### Chapter 2: Twist (3)
—
Lin Nan was reluctantly forced to take action.
Originally, she hoped to observe the situation and see if she could uncover the Emperor’s secrets hidden in the Imperial Capital.
After all, the pit had yet to be found, which meant that the five thousand players hidden near it were still unaccounted for.
She planned to rescue those unfortunate players first and then deal with the Emperor.
But then, out of nowhere, a Beast Legion came charging from the South, charging towards the Imperial Capital with the force of a freight train. The city walls were about to crumble!
Under the pressure of the monstrous army, the Emperor would surely launch his plans immediately.
If what Lu Nan Yu said was true and Bel had detailed the crafting method of the bl**d of All Spirits Formation, then saving those five thousand players couldn’t wait any longer.
However, before that, she had to defeat the Beast Legion.
First, to prevent the rampaging beasts from interfering, and second, to rack up some Godhood Value.
After all, this was her first opportunity to show off to the entire populace of the Imperial Capital! If she didn’t score some Godhood Value, wouldn’t that be a colossal loss?
“Ding ding dong dong…”
Lin Nan’s harp music played on.
At that moment, her lavishly summoned harp floated in mid-air as if it weighed nothing at all, while she knelt slightly, posing as if sitting on a non-existent chair.
Seeing the Lord Messenger arrive just in time, Janet finally let out a sigh of relief.
But she never expected that a simple “Serenade” would turn into a powerhouse under the Lord Messenger’s touch.
Wherever the music reached, the beasts, previously restless and ready to attack, suddenly transformed into docile little sheep.
And this debuff clearly seemed to last for at least a dozen minutes!
What amazing power! No wonder she was chosen by the God of Harmony.
However, Lilith was not one to sit idly by.
Facing Lin Nan’s musical attack, she raised her head and let out a long, piercing howl.
The shrill sound clashed with the Serenade, and soon, Lilith’s efforts began to pay off.
Some of the beasts, already somewhat intelligent, suddenly snapped out of their trance, returning to their normal selves thanks to Lilith’s provocation.
“Roar! Roar!”
Feeling humiliated from recently being controlled, the pack of beasts didn’t even wait for Lilith’s command; they charged at the floating enemy with wild cries.
Especially the large swathes of wyverns, collectively flying in made it feel like the sky was about to cave in.
This left everyone stunned, genuinely worried for the Lord Messenger’s safety.
If she were to be defeated by the Female Demon Leader, the Imperial Capital might very well become a ghost town today.
“Whoosh! Whoosh!”
The sound of wyverns flapping their wings was terrifically intimidating, especially as they swarmed Lin Nan from all sides. It seemed no one could escape their assault.
“Ding ding dong dong!”
The harp music suddenly turned frantic and tense.
With Lin Nan’s hands flying around, sound waves spread out from her like ripples, quickly radiating in all directions.
Unlike Janet, her sound waves were nearly all-encompassing and continuous, like a spinning wheel endlessly claiming the lives of those who dared to approach.
“Crack! Crack!”
In just a moment, the ground beneath Lin Nan was piled high with the severed limbs of the wyverns, bl**d spraying like a fountain. The battlefield turned into a scene from a slaughterhouse; even a glance could make one feel nauseous.
But astonishingly, she didn’t have a single drop of bl**d on her.
The hem of her dress danced in the wind, and her flowing hair matched her mood—carefree and serene.
It was as if the lethal threats from her enemies were nothing more than a gentle breeze in her eyes.
【You have received 500,000 Godhood Value. Your Godhood journey is now 20% complete.】
A sudden 10% increase in progress was indeed good, but she needed more.
At this point, Lilith had realized that relying on mere beasts wouldn’t win her the battle.
Furthermore, through observation, she finally remembered where she had seen this girl before.
It was when she had left Thousand Bird City as an Exile, watching from the sidelines, that she encountered this high-cold woman dressed in the same Black Robe.
That’s right, Fu Yetian referred to her as the Cold Moon Witch.
Little did she know she would bump into her again in the Imperial Capital after some time.
But who would have guessed that the Cold Moon Witch wasn’t using a sword but was instead playing the harp, and her harp skills surpassed any harpist Lilith had ever encountered.
On top of that, people continuously referred to her as the Lord Messenger, raising doubts about her true identity.
But whoever she was, as long as she stood in the way of Lilith’s conquest of the Imperial Capital, she needed to make her opponent understand that the city was already in Lilith’s grasp, and no one could stop her.
“Whoosh!”
Lilith suddenly vanished from her spot.
When she reappeared, she was less than two meters away from Lin Nan’s back.
That was Instant Transmission!
Janet and the others were terrified and tried to warn the seemingly unaware Lord Messenger.
But it felt like it was already too late.
Just as their warning slipped from their lips, Lilith’s dagger was almost piercing Lin Nan’s neck.
She was certain that all she needed was one hit, and Lin Nan would be clutching her throat, unable to scream, collapsing to the ground immediately.
“Clang!”
A sharp grinding sound suddenly sliced through the air.
The razor-sharp dagger was abruptly blocked right before Lin Nan’s neck, unable to advance another inch.
“Ding ding dong dong…”
The harp music turned strangely eerie. To Lilith, it felt like she was suddenly surrounded by hundreds of venomous snakes climbing up her legs.
She quickly backed away and then slapped herself hard.
“Smack!”
The fiery pain on her cheek jolted her out of the hallucination, and the terrifying snakes vanished without a trace.
Hmm, interesting.
She really didn’t believe that as an Exile, she would be outmatched by a mere Monster Race witch.
With a howling roar, even more beasts broke free from their confinement.
“Sacrifice!” she said coldly.
That’s right; she still had a card up her sleeve.
As a survivor of the ancient Demon Race, she had mastered many secret techniques; otherwise, she wouldn’t have stirred up such a massive storm in the Empire eight hundred years ago and subsequently been locked away in Thousand Bird City as a troublesome element.
The wyverns and various beasts crashed into one another like they were possessed, their flesh and bl**d quickly merging together, and under the spell’s influence, all useless fat and bones were dissolved, leaving behind a pulsating red orb resembling a pill.
Lilith swallowed it whole.
In just a few seconds, her body quickly grew to three times its normal size, and wings sprouted from her back.
With the twin horns on her forehead, she looked like a demon straight out of hell.
“This is the true form of the Demon Race, you bunch of worthless fools!”
