Chapter 133: Little Bunny Good Bunny 2.0
Ten minutes ago, Roswiser was tossing and turning in bed, struggling to fall asleep.
It wasn’t anything stressful; just the lovely insomnia that comes from being pregnant.
When she was expecting Noia and Moon, she often couldn’t sleep before midnight either.
She lay flat on her back, staring at the ceiling, her quilt pulled up to her chin, exposing just her nose for some precious air. Her hands rested gently on her belly, a rather “demure” sleeping posture.
Her silver eyes sparkled like beautiful crystals in the night.
This dragon lady had a habit of letting her mind run wild when she couldn’t sleep.
And Roswiser was no exception.
Her thoughts flitted from various embarrassing tales from her childhood to the current state of pregnancy with her second child.
Two hundred years of memories zipped through her mind in just a few seconds—
The queen wasn’t quite familiar with human culture, so she didn’t realize this behavior is called “a carousel of recollections.”
But usually, such reflections only happen just before people start to kick the bucket.
After reminiscing, Roswiser closed her eyes, trying to drift off.
But sleep was far from her.
She blinked, fluttering her long eyelashes, recalling snippets of her breakfast chat with Leon.
She pondered their conversation and realized they both seemed to be dodging the topic of the second child like it was a fireball.
Roswiser didn’t know exactly what Leon was thinking. He only mentioned on the night they confirmed her pregnancy that, no matter the outcome, he would face it all with her.
She knew Leon wouldn’t lie to her.
But for some reason, Roswiser wanted to hear more from him. She craved to know his inner thoughts and feelings about this second kiddo.
Pregnancy brought out all sorts of bizarre thoughts, even she didn’t quite understand.
But asking Leon directly was like poking a bear. That stubborn Dog Man wasn’t going to just spill his guts!
“Wait a minute, inner thoughts…”
Suddenly, Roswiser shot up in bed, whispering ‘inner thoughts’ repeatedly, then glanced at the clock,
“Two twenty-five in the morning…”
The queen smirked, “Isn’t it a fine coincidence, dear captive? I happen to want to play a little truth-or-dare with you right now!”
She tossed aside the covers, slipped on her dragon wing slippers, and threw on a nightgown before striding out the door.
Roswiser carefully pushed open Leon’s door.
She never let Leon lock up while sleeping; it made her surprise inspections easier.
At first, Leon tried to resist, twisting the lock this way and that, but it didn’t really do any good.
Because Roswiser had a universal key that opened all the doors in the Silver Dragon Temple. No matter how fancy Leon made the locks, they wouldn’t stop her.
She tiptoed through the door and silently made her way to Leon’s bedroom.
Just in time: two-thirty.
She reached the bedside, ready to ask Leon about his thoughts on baby number two, but was shocked to find that Dog Man was nowhere to be found!
Roswiser frowned, “Where is he…?”
“Whoosh~ Whoosh~~”
The curtain by the balcony billowed in the wind, making a rustling sound.
Roswiser glanced over and saw that the balcony door was open.
Who sleeps with the balcony door open in this season? Even if you’re the top Dragon Slayer, you’ll catch a cold in the morning, right?
Roswiser strolled to the balcony, peering left and right, spotting nothing amiss.
But still no sign of Leon.
“Out gallivanting at this hour.”
Grumbling, Roswiser’s gaze fell upon the balcony of her own room.
She blinked and cautiously made her way over.
Standing at the balcony railing, Roswiser looked down and noticed some footprints and scratches.
Inspecting closely, she determined these marks were fresh.
In an instant, her eyes widened in realization, and she promptly turned around and hastened back to her room.
…
The sounds of hurried footsteps approached—definitely Roswiser.
Leon had to avoid being caught by that Mother Dragon in her own bedroom after midnight.
If she found him there, she’d have a million reasons to blame him.
She could accuse him of foul play, of treason, or say if he just wanted to have a chat about assignments, he could’ve come clean instead of sneaking around—
oh~
N!! O!!
I, Casmod, am clean and above board in this life; how could I let someone tarnish my reputation?
Think fast, think fast!
Desperately scanning the room, Leon played out various escape scenarios in his head.
Should he leap back over the balcony?
No, Roswiser had crossed the threshold and would be back to the bedroom in a few seconds; he wouldn’t make it and might get caught halfway.
If that Mother Dragon said, “You can’t move now, can you, Dragon Slayer?” that would be curtains for him.
Since he couldn’t sneak back over the balcony… what about hiding under the bed?
Nope, that was way too shabby.
That wouldn’t fit the high standards of a top Dragon Slayer.
Leon was like a finely-tuned AI, scanning every corner of the room and weighing the pros and cons of hiding places.
Ultimately, he decided on the study.
Roswiser loved to read, but she wouldn’t be doing that at this hour, right?
