Chapter 2: Uniting the Three Races (9)
==============================
Xi’s ability to attract hatred was truly one of a kind.
Before long, the originally chaotic brawl, with brain matter splattered everywhere, seemed to focus solely on him, like a pack of wolves chasing a single target.
As Xi gradually led these pesky nuisances away from Sky Void City,
Good Shiyuan turned to Silly Shiyuan and Evil Shiyuan, saying, “You two move Frost North Snow and her few subordinates outside. I’ve got this.”
During their time managing the dimensional rifts in the Small Thousand World, the three had always followed Good Shiyuan’s lead.
Plus, he was the strongest among the three avatars, if he said he had a way to deal with all the mushrooms, he definitely wasn’t lying.
Thus, Silly Shiyuan and Evil Shiyuan quickly scooped up Lin Nan and the bl**d Moon Team, hurriedly leaving the territory of Sky Void City.
These terrifying mushrooms, filled with hallucinogenic spores, appeared immobile on the surface.
But once the dimensional portal opened, their spores floated through the rifts and invaded Sky Void City.
These fungi had a terrifying reproduction capability; even if only a few survived, within a few hours, mature spores would swirl in the air again.
Before long, the spores completely overtook Sky Void City—it took less than two to three days!
With so many human players’ guilds stationed in Sky Void City,
it became the mushrooms’ primary aim to manipulate humans into attacking and slaughtering each other.
The trio of Shiyuan, being manifestations of the will of the Small Thousand World, were unaffected by the spores.
But anyone else who approached Sky Void City would be attacked by the floating masses of spores, unknowingly falling into a hallucinatory dream.
Once in the dream, no one could escape; they would end up killing each other, ultimately turning into nourishment for the mushrooms.
If it weren’t for the timely arrival of the three Shiyuan brothers, alongside the Cold Moon Witch, who was determined to lead the three races against Divine Punishment, it might have been a case of “aspirations unfulfilled before d*ath” for everyone involved.
Once Sky Void City was empty, with only mushrooms swaying in the wind and continuously releasing spores,
Good Shiyuan floated above, muttering spells.
A ferocious flame whipped around, engulfing Sky Void City completely in flame.
Just before the end, the mushrooms’ surfaces all cracked open, revealing mouth-like gaps from which squirming fleshy lumps emerged, leaving behind suffocating screams in their final moments.
“Hah, after sucking so much human bl**d, you lot actually evolved like this.
If allowed to continue, the whole continent would be at your mercy.”
Even Good Shiyuan felt a chill run down his spine at that moment.
He couldn’t even begin to imagine how far these mushrooms would develop—thankfully, they managed to stop this trend just in time.
Once Silly Shiyuan and Evil Shiyuan settled Lin Nan, they too floated above, searching for any spores that might have escaped their doom.
If they allowed them to drift away, it would become a disaster for the Asking Dao Continent in time.
The three Shiyuan did their best, weaving a fiery net that wrapped around Sky Void City entirely.
The flames raged for three days and nights until only scorched earth remained.
During that time, those trapped in the dream began waking up one by one.
Especially those players who had turned into giants and lost their self-awareness; waking up felt like emerging from a nightmare.
Lin Nan opened her eyes the following evening, sending Silly Shiyuan into a joyous frenzy.
“Sis, you’re awake! That’s great, that’s great!”
Initially, Lin Nan felt a bit dazed, her last memory was of fiercely fighting a mysterious figure that seemed to be from the divine clan.
After a moment, she managed to piece together the situation she had just escaped.
With Silly Shiyuan babbling like a bursting bamboo tube, explaining everything that had happened,
Lin Nan sighed gently, pinching Silly Shiyuan’s slightly worried face, “Good thing you all got here in time.”
Silly Shiyuan’s face turned bright red.
But before he could relish the sensation of Lin Nan’s fingers, Evil Shiyuan kicked him away, sending him crashing into a nearby boulder like a deflated balloon.
“How dare you take advantage of my absence to cozy up to Sis?! That’s just not gonna fly!”
Evil Shiyuan quickly scooted next to Lin Nan, “Sis, I’m here too!”
Lin Nan knew Silly Shiyuan’s tough body wouldn’t have sustained any harm. Seeing Evil Shiyuan approaching her like a pet asking for comfort,
she couldn’t help but chuckle, recalling her love-hate relationship with the three Shiyuan in the martial arts world.
So, she gently ruffled his hair, “Be good, don’t always bully your little brother.”
“Who’s his little brother?!” Silly Shiyuan sprang back to life and charged at him again.
Instantly, they got into a tangle, with “bangs” and “thuds” echoing all around.
Good Shiyuan cast a cold glance at the two, huffing, “Immature.”
He was the most rational piece left behind after the split of the Monster King, so Lin Nan didn’t expect him to embrace her openly.
Nonetheless, the fact that he managed to save her with those two loons was quite heroic.
“Thank you,” Lin Nan said softly.
“What are you thanking me for? If it weren’t for your carelessness, how would you have fallen into the enemy’s trap?”
Good Shiyuan replied impatiently, “Honestly, you’re thousands of years old. Still making me worry like this.”
Lin Nan, “…”
Didn’t expect you to be a cold exterior with a warm heart.
“Well, anyway, let’s get out of here quickly. The air here seems pretty bad.”
Lin Nan glanced at the now dimming flames of Sky Void City, but the air was thick with black ash and smoke, smelling quite acrid.
At the same time, the Demon-Slaying Squad and Extermination of Immortals Guild members were also waking up one after the other.
They glanced at each other, then at the giants led by the bald man, with whom they’d been locked in mortal combat.
A brief silence ensued.
Even though they could guess that their mutual slaughter was due to the hallucinogenic spores, brothers and comrades had indeed fallen to one another’s blades.
So, while they couldn’t hate each other, it was likely they wouldn’t be speaking again.
“Let’s go,” Lin Nan stood up.
“We’re heading to Sky Sword City.”
Yes, as one of the seven great sects of the human race, the Sky Void Sword Sect had nearly been wiped out during this disaster.
The first place the spores from the small world touched down was the residence of the Sky Void Sword Sect, making them the very first victims of the hallucinogenic spores.
It was their bl**d and flesh that nourished the mushrooms, allowing even more spores to fill the air.
Poor Sky Void Sword Sect—they hadn’t even had a chance to show off before being completely annihilated…
