals with someone like him; let’s all charge together instead!”
Cold Moon could see the gap between the major demons and the Evil Merman; Tiger Demon was just lucky not to have been killed on the spot. To avoid casualties and defeat the Evil Merman, their only option was to swarm him for a quick win.
With Cold Moon’s order, the major demons dropped any pretense and all charged in unison at the Evil Merman.
As the saying goes, two fists cannot handle four hands; while the Evil Merman was indeed powerful, being swarmed by a dozen opponents proved to be overwhelming.
Several major demons specialized in support roles.
For instance, the Flower Butterfly that could confuse enemies, the Bat Monster that could rapidly inflict diseases, and other Great Demons that could enhance their allies’ defense.
Seven Feathers floated above the Evil Merman’s head, dropping sharp feathers like rain, making him even more flustered.
“b*stard!”
“Boom!”
Under the relentless assault, the Evil Merman roared in frustration and suddenly transformed back to his original form.
The armor that wrapped around him shattered instantly, revealing a giant snake more than twenty meters long and a meter wide, howling into the air.
At that moment, the situation took a turn, and the major demons were sent reeling. Some of the weaker ones were knocked away, landing far into the woods, unsure if they were alive or dead.
Cold Moon could no longer stand by.
She shouted, “Water, come!”
Two major demons skilled in water magic instantly conjured a torrential downpour.
The demons attacking the Evil Merman swiftly retreated, knowing this was the Second Great King’s signature move; the combination of lightning and water was almost unbeatable.
Just as they expected, the accumulated bolts of electricity from the Second Great King struck the Evil Merman directly, causing sparks to dance wildly across his skin and dealing immense damage.
In agony, the Evil Merman thrashed about, his massive body slamming against the ground, causing the area to resemble a landslide, with mud and debris flying everywhere.
Seizing the moment of weakness, the savvy major demons surged forward, unleashing all their attacks on the Evil Merman, and just as victory seemed imminent, the Master of Blizzard Cave finally made his move.
This demon, always dressed in a long robe that resembled sturdy stone, unleashed his power, causing the ground to tremble.
Taking advantage of the chaos, he swiftly pulled the Evil Merman back.
By then, the Merman was back in human form, bloodied and battered but still coherent enough to lean against the Master of Blizzard Cave for support.
The major demons attempted to pursue but were halted by Cold Moon.
She could sense that this rock-like major demon was not just any ordinary foe.
In fact, she had an instinct that his skin was as tough as stone, possibly even immune to her lightning attacks.
She had never seen him before; could he possibly be the Evil Merman’s reinforcements?
“Brothers, they are too many. If we keep fighting like this, we might not hold the advantage,” the Master of Blizzard Cave said.
The Evil Merman gritted his teeth in anger; he never expected that Cold Wind City would gather all the major demons that used to belong to him and that these guys would be so obedient to Cold Wind City.
This was something he couldn’t even imagine before.
“Evil Merman! For today, I’ll let you go just this once. If you’re not satisfied, Cold Wind City is always waiting,” Cold Moon declared.
Ha, Cold Wind City?
These guys dared to build a city in the Chaos Forest?
They seemed to have been emboldened, completely disregarding White Feather City.
Well, I was just worried about not having a chance to meet the Great King of the Split Land, and now you bring your d*ath upon yourselves!
The Evil Merman cackled ominously,
“You treasonous rebels dare to openly defy me and establish a city. The wrath of the Great King of the Split Land will soon envelop this place! Prepare to meet your demise, hahaha!”
How could Cold Moon fear his threats? Including herself, nearly all the major demons burst into laughter.
The Cold Moon Great King had just passed her tribulation successfully; she was a newly promoted top-tier demon, on par with the Great King of the Split Land.
Even if the Great King of the Split Land showed up, who would be scared with Cold Moon sitting in Cold Wind City?
Seeing that Cold Moon and the others remained unfazed and were even mocking him, the Evil Merman spat out a mouthful of bl**d in fury. Just as he was about to rush at Cold Moon to fight to the d*ath, he was yanked aside by the Master of Blizzard Cave, quickly retreating with his remnants from Cold Wind City’s territory.
