I Come From the Abyss to Save Humanity Today – Chapter 813

Chapter 81: Eye of Wisdom (6)

[Regarding the research on the sea of flowers in Woodward Forest, we have made quite a bit of progress. I believe this experiment can certainly be called a new phase, a phase that brings us closer to success. We’re about to see the results, maybe in six months, maybe a year, but I believe it won’t be too far off…]

As I flipped to the third page, I was greeted by a new segment, but the entire sheet had been singed by high temperatures, possibly chewed by bugs, and was splattered with some disgusting remnants, leaving this part highly incomplete.

The worst part was that I noticed many of the subsequent pages were likely in the same state… Reading it became extremely disjointed; just when I was getting into a new segment, it vanished because of the damage. I had to point at the yellowing paper with my finger, my eyes quickly following to find the next bit of content.

[August 2, the Eye of Wisdom successfully awakened in the castle.]

[Based on previous experience, we no longer have to be overly cautious around it, but we still need to be sufficiently alert. I’ve ordered triple layers of barriers around it, and the Chain of Divine Lock plays a crucial role; at least eight people need to keep an eye on it at all times. It’s a pretty dangerous thing, even though it’s just the tiniest remaining eye of the God of Wisdom’s nine.]

The Eye of Wisdom…

What in the world is that?!

That massive eye that popped up in the environment…

Is that the eye of the God of Wisdom??

Does the Church have stuff like this???

Surprise and shock flashed through my mind as I quickly read on, trying not to miss any legible words. Amidst the flames, that dark eye swung back and forth, and I felt my brain getting increasingly muddled, eagerly wanting to know more clues.

[After the Fire Seed perished, it lost its conscious awareness long ago, but even today, it still poses a significant risk of losing control. Without a bone structure as a medium, it can’t be fully controlled by humans like most relics; even the extracted tissue fluid struggles to merge and be handled effectively in experiments…]

This part of the notes felt a bit hurried, like it was hastily jotted down. It cut off here, so I flipped the page to peek at the backside of the third page.

[August 6, the transplantation of those flower clusters has finally been completed. I observed for two more days and confirmed the Power of Sin still exists, spreading out from the soil, which is a shocking fact.]

[I don’t know whether to be happy about this; it certainly saves a huge amount of human effort and resources, and most importantly, it saves us valuable time. But it also reveals a more terrifying side of “Divine Power Corruption.” Those flowers grown in the lava rocks from Woodward Forest… actually show no signs of wilting! They still want to devour everything within reach, albeit at a very slow rate, and, compared to Abyss Mud, their destructive power is far from impressive…]

… Flowers?

The stuff brought over from Woodward Forest is flowers??

As my mind raced, I continued to silently read: [Even so, it demonstrates that Gidales possesses that terrifying quality of being “undying and unkillable,” which makes me anxious but also overly excited. If the integration of Sin can indeed overpower the Mother Deity’s will, isn’t that exactly the answer we’ve been searching for?]

[To ensure nothing goes wrong, I ordered basic defensive miracles to be set up in the church to prevent any unexpected events. We can’t go through any more trouble; as of now, everything seems to be going smoothly, and we can officially start the experiment tomorrow. I hope we can keep this momentum.]

Next came a large blank section, bringing this page’s content to an end. I shifted my gaze to the fourth page of the notes.

[August 14, those chosen by the Eye of Wisdom have gradually begun entering dreams. The influence of divine power is already manifesting in them, even among some of our Knights and Clerics, who are starting to show symptoms—this is a bad sign. I’ve cast protective spells on everyone, but they still feel the impact of the dreams, although it’s mild; most just experience some dizziness and nausea.]

[I had those slightly affected concentrate their rest in the inner fort and increased the defenses there. Cardinal Michel is busy with other matters, so I’m primarily managing things these days. I can’t be careless; I need to… check the Eye of Wisdom…]

Again, there was a gap.

The whole sheet seemed like it had been torn apart; when I flipped it over, I found that it was still largely missing content. The next several pages were also absent, skipping ahead to who-knows-how-many pages later. Calming my growing annoyance, I focused again, only to find it was already recording something else.

But this handwriting was very neat:

[Gidales’s physical form has extremely complex characteristics, with physiological and vascular structures beyond imagination. Although they mostly resemble humans on the outside, internally, there are fundamentally different structures.]

[Though huge, they possess skin nearly identical to humans, have eyes, limbs, and bones, and can even replicate hair with incredible detail. Perhaps it’s because they have a considerable liking for humans that they believe we are the most beautiful creations in the world. In reality, they can shape their bodies into any desired form; it’s merely a medium, not their essence.]

Below this long passage were hastily drawn weird sketches and markings, all jumbled messes. I could make out a heart, a spine, some unidentified blob of flesh, syringes, human anatomical diagrams, and the rest looked like random doodles. It seemed the author of the notes was in quite the chaotic state of mind, or perhaps only he could make sense of these things.

Flipping this page again, I found more “main content.”

[…Each Gidales has its own unique ideas on the distribution and planning of their essence within the physical form. Although they mostly appear humanoid, their internal structures are fundamentally different from humans.]

[Gidales do not possess important organs like livers, kidneys, or rectums, as regular organisms do. In fact, they have no need to eat or excrete in the conventional biological sense. Apart from that massive heart in their chest, each organ derived from Gidales’ physical form merely serves as a carrier for varying degrees and properties of “Divine Power”—and they act as a medium, albeit typically with different properties.]

[Typically, their bones primarily store the sources of divine power, while their organs are more about the characteristics of divine power. For example, the corrupted horn of the God Danalcis belongs to the organ category. Its divine power characteristic is “order,” the force that governs the rules of the world. This power is known to be bestowable on humans and other creatures, but it requires a bone structure that acts as a source of divine power to support it—something historians have also confirmed.]

[Once that kind of power characteristic is bestowed, it detaches from the Gidales’ autonomous will. Unless the organ is completely destroyed, humans will retain abilities that should belong exclusively to fairies and dragons for centuries, possibly even longer…]

[Of course, this situation isn’t absolute; there are still plenty of exceptions. Like that once-powerful shield the Royal City was so proud of. It ensured the stability of that great city for thousands of years without being breached, yet the vertebrae that served as its power characteristic’s “protection” medium was supported by the bones of an ancient deity… and through verification by the heretics, divine power can indeed be transferred, needing merely a more sufficient medium.]
