### Chapter 1: Church of Light (5)
==============================
Upon hearing that familiar name, Trissa, who was accompanying them, couldn’t help but tense up.
“Are you talking about Your Majesty? But… how is that possible?”
To the people of the Empire, the East Sea was an incredibly distant existence.
In the geography books of the Demon Race, even the map of the East Sea was absent, as it was far beyond the Empire’s exploration range.
For thousands of years, very few demons have managed to set foot in the East Sea.
After all, there were tens of thousands of kilometers separating the Empire from the East Sea, filled with deserts, forests, mountains, and plains—various complex terrains where the Human Race and Monster Race were scattered. One wrong move could spell disaster.
So generally, the Empire wouldn’t extend its influence into Human territory.
Both logistics and support would be a huge problem.
So when Trissa first heard that it was none other than His Majesty the Emperor heading to the East Sea Underground Palace, her surprise was genuine, not an act.
“It’s definitely your Emperor, no doubt about it.
At first, I didn’t know either, but after tagging along with him back to the Empire and seeing him berate the ministers boldly in the Imperial Grand Hall, I just knew this guy had to be the Emperor.”
Lu Nan Yu, meanwhile, grabbed a roasted leg of an animal unique to the Demon territory.
In high spirits, he spat out, “d*mn it, I thought he’d promote me, but after asking a few questions, he kicked my a** into prison.
Three months of silence!
That d*mn Emperor, if I ever see him again, I swear on my life I’ll make him know what it means to deceive me!”
Lin Nan elegantly lifted a cup of red fruit tea, took a sip, and said, “Tell me the detailed process of how you found him in the underground palace. Focus on what he asked you and what you replied.”
Lu Nan Yu, still on a roll with his food, seemed to ignore her command completely.
Lin Nan’s expression darkened immediately, and a group of attendants rushed in to clear away Lu Nan Yu’s half-eaten meal.
“What the… Sis! I wasn’t finished.”
“Finish talking first, then eat.”
Lu Nan Yu, “…….”
“Fine, fine! You didn’t rescue me just for this, did you? I’ll tell you.
But you have to promise me one thing: you can’t ignore me after I’m done.”
Lin Nan snorted, “You didn’t think that way at first, did you?
Did you think there was a chance to get your revenge on me, which is why you scampered off with Bel from the East Sea Underground Palace, only to end up stuck in prison?”
Lu Nan Yu’s face flushed red, but he quickly shook his head vigorously.
“Not at all! If anyone’s to blame, it’s that ungrateful j*rk! He’s completely useless!”
Trissa’s expression changed multiple times. If Lin Nan hadn’t been there, she would have jumped up to scold Lu Nan Yu for insulting the Emperor of the Empire.
After all, the Empire had a legacy spanning thousands of years, and the royal family was almost like gods in the hearts of the people.
Although in recent years, as the Church of Light has risen, people’s feelings for the royal family had become less devout than before.
However, Lu Nan Yu’s blatant insults towards the Emperor could have gotten him sent straight to the courts!
Fortunately, Lin Nan promptly stopped Lu Nan Yu’s reckless talk and brought his narrative back on track.
“At that time, even though I was tied up in the deepest part of the underground palace, I was still part of the palace. Even if I couldn’t do anything, I could see everything that happened within it clearly.
About three days after you guys left, a horned guy with blonde hair appeared in the underground palace.
Under my watchful eye, he seemed to be investigating everything related to the previous bl**d of All Spirits Formation, even finding some remnants of the array.”
“Great, give him a chicken leg,” Lin Nan said.
Trissa initially had some fondness for him, but once he started trash-talking the Emperor, she became a bit annoyed.
So she tossed the smallest chicken leg to the boy.
Lu Nan Yu didn’t care about the size and swallowed it whole.
Then, smacking his lips, he continued, “Just figuring out a leftover formation wasn’t going to reveal all the secrets of the bl**d of All Spirits, so this demon kept searching for anything useful in the underground palace.
And, just as you’d imagine, he eventually dug me up.
He was over the moon and asked me who I was.
I said, ‘I’m Frost North Snow’s little brother, do you know who that is?’
He said, ‘Of course, that used to be the Demon Queen, right?’
I said, ‘That’s right, it’s her.’
He asked how I ended up here and if there was anything he could do to help.
I told him, ‘Of course, I want revenge on Frost North Snow!’
He said he could take me out, but first, I had to tell him everything related to the bl**d of All Spirits Formation.”
Lin Nan interjected, “How do you know so much?”
Lu Nan Yu puffed up with pride, “Of course! My mind is like an archive of everything that has happened in the underground palace since it was built, no details missed.”
Lin Nan, “……”
This kid might as well be the backup file for the East Sea Underground Palace. Who knows, Frost North Snow might’ve been a test subject before him.
Ha, she’d better give this kid a reality check before he thinks he’s some sort of hard drive hero.
“Continue,” Lin Nan said, her face revealing no emotion.
“So, I told him how the bl**d of All Spirits Formation was constructed back in the day, including some pretty detailed specifics.
Bel also kept his promise, breaking my chains and taking me out of the underground palace.”
“Was he alone the entire time? No attendants?” Lin Nan asked.
Lu Nan Yu nodded, “Yep, just him.”
Lin Nan lightly tapped her fingers on the smooth table, actually understanding most of the process from Lu Nan Yu’s description by now.
But what puzzled her was that since Lu Nan Yu was so clear about the construction of the bl**d of All Spirits, if the Emperor truly wanted to recreate it, he would absolutely need Lu Nan Yu’s help.
Yet he had been neglected in prison for three whole months.
Moreover, she could guarantee that during this time, the Emperor hadn’t given any orders regarding him.
So that’s why the warden struck a deal with Trissa after seeing piles of gold and silver.
Could it be that the Emperor’s real goal wasn’t the bl**d of All Spirits?
But that didn’t make sense either; otherwise, how could he, as the Emperor, personally travel to the East Sea to investigate matters related to the bl**d of All Spirits?
In any case, Lu Nan Yu’s appearance confirmed some of Lin Nan’s earlier suspicions,
indicating that whether or not the Emperor’s ultimate goal was to recreate the bl**d of All Spirits, he was definitely up to something behind the scenes.
“Trissa, I leave Lu Nan Yu in your hands. Keep a close eye on him and don’t let him run wild,”
“Yes, My Lord.”
Lin Nan turned to the boy, “This is the Imperial Capital, where the Emperor’s eyes and ears are everywhere. If you don’t want to end up back in prison, just behave yourself here, understood?”
Lu Nan Yu pouted but ultimately nodded.
