Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You – Chapter 14

# Chapter 15: Dad’s a Good Dragon!

Roswiser barely had a free moment during the day.

As the Head Maid Anna put it, she needed to personally oversee all matters concerning the Silver Dragon Race, big and small.

Not until seven or eight in the evening could Roswiser wrap up her busy day and finally sit down for a breather.

So, naturally, the job of taking care of the kids fell to Leon.

Besides playing games with Moon, Leon didn’t let her cultural studies slide either.

Leon’s thought process went something like this:

“Listen up, my sweet daughter! Right now, we’re living under the thumb of that Mother Dragon and making faces at her, but one day, your old man will whisk you away from here. You might be a half-bl**d little dragon lady, but you absolutely must become a cultured little dragon lady.”

This was actually a line from his Master years ago.

Though the exact wording was a bit too ridiculous.

“Leon, being an orphan is fine, but you should aim to be a cultured orphan.”

Leon almost sent his Master’s false teeth flying after that.

Thinking of his Master made Leon’s heart ache a little.

He had been with the Silver Dragon Race for two years now, and it’s likely the Empire had long since marked him down as a fallen hero.

His Master had once called Leon the most promising child he’d ever seen, declaring that he’d become a great Dragon Slayer, shining brightly on all the battlefields.

And Leon hadn’t let his Master down, either.

He became a renowned Dragon Slayer, a hero spoken of throughout the land.

In fact, aside from shining on the battlefield, he also shone in the Silver Dragon Queen’s bedroom.

Leon bore this humiliation, convincing himself it was a covert mission deep behind enemy lines—embracing the shame for the sake of a greater goal.

He believed that someday he could escape with his sweet daughter!

But before the great getaway, aside from keeping himself in shape, he also needed to continue wooing Moon to his side.

The little dragon lady was the key to his escape plan.

After all, in the entire Silver Dragon clan, she was the only one with a decent relationship with Leon; the rest of the dragons would unquestionably side with Roswiser.

“Daddy, I want to hear more of yesterday’s story!”

In the room, Moon was sitting on Leon’s lap, holding up a book titled “Cutesy Tales for Young Dragons.”

Leon felt a flutter in his heart, hesitating a bit.

Half-breed, half-breed. You’re a mixed bl**d, so can’t you learn a little about human culture instead of always dragon stuff?

At the very least, learn something about humans to give your old man a little face!

Leon snatched the storybook from Moon’s hands and put it aside.

“Hey, little Moon, how about I tell you some stories from other races?”

Moon’s eyes sparkled at this, nodding eagerly. “Yes, yes! Daddy, tell me!”

“How about a story about humans?” Leon proposed.

Moon blinked, then shook her head.

Leon was taken aback. “Why not?”

“Mother said humans are a bunch of shameless fools who pull some really gross stunts when no one’s watching. Especially that… Dragon Slayer Army they have, the name sounds really scary!”

Leon pondered Moon’s words.

The name ‘Dragon Slayer Army’ was indeed pretty intimidating for a dragon.

If Leon heard that a powerful foreign race had formed something called a “Human Slayer Army,” he’d probably find it pretty terrifying too.

But what do you mean by “shameless fools” and “gross stunts”?

Are you indirectly pointing fingers at that Mother Dragon over there?

Leon glanced at Moon’s earnest little face; she seemed utterly convinced by everything Roswiser told her.

Wow.

Looks like that Mother Dragon got to her first; winning over the little dragon lady would be no small task!

“Actually… it’s not quite fair to say that, considering every race has its two sides. You might think most humans are shameless fools, but there are likely some good and hardworking ones too.”

“Two sides…” Moon chewed on this unfamiliar term.

Her little brain didn’t seem ready to handle such advanced vocabulary just yet.

“Uh-huh, it means you can’t look at something from only one angle; you need to consider different viewpoints. You might discover something completely new!” Leon explained.

Moon seemed to ponder this, her little tail wagging. “But I’ve never seen a human, so I have no idea what their other side is like.”

Sweetheart, the one holding you is 100% pure human.

Leon sighed helplessly in his heart but patiently elaborated to Moon,

“So now Daddy will tell you some stories about humans, which might give you a whole new understanding of this race.”

