I Come From the Abyss to Save Humanity Today – Chapter 172

### Chapter 145: Ambush

On a moonless, windy night, tough guys shed tears from the sky.

I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but it feels like there are particularly, especially a lot of pedestrians on the streets tonight—making a racket loud enough to make a goat cheese factory sound quiet. The market’s vendors calling out feels like a thousand goat cheeses are bleating “baa baa” in my ears, making me want to rip apart the cotton in my hygiene kit and stuff it in my ears.

I intentionally took a long detour down a less bustling street, but the bumpy road turned my backside into a painful seat, making me dizzy and queasy. This situation got even worse near Alik Street, driving my already miserable self to the brink of wanting to turn back home multiple times.

Annoying.

Annoyed, annoyed, it hurts, and annoyed…

Even the moon hanging in the sky has turned dull, looking ugly as ever.

I finally managed to reach my destination, only to discover new problems.

Alik Street is much wider and more isolated than I imagined. There are indeed residents here, as I see dim candle flames flickering in several nearby houses, and a pork stall in the distance. However, due to the sparse streetlights, there weren’t many pedestrians around.

The northern district of the Royal City is mostly like this. Even though the parish and Cataloma are located here, it doesn’t cover up the fact that the northern district’s economy is lagging overall. This also indirectly reveals that the Holy Church has a weak grip on the Royal City and, furthermore, the whole realm of Ethanbel. Though they seem revered by the citizens, in terms of profits, they sure aren’t slicing off a big piece of the cake. Despite being called the “Hometown of the Chosen,” it’s still guarded by the so-called “Divine Reliquary.”

This might be a consequence of the nobles pulling strings behind the scenes for a long time…

Shaking my head gently, I attempted to shake off the dazzling feeling as if I were encased in a golden bell. I opened the crumpled note in my hand again, staring at the ugly handwriting, lost in thought for a while.

You could tell Abe was rushed when he wrote this. I guess he didn’t really think it through; he probably just made a spur-of-the-moment decision and tore off a random piece of paper to jot it down, then hurriedly shoved it to me. He likely picked this spot because it’s not far from Cataloma… or maybe it’s a place he’s familiar with?

In any case, here I am. But I have no idea where to find him because he didn’t write that down.

sigh…

My little mouth barely opened, letting out a light sigh.

My head… it’s hurting… in every sense.

Raising my hand, I wiped the beads of sweat from my forehead… then furrowed my brows again, letting my sleeve drop, reaching up to feel my forehead… sure enough, it’s a bit warm.

I think I might have a fever.

Realizing this, my eyes widened.

Are you kidding me…? I’m the Abyss, can I even get a fever? How ridiculous…

But my weakness is an undeniable fact.

Stubbornly trudging along the wide road, I forced myself to perk up, scanning the surroundings for Abe’s figure.

I slowly felt the warmth in my breath turning into heat. The pain in my lower abdomen intensified, and my vision began to blur. Since arriving in this world, for the first time, I felt cold.

Not the comfortable coolness from exposure to low temperatures, but true cold—so cold that my body started to shiver uncontrollably. I huddled my shoulders and wrapped my arms around myself in an attempt to warm up.

If I can’t find Abe soon… I might just go back.

I feel too awful.

I should find a doctor… I want some medicine… are doctors in this world even reliable…?

Not long after, three shadows appeared in my line of sight, leaning against the wall, seemingly chatting.

It’s too dark, and my vision is a bit fuzzy; I can’t see their faces… could it be Abe?

I stepped closer.

“Abe…” I softly called out as I approached.

The three turned their heads at the sound. I quickly recognized their faces… three ugly, sleazy-looking dudes. All over twenty, hair greasy and unkempt—definitely not Abe.

“Sorry, wrong person,” I said and turned to leave.

Just as I took a couple of steps, one of the men seemed to snap back to reality and shouted with a clumsy polite tone, “Wait, this lady… uh, beautiful lady, don’t go! It’s dangerous out here alone at this hour!”

At the same time, I felt someone reaching out toward me.

Don’t touch me…

I sidestepped gently, quickening my pace without realizing it.

I heard them chasing after me.

“Don’t be scared, we’re not bad guys… hey, sis, do you live nearby? I’ve never seen you around.”

“You idiot, look at what she’s wearing, does she look like a woman who lives in this kind of place?”

“Yeah… look at the fabric, tsk tsk… must’ve cost a pretty penny.”

“Her hair is still black—first time I’ve seen that… haha, really pretty!”

“Hey, sis, we’re talking to you, why are you ignoring us?”

I took a deep breath and said without looking back, “Leave me alone.”

I’m already irritated enough.

If this keeps up, I’m worried I might lash out, but I’m in such a bad state right now, who knows what would happen if I got into a fight—I might accidentally k*ll one of them.

I really don’t want that to happen…

“Well, someone’s got quite the attitude,” one of them said, lightheartedly, before he leaned in closer, exaggeratedly inhaling and making a loud sound, “Mmm—smells good! Rich girl’s scent is just different… I like it.”

I stopped in my tracks.

A surge of rage welled up from my heart. I turned to glare at them coldly.

“What do you want?”

“Nothing much.”

Seeing me react, the three exchanged glances, and the one in the middle grinned, revealing a mouth full of yellow teeth, “Just having some fun. Are you looking for someone, sis? Let me help you.”

“Not necessary.”

My stomach hurts… my head is spinning…

“Don’t! It’s too unsafe late at night; there are too many bad guys around! It’s fine, stick with me… you’re looking for Abe, right? I know where he is.”

… What do you know, treating me like a three-year-old!

I saw the man signal to his two companions; they began to inch closer to me.

The unabashed, disgusting desire in their eyes made me feel a visceral urge to wipe them off the face of the earth.

I’m so annoyed, so annoyed, so annoyed…

Creeeak—

My eyes glimmered with a shade of blue light as I raised my right hand—the icy scythe instantly formed.

Frosty air quickly spread with the wind, brushing against the three men’s faces, covering their brows and hair with a layer of frost.

The men froze.

What was happening before them seemed to exceed their expectations. Their simple minds didn’t know how to react and remained rooted to the spot, their faces gradually turning pale with fear.

My head felt like it would split in two.

I suppressed the ominous rage inside me and reminded myself they were just ordinary people; I only need to give them a good beating and then stop…

Just then, a brief but hurried whisper floated down from a distant rooftop.

“Black-haired girl… sixteen… Frost Order…”

“She’s coming.”

“Three left… three right… flank her… may the God of Truth protect us.”

“God of Truth… protect us…”

The next moment, a fire ignited.
