I Come From the Abyss to Save Humanity Today – Chapter 1022

**Chapter 105: The Traitor of the Choir of Saints (Part 5)**

Boom!

With a sudden step, the slender leg hit the ground, sending dust flying, and the stone slab cracked open. The girl’s ghostly figure flashed, and with a speed that Chris could never reach, she returned like a whirlwind.

Chris instantly tensed up!

In that moment, countless counterattack ideas popped into his head, but as soon as he made a move, he realized he was already chilled to the bone, his limbs numb, and his body stiff as a board…

That sickle, stabbed deep into his chest, was steadily pouring icy frost within him, enough to be fatal for an ordinary human.

If it weren’t for the blessing of a healing divine miracle, Chris would have already collapsed.

“You…”

He opened his mouth to curse, but the girl swiftly reached out a dainty hand, pinching his throat like a vice, effectively choking back any words he hadn’t managed to get out.

Boom!

Another dull, powerful sound echoed.

In an instant, Chris felt an overwhelming force surge towards him. The scene before his eyes blurred, and it was as if he was being yanked from the ground like a stubborn carrot by the girl gripping his neck, hurtling skyward at an astonishing speed.

“Holy moly!”

Nearby, in the ruins of an old street, the collapsed beams of a dilapidated building cracked under the strain. Dust still lingered in the air beneath them, as Rect stood on high ground nearby, surrounded by four or five members of the Sword of Kanli.

“No way.”

They watched as she ascended like a meteor, glowing with starry blue light. One enthusiastic member exclaimed, “They’re going to fight in the sky…”

“Who was just saying that little princess was going to be in trouble…?”

“This is the power of the Pope Knight?”

“Which one is the Pope Knight, anyway…?”

These latecomers witnessing the most intense moment of the battle were a bit excited, with only the cool-headed Rect and a curvaceous woman beside him left somewhat unfazed.

“I was just thinking, boss.”

She leaned in and whispered in Rect’s ear, “That princess from the Empire, is her name… Peilo, the little daughter of the Skarlij family?”

“Mhm.”

“Isn’t she connected to the most famous Pope Knight from a few years back, Miss Silvya?”

“What kind of connection?”

Rect glanced at her, then pretended to think deeply, saying, “Maybe they’re long-lost sisters?”

“……”

In mid-air, the wind howled.

The girl had Chris’s head practically locked in her grip as she dragged him upward.

In the blink of an eye, they reached hundreds of meters high. Chris was barely holding on, frost coating his body, his face turning a ghastly shade. Even his tongue felt stiff and words were out of reach.

Desperately grasping the short sickle buried in his chest, he managed to wrench it out and swung it at the girl with what felt like his last ounce of strength. But before he could land a hit, a punch struck his hand, sending the sickle flying down.

“Do you know what you look like—”

The girl shouted as she yanked him closer and then slapped him so hard his jaw dislocated. He glared at her with crazed hatred.

“It really looks like—”

Without a care, she slammed her fist into his head.

“Really!”

Then another punch, his nose crumpled, bl**d spraying into the air, while his mask got warped.

“Let’s see—”

She raised her fist for a third swing.

But after a moment of hesitation, she lowered it slowly.

She noticed Chris’s eyes fluttering; the golden light flickering around him suddenly dimmed, bl**d mixed with ice shards spilling from his mouth. He was now limp, clearly close to passing out.

“…I really don’t want to be near you, d*mn Choir of Saints.”

The girl stated, her tone losing its previous sharpness as she became somewhat uninterested.

Creating an ice platform beneath her, she stopped in mid-air hundreds of meters up, single-handedly lifting Chris while eyeing his once-gentlemanly face that now bore no resemblance to a gentleman at all. She frowned lightly, pondering, and then tilted her head, considering whether to just drop him.

If she did, with his current state, he’d likely splatter, right?

As she contemplated, a thought struck her. She suddenly reached out, her fingertip approaching Chris’s face, seeming intent on removing his mask.

“Hehe…”

At that moment, the man suddenly let out an eerie laugh.

Struggling to open his eyes, he grinned, his mouth a grotesque mess with bloody teeth and ice chunks, resembling a monstrous grin.

The girl instinctively pulled her hand back.

“Y…you…”

Hoarsely and indistinctly, Chris managed to utter, clearly audible to the girl’s ears: “Your appearance… doesn’t look any better than mine… hehehe…”

“Pitiful… test subject…”

“Monster of the Abyss…”

“Looking for d*ath?” the girl asked coldly.

Before Chris could say anything else, she released her grip on his throat.

His body immediately plummeted downward like a ragged cloth hanging in the wind, further and smaller, until he fell into the deserted street below, creating a cloud of dust with a loud thud.

In the distance, among the observing members of the Sword of Kanli, one exclaimed, “Ah, he’s falling!”

“Is this—”

“Over?”

The girl in the sky leaned forward, peering down and waiting. She then jumped off her ice platform, a blue flash slicing through the air, but before she hit the ground, she noticed healing divine light blooming at the spot where Chris had fallen, the dust still swirling.

“Tsk.”

She couldn’t help but click her tongue.

He was tougher than the heretics in a bl**d ritual…

With that thought, she accelerated using her Moon Step, leaping down to the glowing spot, landing on a tilting crumbled wall.

She didn’t rush over, instead rearranging her dress, brushing off the dust, and tying back her disheveled hair, all while glancing over at Chris.

She watched as his body twisted and slowly stood up amidst the light, his facial spikes dropping away, his broken limbs gradually healing.

Crack, crack…

With an earsplitting sound, the distorted bones reassembled, while the frostbite on his chest, after the sickle was pulled out, was now bathed in intertwining golden-green holy light, healing at an excruciatingly slow pace.

Once he had recovered about seventy percent of his injuries, Chris finally caught his breath and looked up at the girl.

“Keep going.”

The girl casually told him, appearing completely uninterested. “Why aren’t you running?”

“……”

Her gaze looked down on him like an ant that had been played with. Chris fell into silence for a while, then raised his head and let out a long breath: “…Hah.”

Meanwhile, Rect and the curvy woman beside him had approached the building, suddenly seeing the holy light brighten up ahead. They stopped, astonished: “Uh.”

“Looks like it’s not over yet…”

The woman mused, and then suddenly seemed to see something: “Hmm?”

Rect looked over as well, his expression shifting as he barely managed to shout something. Suddenly, the sky changed, and gold radiance burst through the clouds like a blazing sun, pouring down!
