Chapter 5: Uniting the Three Races (12)
================================
The grand hall of Cold Wind Cave looked like a modern-world expo, cluttered with every sort of product you could think of. It seemed like Princess Witch had almost relocated an entire mall into this underground lair.
Most importantly, she didn’t forget the juice to power all these gadgets—a high-powered diesel generator, a couple of barrels filled with quality diesel, and even a still-packed solar panel setup waiting to be unfolded.
Though, alas, her attempt to smuggle in a nuclear bomb came to naught. That’s the kind of thing that could blow up quite literally if mishandled, with consequences too terrifying to contemplate.
Still, she managed to bring back an impressive array of lightweight firearms and explosives from the open market—pretty much everything except the heavy hardware like tanks and self-propelled artillery pieces.
But these were minor details.
Even the fanciest weapons are just hulks of scrap metal once the bullets run out.
The large-capacity hard drive, tucked away in a corner, was what truly mattered. It must have stored volumes of reference material, the kind they desperately needed.
Civilization itself stood as the cornerstone of any sustainable development, and this couldn’t be truer now.
At this point, the High School History Teacher was now a hundred percent certain that Lady Cold Moon, the ruler of Cold Wind City, was no local resident. Imagine a person from this world, who had never touched modern society, suddenly absorbing knowledge far beyond their comprehension, then meticulously gathering and transporting industrial products from another modern civilization back to Asking Dao Continent?
Especially with computers and compatible power sources—it almost solved the enormous problem of lacking research materials while climbing the tech tree once more.
Although curious about her true identity, his musings stopped there. There was no need to dig further. Beyond satisfying his curiosity, it served no useful purpose.
Eventually, regardless of her origin, she would have to face Divine Punishment, just like everyone else.
And the High School History Teacher admired her for one simple fact: She had the power to stay away, to remain in that other world until the divine calamity passed, or never return at all.
Yet, Cold Moon Great King returned to Cold Wind City without hesitation, seemingly indifferent to the very real possibility it might cost her life.
That one act spoke volumes.
It declared that Lady Witch viewed safeguarding the entire continent as her mission, bearing the destinies of all beings close to her heart.
The High School History Teacher’s emotions surged as he thought this over.
For the first time, he truly understood what it meant to “d*e for one’s true friend.”
“Lord, please rest assured. With so much intact information and blueprints, if we can’t produce firearms before Divine Punishment, you can have my head!”
After leaving the conference room, the High School History Teacher overflowed with excitement. Immediately diving into the forum, he shared the momentous contributions of Lady Witch to the whole continent.
Players went berserk.
“Mom! I thought we gamers would be swinging machetes like barbarians when Divine Punishment hits, but hey, now we’ll have machine guns to mow them down like grass!”
“I’m wasting my time practicing archery. Screw it, I’ll go build a g*n!”
“Explosives, grenades, artillery shells should be no problem. If we can whip up rocket launchers or tanks, that’d be sweet.”
“Let’s not get carried away. The timeline’s incredibly tight—just a year and a half. By then, if everyone’s armed with a musket, we’d be lucky.”
“Even if humanity started from the Industrial Revolution, it took over two hundred years to reach our current level of technology. Thinking we could catch up in a year and a half is absurd; we can only focus on a handful of key projects… Hey! You there, don’t waste that computer on games!”
“Whatever, since Cold Moon Witch has thrown us a bone, we should at least do her proud.”
“Right!”
“Alright, has it crossed your minds that maybe the Witch isn’t from this world? Perhaps she’s a spirit of some modern person who reincarnated here? Otherwise, how could she know so much and even know to collect references from another world?”
“Shhh, watch your tone, got it?”
“What’s the harm in casual speculation?”
The High School History Teacher posted the story of Cold Moon Witch leaving Asking Dao Continent to escape but then deciding to return to share their struggles.
Silence spread across the forums.
Truly, considering what they’d do in her position—if the enemies to come were overwhelmingly powerful, wouldn’t they have entertained the thought of running away?
After all, why not? Life in that other world would’ve been peaceful and comfortable, with technology and luxury. For someone like Cold Moon Witch, ruling it as a supreme sovereign would’ve been a piece of cake. Why tether herself indefinitely to this continent, waiting for certain doom?
Yet, she did not run. Instead, her resolve deepened, standing firmly with them.
This devotion was indeed admirable, leaving people in awe.

[Godhood Value +10]
…
Huh? Why the sudden spike in Godhood Value?
Lin Nan was honestly baffled about what had transpired. But hey, as long as the numbers went up, it was all fine by her. She had been worried ever since the Empire’s excursion into human and monster territories, that her Godhood Value had plateaued. Today, it had finally budged.
By late afternoon, the High School History Teacher and his team were hollering as they carted away all the modern contraptions.
Lin Nan sneakily kept a solar-powered handheld gaming device for herself. It was perfect for leisure—playing offline card games or dueling brainless NPCs to unwind.
But thinking about the grand plan she was about to execute drained all desire for leisure.
“Great King, are you prepared to forsake Cold Wind City?”
Liang Yue, trailing close behind Lin Nan, accompanied her as she inspected the various streets of Cold Wind City. Both humans and monsters bowed deeply as they passed, remaining bowed until her figure vanished from sight.
Lin Nan hadn’t anticipated that Liang Yue would notice a fleeting trace of reluctance in her gaze as she scrutinized every blade of grass and tree in the city.
She hadn’t intended to inform Liang Yue of the plan too early.
After all, the city held immense significance to her—it was a repository of her bl**d, sweat, and tears.
If she were to announce its abandonment, Liang Yue would undoubtedly be the first to resist strenuously.
“Should I survive the war, should this humble servant still be alive, I humbly request that the Great King reassign the management of this city to me. I yearn to witness its growth into the continent’s most flourishing city.”
Liang Yue smiled through her tears.
Lin Nan nodded solemnly, “I promise you.”
Just as Liang Yue had suspected, Lin Nan’s plan involved abandoning Cold Wind City entirely in a year’s time.
No, more than just Cold Wind City.
The bulk of the cities belonging to the humans, monsters, and demons would also be vacated.
Sky Sword City, Sky Void City, Deficient Moon Valley, Thousand Bird City, Cold Wind City, Cangyan City, and the Imperial Capital… all of them…
In her grand design, only one city would remain standing: Black Stone City, home to Sky Tower.
