Chapter 6: The Female Emperor of the World (3)
==============================
Speaking of which, the Three Races had been living on this continent for thousands of years,
But it seemed they never really thought about just how big the land beneath their feet was, from east to west, from land to sea—just how vast it truly was.
Most people only knew the names of their own villages and nearby towns,
If they wanted to learn about places further away, they had to seek out those knowledgeable traveling merchants.
As a result, when the masses migrated to the fortress, they didn’t have a clear understanding of the continent as a whole.
For them, the land felt like a boundless expanse, with no end in sight no matter which direction they ventured.
It was only upon arriving at the fortress that they learned from the players that this continent was called—drumroll please—Asking Dao Continent.
The Three Races had no idea where this peculiar name came from, and the players were rather vague about it, unwilling to elaborate much.
Explaining that the locals were treated as NPCs by players was definitely a touchy subject.
But anyway, “Asking Dao Continent” became well known to the fortress folk, and mentioning it instantly rang a bell—oh yes, that’s the expansive land under our feet!
So, Lin Nan immediately thought, since “Asking Dao Continent” was already a household name,
Why not just tweak it a bit?
That way, it would be catchy and easy to remember.
The Great Dao Empire it is!
She decided against anything like “Tang Han”—a simple “Dao” reflects the essence of the I Ching and the Five Elements, capturing the quintessence of humanity.
As the saying goes, “Dao produces one, one produces two, two produces three, three produces all things.”
Dao is the source of the universe!
Thus, naming the new empire “Dao” foretold its entry into a brand-new phase—very much in line with Lin Nan’s needs.
“Dao…”
“Dao…”
“…”
As natives of the Asking Dao Continent, they didn’t quite grasp the true meaning of “Dao.”
However, after the representatives of the Three Races dismissed each other’s suggestions, they found the title proposed by the Witch Your Majesty quite meaningful. It created a nice ring with “Asking Dao Continent,” making it a common ground everyone could accept for now.
“The name Great Dao Empire is noble and elegant, truly a perfect match for Your Majesty’s title!”
Once one person chimed in, the others quickly followed suit.
In short, they settled on this empire name pretty fast.
After all, it was a rather peculiar time, and since Divine Punishment had just begun, no one knew how long the wrath of the gods would last.
So, all celebratory events related to the empire would be postponed until after successfully resisting the Divine Punishment.
Thus, the joint meeting of the Three Races’ leaders came to an official close.
The name Great Dao Empire quickly spread throughout the entire fortress.
At this point, the Three Races’ populace didn’t even have a concept of national flags or emblems.
Even the Demon Race Empire, which had stood for over four thousand years, only had signal flags used for battle commands.
So, when the masses saw those unique players stitch a giant “Dao” character onto red fabric and then raise it on a bamboo pole, waving it about,
The cloth fluttered in the air, making a loud “whoosh” sound, like a blazing inferno that ignited everyone’s spirits in an instant.
Thus, people started following suit,
And the red fabric stored in the fortress was quickly sold out, while the narrow, rundown streets suddenly filled with red fluttering shadows,
Bringing a burst of color to the dim underground spaces.
This was a spontaneous act by the people; the fortress management naturally had no authority to interfere.
However, they quickly learned how to showcase national dignity during peacetime, copying flag-raising ceremonies and national anthems from the players.
Even though a monstrous flood raged outside, those hidden beneath the ice cap felt no sense of fatal threat.
No matter how many meters high the tsunami roared past above their heads, they remained immersed in the joy of the Great Dao Empire’s founding.
“Boom!”
Finally, on the tenth day of relentless rain, the first wave of a tsunami, laden with countless boulders, appeared.
Each stone was roughly the size of a small hill, weighing anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of tons.
They swept over the Asking Dao Continent like a merciless sieve, destroying all living beings struggling to survive in the flood.
The Three Races beneath the ice cap heard the thunderous rumble of the rolling stones.
While they firmly believed the ice cover, painstakingly gathered by Your Majesty, could shield them, at such a critical moment, they couldn’t help but feel uneasy, their gazes lifting to the source of the sound.
Just as Lin Nan had predicted,
The tsunami was a ruthless slaughtering method for the beings on the Asking Dao Continent—no land creature could escape the calamity.
The boulders carried forth by the tsunami crashed through nearly every obstacle like heavyweight bombs.
In an instant, the sky turned dark and murky.
If Lin Nan hadn’t quickly draped the fortress with an ice cover, everyone would have been utterly devoured by the surging waves at this moment, only to be crushed into pulp by the boulders.
At that moment, silence reigned.
The residents on the upper levels of the fortress could even peer through their windows, witnessing the horrific scene through the ice.
……
Under Mount Sumeru in the Divine Realm, in a tranquil and secluded manor.
Four young boys, dressed in matching monk robes, were gathered together, some sitting, some lying down.
And in the center of the four stood a full 3D hologram of the entire Asking Dao Continent.
Of course, at this moment, the Asking Dao Continent was completely overtaken by the flood, with the lowest water levels roughly 70 meters above the original ground.
Some animals that had escaped the flood, along with those of the Three Races who hadn’t made it into the fortress, were trembling on the higher peaks, fearfully watching the raging waters flowing beneath them.
These poor souls thought if they held on for a few more days, the flood would recede, and they could return home.
But little did they know, the rain and the resultant flood were merely the appetizer; the main course was yet to come.
“Looks like it’s time for Big Brother to step in!”
“Yeah, us three brothers have worked our butts off for a while, but we’ve only reaped about sixty to seventy percent of the lives! Who would’ve guessed that in just four hundred years, these guys have gotten pretty slick at hide-and-seek.”
“But no matter how deep they hide, it won’t matter. Once Big Brother makes a move, there’s no chance for any lucky breaks on this continent.”
The young man referred to as Big Brother chuckled, “Without the groundwork laid by my three younger brothers, I wouldn’t be able to truly unleash my skills!”
While he said this, his actions didn’t pause.
His hand seemed to just wave around the outside of the 3D scene, and immediately a wave visibly rose up, rushing towards the center of the continent.
He made several more gestures, and soon a few ripples gathered into a virtual wave about ten centimeters high.
The other three marveled in unison, exclaiming, “Big Brother, what a masterful technique!”
……
