### Chapter 9 – Unification of the Three Races (6)
Strong Brother had been on a plane before, but nothing could compare to the first time he found himself above the clouds, looking down at the earth. The feeling was utterly breathtaking and unforgettable.
So, as he carefully peered over the edge of the cave, looking down, the cold rush of air and the fleeting landscapes below confirmed one thing: they were definitely high up in the sky.
For some inexplicable reason, Sky Void City was floating in the air just like Thousand Bird Floating City used to, and they’d been hanging out inside the city clueless about this whole situation.
Just as Little Musashi and Strong Brother were staring blankly, a horn from the enemy side blared overhead, sending a shiver down their spines.
Immediately, the entire mountainside seemed to shake with each step of the approaching giants. Rocks and dust crumbled down, and Strong Brother even witnessed a bird flying directly below get whacked by a falling rock, crashing down like it had been shot, only to vanish into the clouds moments later.
“Let’s head back,” he said.
Little Musashi’s spirit seemed to deflate all at once.
They had originally thought to reach the other side of Sky Void City through a secret tunnel, but this mission was starting to reveal things about the city they hadn’t known.
The Extermination of Immortals Guild had literally no way out.
Even if they wanted to escape, the only option was a free fall.
After all, most of the surviving players weren’t yet capable of sword flying. Even Strong Brother, Cold Little Rain, and Li Xiaocong could barely manage it—one slip and they’d be falling through the air like a rock.
Who would take that risk without certainty?
“Hmm, let’s go back. We might still be able to help.”
The two rushed back the way they had come.
When they finally hit ground level, they found both sides engaged in a mad-dog fight.
Giants only perished when their cores were destroyed, but that didn’t mean their bodies miraculously self-healed after taking a hit.
To climb up to the Extermination of Immortals Guild’s castle on the other side, the giants and Muscle Men had to jump down a deep chasm first, which gave the defenders a lot of chances.
Traps at the bottom of the ravine activated immediately, with many giants plummeting right into spiky pits upon landing. The razor-sharp hooks latched onto their feet, forcing them to consider chopping off their own ankles if they wanted to escape.
And a lot of giants did just that.
But to reattach a severed limb? That’s a whole process, giving the defenders a solid amount of time.
Rocks, which had been prepared for a while, rained down like it was monsoon season, causing major damage to the giants.
Even so, some stubborn folks still managed to scale the edge of the castle.
Under the leadership of the Demon-Slaying Squad, the crowd hacked the nimble Muscle Men into bits, ensuring those meaty remnants couldn’t gather and resurrect the giants again.
When Little Musashi and Strong Brother returned, the rest showed little interest.
After all, the battle was fierce and everyone was pushing themselves to the limit. Even though they had the upper hand, they knew the giants’ vitality was shockingly tenacious, and the real fight was just getting started—so there was no time to relax.
Both Little Musashi and Strong Brother understood:
The reason everyone still had the fight in them against strong foes was that they all shared the same desire to survive.
But if they learned that Sky Void City was floating in isolation with no escape route, the morale would plummet faster than a giant with a broken leg—some might even throw in the towel easy.
Thus, at least before this battle ended, revealing the truth was off the table.
Little Musashi unsheathed her twin blades and dove into the deep chasm like a madwoman, as if this was the only way to temporarily forget everything she had just seen.
…
The more Dark Feather Crane flew ahead, the more shocked Lin Nan became.
Those colossal mushroom clusters seemed to completely defy gravity, with the tallest reaching at least two or three thousand meters high.
When Lin Nan and her crew landed on one of those mushroom caps, the landscape looked like a miniature world with rivers, mountains, lakes, and plains.
What in the world was happening? In just a few months, the position of Sky Void City had undergone such a dramatic transformation.
Where were the stalwart members of the Extermination of Immortals Guild and the Demon-Slaying Squad still holding their ground?
But of course, nobody was about to give her any answers.
After circling the mushroom clusters, Lin Nan ordered Dark Feather Crane to land on the cap of the largest one. However, when she stepped down, she expected it to be soft like the mushrooms she knew, only to find the ground felt solid and just like the surface of the earth.
She wandered in circles, glancing around at the serene surroundings and the occasional flock of birds soaring above.
Deep down, she sensed something was off.
But where the problem lay was a mystery.
Just then, the ground suddenly shook with a “rumble.”
As the earth cracked and the ridgeline faltered, nearly a hundred massive giants lumbered into view.
They all roared in unison and charged toward the intruders.
Dark Feather Crane let out a piercing cry.
Before Lin Nan could give the command, it soared into the sky and then dove down like a lightning bolt.
Its iron claws shattered several giants’ skulls, but as Dark Feather Crane soared back into the air, the headless giants began to wobble and stand up again, as if nothing had happened, heads regenerating in just a second or two.
The bl**d Moon Team, under Xi’s lead, launched a counterattack.
Four swift and agile figures darted among the giants, taking out one after another with each moment passing.
But frighteningly, these giants seemed to have no weaknesses.
Even with gaping wounds in their hearts, they could recover in no time and jump back into the fray.
The situation turned into a stalemate as the bl**d Moon Team began to retreat, seemingly on the verge of being overwhelmed by the tide of giants.
Lin Nan unsheathed Black Wind Sword, unleashing the dark snow instantly across the sky.
Against such an overwhelming horde, Lin Nan had only one approach in mind—totally obliterate them physically.
You think you can regenerate?
I’ll turn you into mush!
“Whoosh!”
A ferocious dark snow tornado ripped through the crowd of giants, turning everything it touched into a meaty paste.
Everywhere the tornado passed, the sky seemed to rain bloody droplets, rendering the giants unable to revive.
Looks like it should be over, right?
But just then, several mystery figures with wings and a powerful presence appeared in the sky.
