Ever since he absorbed the ancient demon energy and became the new Demon Emperor, this was the first time memories of the past flitted across his mind.
Back in the day, the Human Emperor defeated the previous Demon Emperor with this very sword.
Now that the Black Sword had reappeared in the Human Emperor’s hands, how could he not be on high alert?
Thus, a series of Buddha-hand seals were nothing but a feint, while the real killing move was brewing, just waiting for the Human Emperor to close in before unleashing it.
Sure enough, the Human Emperor gracefully dodged his “Great Might Heavenly Dragon,”
And as soon as she slipped out of the pressure of the Demon-Subduing Great Formation, her figure zipped around like a breeze, instantly appearing behind him.
Ha! Perfect timing!
“Great Sun Tathagata!”
As the hellfire formation just poked its head out, Liao Chen heard the crisp sound of a long sword being drawn.
In an instant, he felt frozen in place, able to see and hear but unable to do a thing.
After going through half of the hellfire formation setup, it all crashed down as he lost focus. The flaming inferno only singed the edge of his opponent’s skirt.
The Human Emperor’s sword had already grazed his neck.
“Zzzzzz…”
A fountain of bl**d shot up high.
Liao Chen slowly began to fall.
However, the Demon-Subduing Great Formation did not waver with Liao Chen’s fall.
Lin Nan realized then that the Demon Emperor wasn’t going down so easily.
Just as expected, before Liao Chen could even hit the ground, he transformed mid-air into a swirl of demon energy, fusing with a wisp of black smoke that wafted from the Demon-Subduing formation. He re-materialized, his face sternly looking at his rival.
“The Demon Emperor sure knows how to run for his life,”
Lin Nan teased, performing a casual flourish with her sword. “I’m curious to see how many lives you actually have.”
Perhaps due to Liao Chen preparing for her teleportation, Lin Nan decided not to stick to the same style of battle this time.
With her sword point aimed at the sky, what was once just black bl**d drifting in the wind suddenly seemed to find a new purpose, swirling towards the Black Wind Sword in unison.
“Illusory Sea!”
With an angry shout, countless black snowflakes formed a rapidly spinning tornado, charging towards the floating Demon-Subduing formation like a power drill gone rogue.
Liao Chen immediately shouted, “Great Sun Tathagata! Om, Ah, Wei, Luo, Hung, Qian!”
Six streams of hellfire erupted from the void, twisting together to block the tornado, like a steel plate testing the power of a drill, cold and merciless.
The surviving onlookers immediately heard sounds reminiscent of a chainsaw chopping wood,
And in an instant, the world changed colors, mountains trembled, and darkness descended with dust flying everywhere.
As the hollow tornado was compressed to its limits, it looked like an aggressive black serpent, spitting deadly poison towards its incoming foe.
The hellfire retreated step by step, its intensity seemingly diminishing against the tornado’s might.
The Demon-Subduing formation was on shaky ground.
Liao Chen was drenched in sweat, completely oblivious that the Human Emperor was very likely sensing his weak spot.
As long as there was enough demon energy left in the world for him to revive, he had no fear of d*ath, like a phoenix reborn from the ashes.
His aim in protecting the surviving Fallen Species was purely to conserve demon energy.
An empty Demon Emperor without demon energy was like a reed without roots or a river without a source; he could flaunt temporary strength, but it wouldn’t last.
At this rate, he might not hold on much longer.
Once the Demon-Subduing formation shattered and the Fallen Species were wiped out, this Demon Emperor might just be at the end of his life.
Was Frost North Snow really going to sleep forever in that thousand-year ice coffin?
“No, absolutely not!”
He promised her he would bring her back to life.
Even though he hadn’t expected that the Female Emperor would be so mighty, far surpassing his expectations, her schemes and strategies were also level above him.
It’s no wonder the previous Demon Emperor lost.
Even if she had the same strength as the Human Emperor, her chances of winning were likely still far superior to the Demon Emperor’s.
“Great Sun Tathagata! Om, Ah, Wei, Luo, Hung, Qian!”
In the face of adversity, Liao Chen unleashed a surge of unprecedented power.
The six flames surged upward almost simultaneously, even swallowing the tornado whole.
The Black Snow, though sharp and hard, was still fundamentally snow, and thanks to the high temperatures from the six flames, it instantly transformed into water vapor dispersing in the air.

Everyone thought the Human Emperor had run out of tricks, at least for a moment.

Just when he managed to reduce the Black Snow to nothing, a swarm of undead creatures started rising from the ground and sky, resurrected from the dead.
A massive Fallen Species, stitched together from flesh and bl**d scraps that Black Snow had sliced apart, stood a whopping twenty meters tall, its wings spread wide, blocking the sun, and a whiff of putrid odor blasted towards him.
The gigantic Fallen Species launched a punch straight at Liao Chen, its size making him look like a ping pong ball, easily crushable.
“Boom!”
Liao Chen commanded the six streams of hellfire to resist.
At the cost of one flame, the massive Fallen Species’s arm exploded in fragments.
Off-balance, the Fallen Species stumbled back several steps.
In that moment, Liao Chen finally saw a glimmer of hope; the hellfire summoned by his Great Sun Tathagata chant was pure and fierce, not exactly intended to deal with undead creatures, but it still held substantial killing power.
Yet, the next second, the fractured bones on the ground began to float slowly, reassembling on the right arm of the gigantic Fallen Species.
Liao Chen looked up at the white figure suspended in the air.
The cold, unfeeling gaze resembled holy light on an iceberg, and its imposing aura made him involuntarily lower his eyes.
“Boom!”
The enormous Fallen Species consumed yet another one of his hellfires,
And his opponent continued to stand there, perfectly unscathed.
Liao Chen despaired.
He had thought that with the name of the Demon Emperor, he could finally fulfill his wish and resurrect his beloved.
But to his shock, the Human Emperor was so formidable, crushing him in every aspect; no matter what tactic he employed, he couldn’t budge her an inch.
Was it really true he would never see the living Frost North Snow again?
And just as the gigantic Fallen Species swung its fist with great might, targeting his vital point, Liao Chen, refusing to give in, prepared to counter with hellfire, only for that punch to slam him hard against the edges of the Demon-Subduing formation.
“Boom Boom!”
The formation trembled dangerously, and at that moment, black snow began to fall from the sky again.
The Fallen Species protected by the formation looked upward, screaming, and the next second, they did something Liao Chen never predicted.
All the surviving Fallen Species huddled together, transforming into a heavy cloud of demon energy.
