# Chapter 1: Prologue (1)
==============================
Meanwhile, in the sandy deserts of Black Stone City, torrential rain wreaked havoc, while a thick layer of dark clouds and thunder rumbled across the skies of the entire Asking Dao Continent.
Unprecedented downpours cascaded down, soaking every inch of land like a frantic chef trying to drown a salad.
“Boom! Boom!”
The incessant thunder and blinding lightning turned the faces of those who had foolishly chosen to stay outside into ghostly white canvases.
Fortunately, the rain had come early enough that most people hadn’t even gotten out the door yet, blissfully unaware that the crisis was more than just a bit of flooding.
Soon enough, the forest’s critters showed signs of madness.
Especially those large, furry birds and beasts, which, prompted by the rain, began to brutally attack each other like they were auditioning for a nature documentary gone wrong.
The heavier the rain fell, the more intense their brawls became.
Before long, bodies floated in the floodwaters, with bl**d spreading like a terrible rash.
At the same time, the first case of a human infected by the rain was reported outside Black Stone City.
The good folks of the continent, usually living their peaceful lives, had never seen such a bizarre event. This madness spread like wildfire among the crowd, almost as if it was a viral dance party!
People bit and gnawed at each other as if their neighbors were fresh-baked bread, radiating irresistible temptation.
This definitely encouraged the survivors to keep their doors tightly locked and barricade themselves in as if they were protecting a vault stuffed with chocolate.
They huddled in corners, praying with their eyes squeezed shut, begging the gods for protection.
Little did they know that this unending downpour was the masterwork of those very deities.
The supreme beings didn’t even need to show their faces to easily snatch away all life, as if they were on some cosmic harvesting spree.
At the same time, chaos continued to explode in the Steel Fortress District 52.
Thank goodness for the loudspeakers forcing everyone to stay indoors and lock their windows! That made sure the crazy monsters couldn’t expand their chaos without extra effort.
Sure, the heavy iron gates were sealing off the roads leading out of District 52, and even if the humans there had lost their marbles, it wouldn’t impact the grander scheme of things.
But Lin Nan, as the leader, couldn’t just stand by and let people suffer.
Luo Ying, eager to lend a hand, was stopped by Lin Nan.
Her recently acquired outfit, the “Moon Elope,” could immunize her against all negative effects, making her immune to the madness-inducing rain!
So, Lin Nan addressed her subordinates, “I’ll handle this solo. Once I regain control, you can come in, one by one.”
Everyone was anxious but knew that some situations couldn’t be resolved by merely bursting through like a bull in a china shop.
Having the Cold Moon herself swoop in meant she had a good reason to do it her way.
Not wanting to drag things out, Lin Nan took off like a shooting star, zipping through the spacious corridor.
Her outfit, the “Moon Elope,” transformed into a translucent black due to the “Black Robe,” enhancing her cool, ethereal vibe!
“Open the door!”
Standing before Lin Nan was the heavy steel door blocking District 52 from the main road.
Even from this side, the guards could hear the horrifying sound of claws scraping the steel walls.
The monster warriors behind Lin Nan were all pumped up, heart racing one hundred and twenty percent.
Once the door was opened, those transformed human monsters would swarm in like a tidal wave, spreading madness throughout every nook and cranny of the fortress.
So they stood firm, ensuring that not a single monster could slip through their defensive line.
“Creeeak…”
As soon as the heavy iron door squeaked open a crack, countless wildly waving arms sprang forth, as if they were excitedly reaching out for pizza at a party.
The monsters seemed desperate to rush into this new area, eager to spread chaos and confusion everywhere!
“Back off!”
The four guards assigned to open the door practically rolled their way back behind the defensive line, barely escaping.
That mere crack in the door was immediately pushed wide open by an overwhelming tsunami of monsters.
Some crawled, some flailed, and all manner of bizarre postures were on display.
Just a few minutes ago, they were normal humans…
The guards’ spines tingled with horror.
At that moment, their infallible Cold Moon Great King floated majestically in the middle of the passage.
In front of her loomed the monstrous tide.
“Illusory Sea!”
“Crack!”
A wave of energy shot forth in a crescent shape, colliding fiercely with the horde of monsters.
The sound of breaking bones rang out like a symphony; in just one strike, those once menacing beasts were sliced in half, as easily as if they were made of butter.
Lin Nan floated forward, not wanting to step in the disgusting pool of bl**d.
Her guards wanted to follow, but Lin Nan swiftly halted them.
“Hold the door! I’ll clean up District 52, then we decide how to proceed.”
At that very moment, one of the guards—who was too close to the door—got splashed by the bl**d of a monster Lin Nan had just defeated.
In a minute or two, he began wailing as he clutched his face, transforming from a perfectly normal human into a monster at a speed that was simply mind-boggling.
Lin Nan sighed.
Who would’ve thought these monsters could infect so quickly? It seemed even more overpowered than the T-virus!
Looks like she wouldn’t be able to use such brutal methods after this to avoid affecting more innocent bystanders.
“Sorry, bro,” she muttered, stretching out her hand, freezing the newly created monster guard in a block of ice.
With a squeeze, the ice shattered into dozens of pieces, dropping to the floor.
His bl**d didn’t splatter, still solidified in the ice, seemingly taking ages to melt.
Without pausing, Lin Nan sheathed her Black Wind Sword and gently landed on the ground, avoiding the murky bl**d and corpses.
At that moment, monsters lurking at the door surged forth.
Just as Lin Nan was about to strike, she suddenly heard three extremely swift sounds from behind her.
“Ahh, dare you touch my sister? I’ll blow you up!”
Silly Shiyuan charged in like a cannonball, smashing into the monsters.
Any creature he touched, even by the tiniest hair, was instantly shattered.
Evil Shiyuan wielded a massive iron rod, smashing the heads of four or five monsters upon arrival, batting bl**d mist into the air, which drifted slowly toward the guards at the door.
This obviously startled the guards. If that stuff got in their lungs, would they turn into monsters too?
Fortunately, Good Shiyuan showed up just in time, conjuring up a ball of fire in mid-air, incinerating the bl**d mist into a pile of black ash, rendering it useless forever.
Lin Nan panicked, “Hey, get back! Their bl**d is toxic!”
Good Shiyuan replied, “Sister, don’t worry! We three are immune to all poisons. We could even eat them raw without any issues!”
At that moment, Silly Shiyuan, upon hearing this, promptly hugged a monster and took a big bite out of its head.
Lin Nan, “…”
Good Shiyuan, “…”
