### Chapter 159: The Arrival of the Red Flame Dragon King
It was a lightning-fast attack! The Red Flame Dragon Race shattered the defenses of the Silver Dragon territory at light speed, charging straight for the Holy Temple.
The charred corpse tossed into the Silver Dragon Temple was the first warning bell, signaling the start of war.
Outside the temple, hundreds of giant dragons circled overhead.
Their Dragon Flames ignited the night sky, filling the air with roars and cries, while enormous dragon bodies plummeted from above like poorly thrown piñatas.
The battlefield on the ground was a scene from a horror movie; in less than half an hour, the fighting escalated to a bloody frenzy among the Silver Dragons and the Red Flame Dragon troops.
Magic blasts collided, close-quarters combat erupted; no tactic was left untried.
Dragon bl**d stained the earth red, severed limbs flying everywhere, and the sight was a grotesque banquet of corpses.
The heavens themselves seemed to be collapsing, like a world ending in chaos.
War between dragons reached a level of brutality that was beyond any words could describe.
Ten kilometers away from the temple, Head Maid Anna led an elite squad of maids fighting bravely.
Sherry fought alongside her, holding back several attacks from the Red Flame Dragon Race.
For now, they hadn’t transformed into their dragon forms for battle.
Remaining in humanoid shapes allowed their magic to be more precise and made it easier to command and observe the chaotic battlefield.
Beside them, other Silver Dragon guards took to the skies, where the Silver Dragons held a natural speed advantage. Even if they were overall weaker than the Red Flame Dragons, aerial combat favored speed.
On their fifth assault, the Red Flame Dragon troops were repelled. Anna and Sherry quickly huddled back-to-back, taking a breather.
“Have they not broken through the encirclement at the back mountain?” Sherry asked.
“Nope, they came prepared, lying in wait for ages. They even blew up the emergency escape route,” Anna wiped the bl**d from her face.
“What about reinforcements? No nearby dragons have sent troops?”
Anna bit her lip and shook her head. “They don’t want to provoke Constantine. No one dares send support.”
“Idiots! If the Silver Dragon Race falls, do they really think Constantine will let them off?” Sherry exclaimed angrily.
As they deliberated, a soldier rushed over to report.
“Head Maid, Queen Isar of the Red Dragon Race has responded. They’re aware of the situation here, but a portion of their forces is being held back by the Red Flame troops. It’ll be at least three hours before they reach us.”
“Held up by the Red Flame forces…”
Anna’s pupils trembled, and her thoughts raced.
She remembered the last time when the queen mentioned that the Red Flame Dragon Race intended to attack the Wind Dragon Race. The Wind Dragon King had sought help from the queen’s sister, Isar.
But for months, war had yet to break out—just some minor skirmishes and annoyances.
Now, with the Silver Dragon Temple attacked and the Red Dragon’s reinforcements stalled by the stationed Red Flame troops…
This was all part of Constantine’s plan!
He never intended to attack the Wind or Red Dragon Races, merely distracting them with faux engagements, drawing the attention of the dragon kings away.
Then, on the day of Roswiser’s delivery, he struck, leaving the Silver Dragon Temple isolated and without leadership!
The plan was meticulous, yet one detail baffled Anna:
How could Constantine know this day?
“Head Maid, here they come again.”
Before Anna could ponder further, the Red Flame Dragon Race launched their sixth assault.
Grinding her teeth, she raised her sword, pointing it at the advancing Red Flame Dragons.
“Swear to protect Her Majesty!”
Silver Dragon soldiers shouted and roared as they tangled with the Red Flame forces once more.
Meanwhile, inside the temple, Roswiser was still struggling through childbirth pain.
This wasn’t her first rodeo, but that ripping sensation was still unbearable.
The mountainside echoed with several explosive magical blasts, likely from the squads Anna dispatched, fighting tooth and nail to break through the encirclement, all to ensure the queen, the prince, and the two princesses could evacuate safely.
Moments later, a maid rushed in. She scanned the room and realized Anna wasn’t present.
Roswiser couldn’t give commands in her condition, so the maid walked up to Leon.