With a plan in mind, Leon darted into the study.
Just as he closed the study door, Roswiser stepped into the bedroom.
She knew Leon was in that room.
But she didn’t rush to expose him.
Catching a captive in a jar is a game best enjoyed slowly.
However, she needed to figure out where that guy was hiding.
Roswiser glanced toward the balcony, then under the bed; no Leon in sight.
That left the bathroom and the study.
And since the bathroom door was ajar, that ruled it out.
So the study was the only place left for him to hide.
Roswiser knew exactly what Leon was thinking at that moment.
He was probably waiting for her to fall asleep before he snuck off, hoping to do it without anyone noticing and pretend nothing happened in the morning.
And as fate would have it, Leon was indeed pressed against the door in the study, listening to the sounds from the bedroom.
Why did Roswiser understand Leon’s thoughts so well, you ask?
Because just recently, during the bunny girl incident, she had sneaked into Leon’s room looking for those bunny girl photos and got caught right in the bathroom!
That was an unforgettable day; she almost grew to hate bathrooms because of that ordeal.
And now, the tables had turned.
Because she had once braved the rain, she was now going to steal Leon’s umbrella!
Oh, you want me to sleep? Fine, I’ll sleep so you can listen!
Roswiser purposefully walked heavily to the bedside, then threw the covers aside twice to create some noise, making Leon think she had just settled in.
Then, she slipped off her shoes and quietly approached the study door.
Patiently waiting for someone to open the door from inside.
Roswiser lightened her breath; she knew that when a person was tense, their senses became especially sharp, and Leon was only a door away from her.
If she suddenly slammed the door, that Dog Man would jump out of his skin.
But a moment of fear and shock was too easy.
Roswiser wanted to enjoy torturing him slowly, relishing his helplessness.
So, time ticked away, about twenty minutes later, Leon thought Roswiser must be asleep by now.
He listened closely, confirming there were no sounds, then gently reached for the doorknob.
Freedom, freedom was moments away!
Open this door, traverse the hallway, return to his room, dive under the covers, and sleep through it all, acting as if nothing happened when morning broke.
Flawless plan!
Leon bit his tongue, feeling all his energy funneled into that one hand on the doorknob, moving slowly and carefully to avoid making a sound.
Click—
It opened.
Leon gently pulled the door open, ready to step into—
“Hey, dear captive, didn’t expect you to be such a bookworm, sneaking into my study at this hour?”
Bang!!
Leon slammed the door shut and leaned against it, gasping for air.
Outside, Roswiser remained calm and collected, a smirk dancing on her lips as she said slowly, “Open the door.”
No response.
Roswiser chuckled softly, cleared her throat, and said,
“Next up, Miss Melkway would like to request a song for Mr. Leon, titled ‘Open the Door,’ please enjoy!
“Little Leon, don’t be shy~ Open the door~ I want to come in~~”
“You can forget it, Mother Dragon! There’s no way I’m opening that door!”
Hearing Leon respond with the exact words she once had, Roswiser covered her mouth, chuckling.
So this is what it feels like to catch a fish in a net?
Delightful!
Everyone says there’s no such thing as perfect empathy in this world, but all Roswiser wanted to say was they hadn’t met the Queen and her captive yet.
Right here, right now, she was perfectly experiencing what Leon felt back then!
A melodious song drifted through, but behind the door, Leon found it was the grim reaper’s whisper.
He couldn’t open the door.
Absolutely couldn’t.
He would stall for as long as he could!
“Open the door, Leon. Would you like to spend your life hiding in there? Hurry out, I won’t do anything to you,” Roswiser coaxed.
Leon blinked, as if recalling something, and hurriedly replied, “You can’t do anything to me, Roswiser. You’re pregnant; we can’t—”
“I know, that’s why I said that. Come out and chat with me.”
Roswiser understood well enough that they couldn’t bump uglies during pregnancy.
So indeed, she couldn’t do anything to him.
Leon let out a sigh of relief and cautiously opened the study door.
The silver-haired beauty stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe, smiling sweetly as she eyed Leon.
“Coming to my room in the dead of night, what do you intend to do?”
Leon’s gaze darted around, stuttering, “Nothing…”
“Not telling? Fine, I have my ways of getting you to talk.”
Leon swallowed hard; after all, he was the intruder in Mother Dragon’s lair, so he naturally lost the upper hand in intensity.
He observed Roswiser, unsure what other tricks she might have up her sleeve aside from the ‘homework’ topic.
Then, Roswiser’s beautiful eyes fixed on him, and suddenly, something stirred beneath her nightgown.
The next moment, a silver tail slowly slithered out from under her skirt.
Leon stared at the wiggling tail, realizing something terrifying.
“No way… Roswiser, you wouldn’t dare…”
