Chapter 110: I Pei Your Mother
Sofia and I rushed over.
“Are you okay?!”
“I’m fine.” Sarah quickly stood up, shook her head, dusted off her school uniform, and glared fiercely at the Fire Boy, hopping in place while shouting, “What the heck?! You crazy or what?!”
…Looks like she’s really okay.
So, I dashed a couple of steps to Daisy’s side. She seemed a bit dazed from the fall, just managing to kneel on the ground, and when she tried to rub her head, she suddenly noticed a dirty scrape on her elbow where bl**d pearls were starting to seep out. Daisy froze for a moment and then turned her gaze to my face—her lips quivered, her eyes grew red, and she looked like she was about to cry.
Just then, the Fire Boy chimed in, “Sorry, ladies, um, that was not intentional, are you okay?”
He sounded apologetic, but his flippant tone made it clear he didn’t think it was a big deal, which made me a bit angry… but I had no time to deal with him right now.
I crouched down, took hold of Daisy’s delicate arm, and brushed the dirt around her scrape with my fingers, puffing my cheeks to blow on it. “Doesn’t hurt, doesn’t hurt, it’s fine, Daisy, just a little scratch.”
Daisy nodded, looking awfully pitiful.
“Um… I’m fine… woo—”
She trembled, crying out before struggling to hold it in, her lips pressed tight, but tears streamed down her cheeks.
I started to panic a bit, quickly grabbing my sleeve to wipe her tears while mumbling “Doesn’t hurt, don’t cry,” and then untied my handkerchief from my wrist, carefully wrapping it around her scrape.
“How’s that, Daisy?”
Seeing Daisy sniffle, Sofia and Sarah came over.
“Oh! She’s hurt her arm…”
“I-I’m fine… we need to hurry, woo… to the training ground…”
Daisy’s sniffled words ignited the two girls’ emotions, and soon I was surrounded by their shrill scoldings and the Fire Boy’s feeble justifications.
“What’s wrong with you?! Think scaring us is fun? Huh?!”
“And laughing! You shameless j*rk! How can you laugh?!”
“No way, no way~ I said I was careless.”
“Careless? Are you blind?! We made way for you, and with such a wide path, you had to come our way, what does that mean?!”
“What do you mean? Just exactly that~”
“Stupid j*rk!”
“Miss, it’s not nice to curse~”
“Do you still think you’re cool? Just because you can use the Power of Order a bit better, who are you showing off for? Full of yourself, huh?!”
“What kind of lame tricks are you trying to pull for attention?!”
“Making a girl cry is simply the worst! A disgrace to men!”
“Scoundrel!”
“…Have you all said enough?!”
“What? You wanna fight?! I’ll call for help!”
After a quick bandage of Daisy’s scrape and tying the handkerchief in a pretty bow, I helped her stand up slowly.
“Can you walk?”
“Um…” Daisy nodded, managing a pitiful smile.
She was already cute, but with tears in her eyes trying so hard to hold it together, she looked especially pitiful.
“Please, stop fighting… I’m okay, let’s quickly go to the training ground…”
Following Daisy’s lead, I turned to look at the arguing pair, just in time to see Lightning Boy returning, having run ahead.
He wrapped his arms around the almost-furious Fire Boy and looked at the equally angry Sarah and Sofia, grinning while playing peacemaker. “Hey, what’s going on here? No need to be so angry.”
Then he playfully punched the Fire Boy’s shoulder. “Peter, what’s up with you? Not only did you upset the ladies, but you also made one cry? That’s not cool, man; you need to apologize properly—”
As he continued joking, he seemed to choke on his words as his smile stiffened the moment our eyes met.
In that instant, I thought I saw his pupils slowly dilate; the clueless look on his face made him go from somewhat decent-looking to utterly ridiculous. Without needing to think, I knew what he would say next.
“Holy cr*p…”
Just as I expected, a crude and uninspired exclamation.
Two seconds later, the stunned Lightning Boy blushed with excitement as he tightened his grip around the Fire Boy’s neck, leaning in to whisper in his ear.
“Look at that one over there, the one with black hair…”
“Oh my god… I just noticed, is there really this level of beauty among the new recruits? Are we lucky or what…”
“Let’s team up; we’ve got to win her over…”
“You get her, I’ll get her.”
“Let’s see who’s got the skills.”
I frowned, somewhat disgusted.
Did they think nobody could hear them? Such childish nonsense. It wasn’t worth my time to argue with someone like that; let them apologize and scram.
With my mind made up, I slowly walked up to them while supporting Daisy, shooting a cold glance at their faces.
“You two, apologize properly to her.”
“Hey, hey, that’s not my fault, Miss.” Lightning Boy shoved the one named Peter and raised his hands with a smile, “It’s this guy’s fault… hey, apologize already!”
The Fire Boy shrugged. “But I already said sorry.”
“Say it again! Don’t leave a bad impression on the ladies!”
“That’s going to make me feel embarrassed!”
Just then, Daisy gently nudged my shoulder. “It’s okay, Peilo… let’s just go.”
Upon hearing Daisy wanting to leave, the Fire Boy quickly changed his tune. “If I have to apologize… it’s not impossible. But honestly, seeing this lady cry makes me feel really bad, just saying sorry feels too rude. How about this—you’re all from the same dorm, right? Just tell me your dorm number, and tonight we’ll bring some small gifts over to properly apologize, what do you think?”
Lightning Boy clapped his hands in agreement. “Sounds good! I think that’s fine.”
“You wish!” Sofia shot back, her eyes narrowing. “Now, bow your heads, take a bow, and say you’re sorry properly! Hurry up! We’re in a rush to the training ground!”
“Calm down, Miss, we’re all the same here. We’re also new level-one students, eager to get to the training ground. Otherwise, why did we just run so fast?” Lightning Boy still had a goofy grin on his face.
“You clearly aren’t in a hurry! You ran so fast!” Sofia was stomping her feet in frustration. “We have an injured person with us, you j*rk!”
“Enough, Sofia, let’s just go.” Sarah, looking gloomy, stepped over to support Daisy, pretending she was about to carry her again. “Peilo, ignore them; if we don’t leave now, we’ll really be late.”
I tilted my head and thought for a moment; Sarah was right.
It was more important to hurry to the training ground than to quibble with two emotionally immature boys.
From the looks of them, they wouldn’t honestly apologize anyway.
So, I nodded. “Okay.”
Letting go of Daisy’s support, I glanced at their annoying faces, and once again, they started chuckling.
“What’s up, leaving now? Peilo~ Miss?”
“Peilo~ Let me walk you out?”
“Peilo~”
In the next moment, my tiny body sprang upward, and before their slightly dazed expressions, I clenched my fists and punched straight for their noses.
“I Pei your mother.”