“Your Royal Highness, we’ve opened up an escape route! The Red Flame Dragon forces on that path have retreated. Her Majesty can leave through there.”
Hearing this, the maids and doctors in the room sighed in relief.
Breaking through the encirclement meant they could safely move the queen.
But Leon didn’t immediately allow them to take Roswiser away.
He frowned and pondered. “Something’s off…”
“What’s wrong, Your Royal Highness?” a doctor asked.
Leon stepped onto the balcony, glancing at the maid who reported.
“A while ago, the Red Flame Dragons had the back mountain completely sealed off; not even a fly could enter! Now they’ve suddenly left a route open? Something smells fishy. Where did they retreat from?”
The reporting maid paused, pursed her lips, and pointed to a small path at the back mountain.
Leon squinted. “Are you sure? All the Red Flame Dragons on that path have withdrawn?”
The maid hesitated, then nodded, “Yes, I’m sure.”
Leon furrowed his brow and slowly raised his hand, snapping his fingers.
In an instant, brilliant lightning flickered in the air above the indicated path.
From beneath the lightning, a few red dragons burst out of the forest, spitting Dragon Flames toward the light, clearly thinking it was a trap.
Too bad it was just a birthday celebration.
If the maids had really taken Roswiser out through that path, they would have walked right into an ambush.
Leon turned back, his gaze icy as he looked at the maid. “Use your brain when fighting.”
The maid panicked, quickly kneeling. “Your Royal Highness, it was my oversight… I’m so sorry…”
Leon ignored her and walked towards his two daughters.
The other maids and doctors fell silent, exchanging glances, unsure of what to say.
If it weren’t for the prince’s cautious reminder, they would’ve really made a grave mistake.
Collecting herself, the maid returned to tending to the birthing Roswiser.
Leon, meanwhile, had nothing more to say.
He didn’t understand the Silver Dragons’ battle strategy and couldn’t issue orders.
But he could recognize the cunning tactics in warfare.
The empire once hailed him as the strongest Dragon Slayer, not just because of the number of dragons he’d slain.
His commanding skills, tactics, and ability to deploy forces were all top-notch.
However, since Anna had already set everything in motion, he didn’t want to seize control and take over her command; it would throw the entire Silver Dragon army off balance.
Moreover, Anna had undeniable skills.
In this sudden ambush and leadership vacuum, if it were Leon, he wouldn’t have any better plans either.
He crossed his arms, gazing at the gruesome battlefield ahead. The Silver Dragon troops seemed to be slowly gaining the upper hand.
On the battlefield, Sherry pierced a Red Flame Dragon through the chest, flinging its corpse aside.
Then, she looked back at the Holy Temple’s entrance, having advanced about seven kilometers compared to two hours ago.
Great! The Red Flame Dragon’s encirclement was starting to collapse; maybe they could really hold the line.
However, unfortunately, disaster was lurking.
Just as Sherry’s momentary smile of advantage was about to bloom, she caught sight of growing shadows on the ground.
Suddenly, realization hit her like a ton of bricks, a wave of fear exploding in her heart.
Her body trembled like a rusty machine as she slowly turned around.
Before she knew it, the entire sky was obscured by enormous dragon wings.
In the next second, a powerful gust of wind hit, bending Sherry over.
A low, rumbling Dragon Breath swept across the battlefield, and those crimson wings and long tail announced the giant dragon’s identity.
The overwhelming, soul-shaking presence left all the dragons there gasping for breath.
Snap—
Sherry dropped her sword, staring up in a daze, her silver dragon eyes locking onto the imposing Dragon King, her pupils slowly losing focus.
“Constantine…”
The Red Flame Dragon King, Constantine, had arrived.
Fear instantly engulfed Sherry, and even as the torrent of Dragon Flame surged toward her, she was frozen.
Luckily, Anna sprang into action, yanking her collar and pulling her back from the edge of d*ath.
Sherry collapsed to the ground, the pain snapping her back to reality.
“Report back! Constantine is here! We need to break through the encirclement at the back mountain with all our might!” Anna ordered.