Moon tilted her head.

Though she didn’t quite get why her dad was so fixated on telling her about humans, she was willing to listen to anything he said as long as she could chat more with him.

“Okay, Daddy, go ahead. Moon is listening!”

Leon secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Naturally, a daughter is a daughter, such a good listener!

From there, Leon spun quite a few classic tales and legends of the human world for Moon.

Of course, Leon also didn’t forget the emphasis on “two sides.”

Moon’s impression of humans was largely based on what Roswiser had told her.

So, he couldn’t just blurt out, “Your mom’s full of stereotypes; listen to your dad, he’s never wrong.”

He had to take it slow and gradually change Moon’s perceptions of humans.

This was to make his future escape easier.

Before lunch, Leon explained the concept of “the duality of things” to Moon and even provided some examples.

Hoping she might take something from it.

Moon was sitting on Leon’s lap, fiddling with the tip of her tail, quietly ruminating.

Leon wasn’t in a rush; he gently stroked Moon’s hair and waited patiently.

After a long while, Moon suddenly lifted her head. “Daddy.”

“Hmm?”

“You said everything has two sides.”

“Yep.”

“Then what about us dragons?”

Leon was taken aback. “Dragons, the Dragon Race…”

“Yeah, exactly! Mother said, in our dragon culture, strength reigns supreme. A dragon spends its life striving to become stronger, often paying a hefty price, even the price of life.”

Leon’s pupils twitched, thinking, so that Mother Dragon has even sugar-coated the naturally violent and bloodthirsty nature of dragons into strength worship, huh…

Moon continued, “So Daddy, do you think there are many dragons who actually don’t want to be stronger and just want to live in peace?”

“Well, probably not… because—”

Because brutality is simply the nature of dragons—

“How could they not? Daddy, you just said everything has two sides. There surely are dragons who yearn for a peaceful life,” Moon stated seriously.

The way her words struck Leon was like a light bulb turning on.

He sat there, stunned, recalling what he had just said.

He had criticized Roswiser for her stereotypes about humans, labeling them all as fools. Hence, he explained to Moon that not all humans are like that, that everything has two sides and we should look at matters from different perspectives.

But when Moon mentioned dragons, he immediately fell into double standards, holding a blanket belief that all dragons must be violent and bloodthirsty.

Leon bit his lip, lost in thought.

Moon’s words might not be entirely correct, but they certainly offered Leon food for thought.

“Daddy?”

“Ah? Oh… Moon makes a good point.”

“Right, right! Actually, Daddy’s just the kind of gentle dragon Moon mentioned!”

As she spoke, little Moon snuggled up, resting her cheek against him.

She really loved being close to Leon, perhaps because he emitted that special gentle aura unlike other dragons.

Even the Head Maid Anna often came across as more mechanical, just doing her job.

Well.

If someone else called Leon a dragon, he would’ve flipped.

But if his daughter said it, then maybe it’s valid.

Leon smiled and cupped Moon’s little head, “Moon is also very cu—”

Halfway through his compliment, Leon suddenly recalled that Roswiser had previously mentioned that calling someone “cute” was derogatory among dragons.

You dragons sure have a lot of weird rules, Leon thought internally.

Just as he pondered how to flatter his sweet daughter, there was a knock at the door.

He carried Moon over to open it.

It was the Head Maid Anna.

“It’s lunchtime. His Royal Highness, please temporarily hand over the Princess to me.”

“Sure.”

Leon placed Moon into Anna’s arms.

Moon stretched out her arms reluctantly, “Daddy, will you play with me this afternoon?”

Leon nodded, “Of course.”

“Okay, it’s a promise.”

“Yep, a promise.”

Anna took Moon and left the room.

Leon sighed in relief, turning to the balcony.

He peered down at the courtyard below where Roswiser was discussing something with a dragon guard.

After a brief exchange, the guard nodded and then vanished into the yard like a ninja.

Noticing Leon’s gaze, Roswiser turned to look up at the balcony.

Leon didn’t shy away; he stood there, meeting Roswiser’s gaze.

Once the strongest Dragon Slayer now faced off with the haughty and aloof Silver Dragon Queen.

A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and the noontime sun felt as warm as a lover’s embrace.
