Chapter 7: I’m the Boss (10)
==============================
“Crack!”
Kael’thas soared high, his axe spinning like a windmill in the air.
With a slash that tore through the heavens, he cleaved the entire palace in half from dozens of meters above, cutting it down from top to bottom at a diagonal angle.
“Boom! Boom!”
The upper section of the palace slid down the slanted cut and crashed to the ground, raising a cloud of dust with a deafening roar.
This one strike left everyone dumbfounded.
Soon enough, a few little demons, having lost all hope, started fleeing in all directions amidst the chaos of battling skeletons.
The demon army reacted a bit better. Under Eric’s command, they formed a battle formation to protect the three harpists in the center, constantly hacking away at the undead creatures coming from all sides.
As Kael’thas trudged forward with heavy steps toward the demon defense area, Freeman and the others, who just took down several ghouls, tried to catch up with the d*ath Knight in a bid to slow him down.
A few vials of potions were thrown through the air, smashing against the d*ath Knight’s back with a loud crash.
But to their dismay, the liquid that was supposed to burst into flames didn’t do a thing! Instead, it froze instantly into purple-black ice blocks due to the low temperature!
Kael’thas turned around to glare at them, his dark helmet revealing only his piercing eyes.
“d*e!”
With a horizontal slash, the demon warriors who could have dodged the attack were as if nailed to the spot, watching helplessly as the blade sliced through their chests, bl**d spraying out.
In an instant, they lost consciousness.
Who knew d*ath would come so fast? So fast they didn’t even have time to feel pain or sorrow.
Fortunately, Freeman lagged behind those warriors by half a step and was merely grazed by the shockwave, saved just in time by the harpist’s music, which allowed him to escape with his life.
“Trissa, if you can slow down his rhythm, I’ll find a way!” Eric said solemnly.
Trissa immediately began to pluck her harp, producing a melodious “ding ding dong.”
All her previous worries vanished in that instant. She could feel that the terrifying d*ath Knight’s body actually housed none other than Lord Lin.
She never expected Lord Lin could rise from such a dire situation, growing stronger by the minute.
If it weren’t for all the strong fighters banding together, one or two individuals could never stop his approach.
To cope with Eric, she merely strummed a few simple notes, probably failing to even achieve a normal ten percent of effectiveness.
The other two harpists exchanged sneers, eager to witness her failure.
If Trissa’s performance turned out to be ineffective, they would swoop in to crush her, reestablishing their status in Eric’s eyes.
But lo and behold! After hearing that chaotic tune, Kael’thas staggered, his speed slowing to a crawl, and even his axe seemed incapable of lifting as he dragged it behind him with great effort.
Eric was overjoyed, “Trissa, well done!”
The two harpists were left speechless, “…”
What in the world was she playing? How could it possibly have any effect? This… this was outright cheating!
Yet, the facts were right in front of them; the d*ath Knight was butchering his way through foes. How could this be happening?
Trissa truly is a genius… that was the only explanation that calmed them.
Eric mixed several vials of potions on the spot, adding different powders he carried with him.
“Ha! This potion will definitely counter him!”
Eric rushed forward closer to Kael’thas, ready to test his new concoction.
But just then, Trissa suddenly cried out, “Ah! I can’t hold on much longer!”
At the same moment, Kael’thas’s form trembled violently, as if trying to shake off the harpist’s hold.
Eric was an S-rank potion maker, but not an S-rank warrior.
Thanks to the crowd’s protection and Trissa’s genius, he had the guts to move closer to the enemy.
But at that moment, Kael’thas’s sudden movement startled Eric. Unfortunately, the new potion required his direct interference.
Thinking of the soldiers who had already sacrificed themselves, Eric took a deep breath, steeled his heart, and finally completed the incantation while tossing the potion vial.
Ultimately, his emotions interfered, causing him to fumble, and the vial simply smashed against the d*ath Knight’s leg.
This time, the freezing aura meant to protect his body proved ineffective, flames rapidly engulfing his right leg.
“It’s working!” Eric exclaimed.
But the reward for his elation was a horizontal slash infused with fierce winds, as he watched the demon leader about to be cleaved in two. A few loyal warriors immediately stepped in front of him, sacrificing themselves in a gruesome split for Eric.
Eric was splattered with bl**d.
Moments later, he finally registered what happened and scrambled back to the demon ranks.
“d*mn it! I need more potions!”
Though the flames continued to spread across Kael’thas’s right leg, it seemed ineffective for now.
And those warrior shields blocking him were being effortlessly cleaved by the axe, leaving even the best harpists in the world unable to save them.
“d*e! Servants of the God of the Undead!”
Kael’thas roared like an insurmountable mountain, any flesh and bl**d standing in his way would ultimately be crushed to pieces.
【Ding! Your current plot completion is at 100%, expecting an S+ rating!】
Lin Nan felt a rush of joy.
Oh my gosh, finally got the completion to 100%! Does this mean I can finally throw in the towel?
【Warning! Warning! As the final boss of the level, you must lose in a reasonable manner. If a blatant act of letting go occurs, the plot completion will be impacted and the rating will significantly drop!】
Mother of—!
If Lin Nan weren’t currently inside Kael’thas, she would have shouted a curse in public.
In the beginning, they thought she didn’t perform well enough and almost got killed by the enemy.
After finally getting the performance to 100%, now that she’s powerful enough to crush the opponent, they want her to come up with a reasonable reason to lose? I’m invincible! How do I lose now?
Choke on water? Suffocate on a bun? Or accidentally trip and fall to my d*ath?
This is downright ridiculous!
Unreasonable loss and it still impacts plot completion?
Lin Nan was so furious she could burst a vein.
【Warning! Warning! The boss has entered a berserk state; attack power rises by 50% for five minutes!】
