### Chapter 7: I’m Really Invincible (1)
==============================
In a cave filled with the stench of decay and bl**d,
Gongsun Ding was sweating bullets, desperate yet clueless about how to convince his fellow disciples who were shoving him around.
Without any solid proof, no matter what he said, these d*mn guys wouldn’t take him seriously; they’d just chalk him up to being a madman.
He reckoned it would be the same if he were in their shoes.
But the situation was beyond critical.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out that if there were heaps of their corpses outside the forbidden zone, it meant that this gang, including their esteemed master, had bit the dust multiple times without even knowing!
Peering through a bl**d pool, Gongsun Ding saw Master Li Ying Tian’s right hand already touching the sealed jade door, and a weird feeling struck him.
It was almost like he could sense that the enemy’s massacre would kick off with Master as the first target.
In a moment of panic, he practically bellowed, “Master, watch out!”
Li Ying Tian’s fingers paused for a split second.
And just then, a shadow swooped down from above, mouth agape like a horror movie monster.
Thanks to Gongsun Ding’s timely warning, Li Ying Tian instinctively reacted, extending a ten-centimeter-long red sword qi from the tip of his right index finger.
In a heartbeat, the red sword qi shot forward, colliding violently with the Licker’s sharp teeth, producing a teeth-grinding friction that echoed through the cave.
At that moment, Li Ying Tian was filled with sheer terror.
His heart sword had become powerful enough to materialize outside his body; the sword qi he controlled was sharper than a razor blade. In life-and-d*ath situations, it could slice a mountain in half!
But the anticipated scene of the enemy being split in two didn’t happen. Instead, the Licker absorbed the blow with its teeth like a hungry hippo, charging straight at him, undeterred and unharmed.
Meanwhile, surrounding the bl**d pool, an equal number of Lickers leaped out, instantaneously decapitating two hapless victims.
The remaining crowd screamed in fright, scrambling to summon their own heart swords to fight the unexpected foe.
Gongsun Ding, flooded with horror, glanced at the fallen bodies littering the ground.
Their deaths mirrored those of the countless corpses he had found earlier, making it crystal clear: these monsters were the true culprits.
“Thud, thud, thud…”
The sounds of heart swords clashing against the Lickers’ hardened bodies rang out incessantly, leaving them astounded at the existence of creatures that could withstand even their powerful attacks.
Even Li Ying Tian could manage only a stalemate against these beasts; forget about rescuing his pitiful disciples.
“Ah… ah…”
Two more screams echoed through the cave.
The Lickers that feasted on the severed heads swelled in size and targeted the remaining struggling disciples of Thousand Bird City.
Gongsun Ding stumbled back in terror, helplessly watching his comrades perish before his eyes while he could do nothing but futilely flail.
Suddenly, a desperate thought flashed through his mind.
What if, once everyone died here, they all went back to square one, endlessly reliving this dreadful cycle of dying over and over again?
“No… No!”
Gongsun Ding felt like a lunatic, wanting to break away completely from the grim reality that robbed him of all hope.
Unfortunately, the Lickers were not just tough; they were getting faster and sneakier.
“Crack, crack…”
In mere seconds, most of the heads in the vicinity had been bitten off.
Li Ying Tian was furious and sorrowful, roaring as he took advantage of an opening to summon fifty flying swords, intending to wipe out the attackers.
But the result was despairing.
The flying swords clashed against the monsters like they were smashing against a boulder, inflicting no damage, while the backlash shattered the swords, debris clattering to the ground.
The Lickers seemed bored with the fight, one of them sweeping its claws with such force that it shattered Li Ying Tian’s red sword qi.
Li Ying Tian instantly spewed bl**d; his defenses faltered under raging pressure.
“Roar…”
The Licker lunged forward mercilessly, its sharp claws piercing into his shoulders.
With its bl**d-soaked maw poised to bite down, it looked as if this renowned sect leader was about to meet the same fate as his disciples.
Just at that critical moment, a dark shadow zipped past Li Ying Tian,
with a sharp “zheng” sound, the Licker was cleanly severed in half from snout to tailbone, dark red bl**d gushing out like a fountain showering Li Ying Tian.
The shadow didn’t stop there but darted towards Gongsun Ding, who was also on the brink of doom.
Li Ying Tian wiped the disgusting liquid from his face and turned to see a lithe figure, wearing dark clothes, moving like a natural-born adversary of the Lickers, slicing them down with ease, leaving them cowering in fear.
Within just a few seconds,
the foul cave was quiet once again.
Gongsun Ding gasped for air, almost disbelieving that he hadn’t met his end amid the swarm of Lickers.
That agile, masked woman who saved them had just finished wiping the bl**d from her short sword and sheathed it calmly.
The survivors, including Li Ying Tian, stood in shock.
He even forgot about his initial goal, staring at the mysterious woman clad in black, her figure perfectly shaped and awe-inspiring.
Who the heck was she?
A monster that even he couldn’t contend with fell to her sword in an instant, demonstrating just how vast the chasm was between them.
Yet, the aura she radiated didn’t seem much better than Yun Hong, the supposed top dog; why was that…
Could it be that she was just habitually hiding her strength, revealing her true power only when facing the enemy?
Yes, that had to be it.
Otherwise, how could one explain why a creature that he couldn’t k*ll was easily dispatched by her?
In this world, strength dominated.
Even if the four-hundred-year-old Li Ying Tian seemed like her ancestor, when faced with the life-saving benefactor who appeared to be an unparalleled powerhouse,
Li Ying Tian suppressed the shock in his heart and, with respect, bowed, saying, “Thank you, senior, for your rescue.”
Gongsun Ding and the other two survivors hurriedly bowed, their voices shaking, “We shall never forget your great kindness, senior!”
But the masked woman just scoffed, “No need to thank me. I only saved a few of you. If you all died, it would have been a relief.”
Li Ying Tian was taken aback, unable to grasp her meaning.
Gongsun Ding quickly recounted what he had witnessed at lightning speed.
At that moment, Li Ying Tian froze, unable to process what Gongsun Ding had just said.
He had already died several times?
This… how could that even be possible?
Yet looking at Gongsun Ding’s anxious expression, he didn’t seem like he was lying.
If it were true, how ridiculous was it for a grandmaster of Thousand Bird City to be toyed with like a fool by that Bull Head from White Feather City?
This was the most absurd thing ever.
