113 Another Ceremony?
The elemental attribute awakened after enlightenment is only related to the user themselves and isn’t influenced by the guidance method or learning content during the enlightenment phase.
What they learn during enlightenment is merely about sensing magic and mobilizing it, nothing fancy.
So, who will Mu’en ultimately take after, Dad or Mom? Well, it’s anyone’s guess!
But the day of her awakening is getting closer, and soon we’ll find out!
The day after getting the library key from Roswiser, Leon took Mu’en to the library.
Once they step in, the neatly arranged bookshelves stretched out in a row, and there was just too much to take in at once.
Leon couldn’t help but sigh; there had to be at least ten thousand books here.
A private library this big? Roswiser really knew how to blow the budget!
But then he thought—how on earth can that Mother Dragon read all these books?
But on second thought, the Dragon Race can live for thousands of years, which humans can’t compete with.
With a millennium to spare, you could binge-read all these books, even if you treat it like a part-time job!
Leon shook off those thoughts and held Mu’en’s little hand, walking past row after row of bookshelves.
Although there were tons of books, they were categorized in a super standard way, with every genre represented!
They even had all sorts of novels about love, monsters, myths—you name it, they had it!
But Leon wasn’t here to philosophize or k*ll time.
He needed to teach Mu’en the basics of magic while figuring out his own magic depletion issue.
He picked a few beginner books and led Mu’en to a desk near a big window.
He lifted Mu’en up and sat her on his lap, then opened one of the selected books, “Introduction to Young Dragon Magic.”
“Oh, I know this one! Sister read this book before~” Mu’en pointed at the contents, her little face lighting up.
Leon chuckled and patted her head, “Then it’s time for Mu’en to follow in your sister’s footsteps and study hard!”
“Okay~”
After all, she was a genius’s little sister; even if she was a bit silly at times, it didn’t mean she’d be dumb when it mattered.
Leon had high hopes for his little cotton-padded jacket.
As he flipped through the pages, he explained some basic concepts of magic to Mu’en.
In terms of theoretical fundamentals, both the Dragon Race and humans had similar teaching styles.
“Magic energy is a mixed force, created by combining the user’s physical strength and mental power, then channeling it through the body’s magical circuits to produce the desired result.”
Leon explained the composition and usage of magical energy in the simplest way.
Little Dragon Girl listened intently, her tuft of hair bobbing, then asked, “Daddy, what’s mental power?”
“Mental power is just a term. You can simply understand it as ‘willpower,’ ‘intention,’ or ‘strong thoughts about a particular goal.’ Of course, that’s just a simple understanding; the specifics can get quite complex.”
As Leon spoke, he picked up another book.
“For example, when Daddy picks up this book with his hand, doesn’t he use some strength?”
Mu’en nodded.
“At the same time, that strength comes from the thought ‘I want to pick up the book.’ Together, these two drives complete this simple action.”
Mu’en blinked her big beautiful eyes and gently said, “But, but if Daddy’s intention isn’t strong, he can still pick it up, right?”
Simple explanations can have their loopholes!
But of course, Leon left that gap intentionally. He wanted Mu’en to think for herself and ask questions; that way, it would stick better.
“Hmm, you’re right, Mu’en, but that’s just a simple action like ‘picking up a book.’ The impact of will or mental power isn’t very significant here.”
Leon continued, “But if it’s something complicated like ‘casting magic,’ then mental power’s influence has a huge effect. Let’s make two extreme assumptions.”
“Okay, Daddy, you go ahead,” Mu’en said, fully focused.
This was way more fun than listening to little dragon tales!
“One person is healthy and in good mental condition; the other is also healthy but, for some reason, really resist using magic.”
“Now, we set the same goal for both—using Dragon Flame.”
“Who do you think will get better results, Mu’en?”
Mu’en raised her hand, “The first one!”
“Why’s that?”
“Because Daddy said magic energy is made up of physical strength and mental power, so with equal physical strength, the strength of mental power determines the final magical outcome.”
Leon pinched her little cheek with a grin, “Correct! The strength of the intention to ‘use Dragon Flame’ also decides the final effectiveness of the spell. On the other hand, what I mentioned about ‘not wanting to use magic for some reason’ is just a general statement.”
Mu’en tilted her head, “What does that mean?”
“The reasons for not wanting to use magic can vary. For instance, just finishing a fight and wanting to rest; or maybe a friend got defeated, and you felt pressured by the opponent. There are many reasons. So, during magic studies, there are specific courses focused on practicing mental strength and willpower, which you’ll encounter later.”
“Oh, okay, I’ll remember,” Mu’en said, nodding diligently.
“Of course, having enough mental power isn’t enough—physical strength is also crucial. Mu’en has been doing physical training, which is awesome!” Leon praised.
Little Dragon Daughter wagged her tail proudly, “Of course! Mu’en doesn’t want to fall too far behind her sister!”
What a good daughter! Always aiming high; at this rate, she’ll outshine the other Dragon Kings in no time!
After explaining a bit more, Mu’en busied herself with practices.
Finally, Leon could focus on his own stuff.
He moved to the bookshelves filled with magic books, carefully selecting titles that might be useful.
Having just reviewed the composition of magic energy with Mu’en, a new thought hit Leon.
“Since magic energy is made up of physical strength and mental power, I’ve got enough physical strength, my mental power should be decent too, so why am I still in a state of depletion?”
He murmured to himself, picking books while sinking deeper into thought.
“Is it that I can’t produce magic energy? … No, I’ve been able to briefly use Thunder Element magic when practicing Dragon Strength with Roswiser, which means I can combine magic energy.”
“So, what’s going on…”
After spending the morning digging through countless ancient magic tomes, he found some precedents regarding magic depletion, but when he tried those solutions, they yielded no results.
Great, what a headache.
Looks like this would be a long-term project, Leon thought to himself.
At lunch, Leon took Mu’en to the dining hall.
Roswiser was already there.
“Mommy~” little Dragon Daughter called sweetly, shaking her tuft and running over.
Roswiser picked her up with a smile, “Did you learn a lot this morning?”
“Not tiring at all! Daddy explained it really well; Mu’en listened super seriously!”
Roswiser rubbed her daughter’s cheek. “That’s good! Mu’en should hurry up with her enlightenment; Mommy is so looking forward to the day you awaken your own elemental powers!”
With that, she looked up at Leon, her gaze filled with meaning.
Leon let out a light snort, knowing exactly what that Mother Dragon was thinking.
Whether Mu’en ultimately awakens Fire or Thunder Element won’t hugely affect her future learning, but it’ll greatly impact the family hierarchy!
Noia had already awakened the Thunder Element, which was a trump card for Leon and Roswiser’s bragging rights.
If Mu’en also awakens the Thunder Element, Leon might just pop champagne in Roswiser’s face!
But if it’s the Fire Element, the Queen would regain some ground, reclaiming advantages and putting that annoying Dragon Slayer back in their place.
Their competitive spirit was quite the sight, like a normal couple bickering over which parent the kid looks more like!
Lunch progressed slowly.
Halfway through, Anna approached with a letter.
“Excuse me, Your Majesty, His Royal Highness, it’s a letter from the Academy.”
Anna handed the letter to Roswiser.
Roswiser opened the letter, scanning it thoroughly.
Leon put down his utensils too, worried about the implications for their daughter, “What does it say?”
Roswiser handed the letter to Leon, “The Academy is inviting us to attend Noia’s writing competition award ceremony.”
