Chapter 115: Let Me Tell You, Someone’s Bullying Me
“Well, so what?”
The response was as indifferent as a cat watching a cucumber.
“‘So what’… Don’t brush it off like that…” Sophia’s eyes gleamed with worry as she hushed her voice, “You have no idea who he is… Any girl targeted by Alex, they all—”
“Shh! Don’t say anything more…” Sarah tensed up and shrunk her shoulders. The fierce attitude she had just shown was nowhere to be found as she turned around. “Be careful, they might hear you.”
Sophia immediately fell silent, a look of concern flashing across her face. She cautiously glanced back, her next words stuck in her throat.
Our pace quickened a bit, and after a while, she felt we had put some distance between us before speaking again.
“In any case, you need to be cautious from now on, and try to avoid those people… I’m serious, don’t treat him the same way you did those two fools this morning. They are not the same.”
This advice was somewhat vague, but the meaning was crystal clear.
I understood she meant well and was worried I might be the type of hot-headed fool who had gotten used to living recklessly in Winter City. She thought I would foolishly confront troublesome figures just like that and end up regretting it with no one to back me up.
Thinking of this made me feel a bit wronged… You guys really misunderstood me, I’m not that kind of person!
This morning was just a coincidence.
“Uh-huh.” I smiled and nodded at Sophia, “I don’t like trouble, just don’t provoke me.”
The implication being, if you dare mess with me, don’t blame me for being rude.
“Uh.” Caught off guard by my reply, Sophia choked slightly, sighed after two seconds of silence, “While having courage is a good thing… Peilo, you really don’t understand how things work in the Royal City. Some people… they really won’t care who you are if they want to do something… Winter Moon is too far away for them.”
“Ah! They’re catching up to us… Let’s speed up… What do they want…”
Daisy’s face was pale, gripping my arm tightly with a look of utter confusion.
“Who knows…” Sarah answered.
“They’re still staring this way.”
The following stretch of the road was tense as the trio of girls grew increasingly anxious, quickening their steps to escape the ominous shadow of the red-haired boys behind us, their presence thickening the already gloomy atmosphere.
It was obvious that they had made up their minds to follow us to the dormitory, and they seemed to be speaking loudly enough for us to hear on purpose.
“Alex, look at those ladies ahead, they all seem pretty cute.”
“Check out that little wiggle… Tsk tsk.”
“Hey ladies, turn around and take a look! Don’t be shy!”
“Miss Peilo~”
“‘Miss’? Time to change that!”
“Calling her ‘Lady’ feels inappropriate, right?”
“Haha, don’t talk nonsense, I’m friends with Miss Peilo, so show some respect!”
“Hahaha—”
“Just looking at her from behind gives off a vibe—kind of cute and little.”
“She is still young.”
“Honestly, I think our Miss Peilo is great at everything…”
“Just that she’s a bit flat.”
I came to a sudden halt.
…Oh no, that’s crossing the line.
Ignoring Sarah and Sophia’s frantic warnings, I whipped around and stormed toward the red-haired guy, Alex.
“Ah, she’s coming!”
“Looks like she’s mad…”
“But still pretty.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I locked onto the freckled guy who had made the comment about my “flatness.”
Striding up to him, I could see his eyes gleam with a flicker of delight before he hastily looked away, raising a hand to salute me: “Miss, I just…”
Bam!
A punch sent his head snapping back, nearly lifting him off the ground, with a few teeth flying clear over two meters.
“Terri—”
“Holy cr*p!”
As shocked gasps erupted, I caught sight of Alex’s wide eyes, his face turning pale with horror as he reflexively stepped back, immediately hearing the girls behind me scream.
“Peilo, don’t—!”
Before Terri could let out another sound, he collapsed like a ragdoll.
…Now that’s better.
Time to get down to business.
With a casual flick of my wrist, I glanced back at Alex, who looked like he just realized the cowardice he had shown in that moment. He was probably feeling embarrassed, as his face grew a shade darker.
He stopped his angry-looking buddy who wanted to charge at me, from the corner of his eye he stared at me for a moment, then smirked coldly.
“Miss Peilo, you seem to really enjoy slapping faces.”
I shook my head.
Slowly raising my arm, I clenched my small fist to my chest, brewing a mock scared expression after a half-second pause.
“You…”
A slightly trembling voice slipped out that sounded extra soft, and I thought, this should work pretty well. So I blinked my eyes… and blinked again…
But alas, no tears came. Oh well, moving on.
“You all… want to hit me too…”
Alex’s expression froze.
He awkwardly diverted his gaze, his eyes flickering a bit before he stopped looking at me altogether, then curled his lips into another sneer.
“We want to hit you? You’re the one throwing punches here! Terri just said something about you—” He opened his mouth, finally refraining from finishing that sentence, merely pointing at the bloodied figure on the ground. “That was just a joke, no need to go that far!”
I took a small step back, shaking my head vigorously.
“No, I’m not… I don’t want to… I’m just scared…”
“You’re scared?” Alex narrowed his eyes to slits, his mouth curling up to what looked like a grin, “You just knocked someone out cold, what’s there to be scared about?”
“Scared… you guys bullying me…”
“Bullying you? You’re the one bullying us! Peilo, I warn you, this is the second time…”
I quickly covered my ears, pretending I didn’t want to hear him, mumbling to myself: “This morning… someone bullied me, and now you guys are… bullying me too… why am I so unlucky…”
“I can let go of what happened last night, but you just hit my friend again today! What on earth…”
Suddenly, Alex froze.
“What did you say?”
Hehe.
The smirk vanished in an instant as I seized the opportunity, rubbing my eyes.
“This morning… boohoo, someone bullied me, and they wanted to hit me too…”
“Wanted to hit you?” Alex frowned, “Just for no reason, why would anyone hit you?”
At that moment, someone nearby chimed in: “Alex, this girl might be lying to us, don’t forget about last night…”
“Shut up!”
His sharp rebuke cut off that comment, and Alex shot the speaker a disapproving look before turning back to me.
“Keep going.”
I sniffled dramatically.
“Right. They knocked down my friends…” I pointed a delicate finger toward Sarah and Daisy beside me, ignoring their expressions of shock as if they’d seen a ghost, “It was them. Then they asked us for our dorm number… wouldn’t let us leave, saying they’d hit me instead, nearly ruining the opening ceremony… they were so fierce, I was really scared…”
As I spoke, I stole glances at Alex’s face—watching from a cold glare to a softer one. As soon as I mentioned the dorm number, his eyebrows shot up, revealing his anger.
After all, he had done something similar before… empathy made it easier for him to believe me.
“Who are they?”
