### Chapter 7: Exile (3) (Bonus Update)
—
The Cold Moon Witch made her first appearance high in the sky, perched on the back of a Demon Beast known as the Dark Feather Crane. However, the impression she left was one of a lone warrior swaggering in, ready to take names.
Of course, with her overwhelming power, even Li Ying Tian couldn’t last five minutes under her might. Bringing more people wouldn’t do a lick of good; it would only increase casualties!
But in the eyes of the audience, the Cold Moon Witch was still the big boss of Extermination of Immortals. Would it be a little too embarrassing if the big boss did all the fighting? What happened to the Demon-Slaying Squad that had been a fleeting legend in Cold Wind City?
Just then, the gang from Heavenly Sword Sect, led by Ling Xiaozu, showed up on the horizon, and the players gasped in shock. Were they planning to swarm her with numbers?
A significant chunk of the player base belonged to the Heavenly Sword Sect, both inner and outer disciples. Seeing their sect leader here was both surprising and thrilling—not to mention they began to worry for the Cold Moon Witch!
At level 150, Ling Xiaozu was leagues ahead of Li Ying Tian. How did the Cold Moon Witch stand a chance against him? One couldn’t be too sure. Though the Great King of the Split Land had pledged allegiance to the Cold Moon Princess, the only real threat on his side was the Bull Head, and the rest of the little and big demons would be about as useful as wet paper bags against the quality of the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples.
Besides, just moments ago, Master Sister Luo Ying single-handedly wiped the floor with the Great King, drawing cheers and rocking the reputation of the Heavenly Sword Sect to its core. Some netizens in the live streaming room were practically throwing a party to celebrate the sect’s first victory.
The audience quickly split into two camps, with b*llet comments flying across the screen, tension mounting like it was the eve of battle.
It’s no wonder—Heavenly Sword Sect, as the head of the Seven Great Sects, had the strongest power and the largest territory. Master Sister Luo Ying, as the top disciple, was on par with other sect leaders and had a fanbase to match.
With Luo Ying ready to challenge the Cold Moon Witch directly, everyone felt a mix of excitement and dread. The clash between two highly popular NPCs in the world of inquiry was bound to be a visual feast!
But fear lingered too—as two top-tier female NPCs, neither side’s fans could bear to witness their idol fall.
Yet with humans and monsters historically at odds, how could the Heavenly Sword Sect not engage? Moreover, with the Cold Moon being both the master of Extermination of Immortals and a former Demon Queen, just those two titles were enough to warrant some serious hostility from the sect.
Someone piped up, “Didn’t the Cold Moon just save 400,000 NPCs from Thousand Bird City? Doesn’t the Heavenly Sword Sect see that?”
Ha! What a naïve question! Once you pick a side, it’s like wearing rose-colored glasses—people never view the other party’s actions fairly.
Bias comes naturally; it doesn’t fade with age or wisdom. All they want is to see what they want to see. Truth be damned!
And let’s face it; how many players genuinely supported the cause of Extermination of Immortals? Most just thought the Cold Moon was pretty and wanted a piece of her dramatic flair—a bunch of shallow fans, honestly.
Instantly, one player quipped, “Dude, we’re just playing a game, lighten up!”
Oh, the irony!
Even now, there are folks treating “The Way of Inquiry” like a free-for-all playground? There are rules, even in a game world!
Moreover, these NPCs were beasts of their own; they weren’t just something to toy with!
The squabbling in the live stream fizzled out, but plenty of onlookers shifted their focus to the imminent battle between the high-profile NPCs.
But to everyone’s surprise, the Cold Moon Witch didn’t respond to Luo Ying’s challenge at all. Instead, she leaned back, cozying up on the warm feathers of the Dark Feather Crane, seemingly unfazed by the threatening presence of the Heavenly Sword Sect.
Could it be… the Princess Witch has a trick up her sleeve?
Just as this thought crossed everyone’s minds, a series of “whoosh” sounds echoed from above.
In the blink of an eye, three teams of warriors, twelve per squad, appeared right before everyone’s eyes.
They knelt before the Cold Moon Witch, trembling as they begged for forgiveness for arriving late.
Before anyone could close their dropped jaws, over twenty more figures materialized next to Cold Moon, as if pulled in by some teleportation spell.
At first, the area felt devoid of presence, but then, as the space rippled, the gang from Heavenly Sword Sect found themselves under the overwhelming pressure of immense energy.
As the oppressive aura rolled in, Ling Xiaozu’s expression grew somber, while excitement flickered in Master Sister Luo Ying’s eyes, her dark light blade gleaming ever brighter in her grasp.
Little did the Heavenly Sword folks know how powerful the hidden force behind the Demoness really was.
The five flanking the demoness alone were nearly as strong as the Great King of the Split Land! And judging by their diverse attire and weapons, each had their own area of expertise.
Sometimes, raw power isn’t just about swinging swords—some unseen forces are far more terrifying.
“Master, we’re late! Please forgive us!” called out all the members from Extermination of Immortals, resembling stone statues as they knelt before the stoic Cold Moon Witch.
It was as if they’d stay that way until the end of time unless commanded otherwise.
Among the group was the newly appointed leader of the Demon-Slaying Squad, Little Musashi, and the Masked Woman Feng Yalin, who had been making waves in the Nightmare World.
Wait a minute, what was that Bull Head doing mixed in with the Demon-Slaying Squad?
“Strong Brother! Is that you?”
“Oh man, the Demon-Slaying Squad’s rolling out and they’ve brought Strong Brother along for the show!”
“Strong Brother has finally made a name for himself; what an achievement!”
“Just envy him, getting to hang out with the witch! Quickly, how do you feel? Are you thrilled? Happy?”
If Strong Brother saw these comments, he’d probably want to smash those players’ faces in!
These guys sure were standing there talking big for someone who wasn’t sweating in the presence of such power.
He was on his knees, drenched, feeling the overwhelming aura radiating from the big shots beside him, afraid to make a move.
Moreover, the big boss they were kneeling to, the Cold Moon Witch, had been a distant figure to him until now. Up close, even bowing his head and not daring to look at her face, he felt her unyielding power pressing down on his shoulders like two heavy hands.
That suffocating weight reminded him once more of the Witch’s might and coldness.
This was someone who held life and d*ath in her hands!
This was an authority that could wipe out an entire city with just a flick of a finger!
Once again, he reaffirmed that if the Witch were to get angry, it would send the world into a sea of bl**d and mountains of corpses.
…
P.S. Spitting bl**d for four updates! The end of the month is nearly here—anyone still got supplies to spare?