This command indicated that the battle here would soon end due to Constantine’s presence.
A Dragon King-level opponent was on an entirely different scale compared to Anna and her elite dragon warriors.
Thus, since the collapse of the front was merely a matter of time, a full breakout at the back mountain became imperative.
The Silver Dragon Temple might be lost, but they needed to protect Her Majesty’s life.
Looking at Sherry’s back, Anna felt a sudden sense of relief.
“You’re right, Your Majesty; a dragon’s life is too long. Right now, I, too, prefer the fleeting beauty.”
With that, she faced Constantine and spread her wings, transforming into her dragon form.
Even as a dragon, she was only a quarter of Constantine’s size.
Before him, Anna seemed like a mere insect trying to stop a moving car.
But she would not back down; every member of the maid team had sworn to protect the queen.
Furiously flapping her wings, Anna charged at the mountain-like enemy.
Like a moth to the flame, aware of the nearly fatal end, yet still pressing forward.
Dragon Flames gathered in her mouth and blasted out.
Constantine merely glanced at her with his disdainful crimson dragon eye, effortlessly swatting away Anna’s full-force Dragon Flame like it was nothing.
The impact even staggered Anna; mid-air, she struggled to regain her position and charged at Constantine again.
Several fireballs exploded against Constantine’s dragon body, but none left a scratch on his scales.
His immense bulk moved slowly toward the Holy Temple, completely ignoring Anna and the other Silver Dragon troops’ attacks.
Seeing her magic attacks ineffective, Anna roared, placing herself in front of the Red Flame Dragon King.
With all her might, she pumped her wings, using her body as a weapon, charging toward Constantine recklessly.
Yet, to Constantine, this was like a gnat trying to shake a tree.
He raised his huge, sharp dragon claw and easily pinned Anna to the ground.
His claw pierced Anna’s wing, bl**d gushing out uncontrollably.
Despite being firmly pinned, Anna continued to struggle, shooting Dragon Flames at Constantine.
But in vain.
Realizing the absolute disparity in power, Anna froze.
She couldn’t believe a dragon could be this ridiculously powerful.
But it was only a dragon king with such terrifying strength that would dare attack other dragon races, right?
Despair gradually enveloped Anna, as well as the entire Silver Dragon army.
The moment Constantine arrived on the battlefield, everything seemed to be decided.
…
Inside the temple, the atmosphere was deathly still; it was as gloomy as it could get.
Moon held back tears, burying her little face in her sister’s arms, clutching her clothing tightly.
Noia’s hands trembled; the apocalyptic scene before her was far too much for a child to bear.
Yet, she clung to her sister, comforting her.
Milan and the other maids were silently watching Anna being brutalized by the overwhelming Red Flame Dragon King, all of them muted.
It felt like… there was no need to struggle anymore.
Roswiser opened her eyes from the pain; she could sense a tremendous presence on the battlefield.
The presence unique to a Dragon King.
She knew, Constantine had come.
That hero of the dragon race who opened up territories for them thousands of years ago, his strength was unrivaled among the dragon kings.
“Your Majesty…”
Milan bowed her head, not daring to look at Roswiser. “I’m sorry, but we’re likely… already defeated. No one can k*ll a Dragon King like Constantine. No one…”
No one dared refute her statement because it was an accepted truth; it’s just that Milan was brave enough to voice it.
“k*ll… the Dragon King…”
Roswiser whispered those words, gripping the bedsheets as the pain in her abdomen surged. “Isn’t killing a Dragon King something someone specializes in?”
“What do you mean, Your Majesty?” a nearby doctor asked, puzzled.
Roswiser closed her eyes, a tired, resigned smile creeping onto her pale face.
At this point, there was no other way out.
She softly called out the name of that man,
“Leon…”
He promptly walked to Roswiser’s bedside, still wearing a serious expression.
“I can’t manage anymore… Leon, I can’t…” She gazed at her former nemesis, hopelessness filling her silver eyes.
Leon stayed silent, but Roswiser saw his answer in his gaze.
She shut her eyes, a hot tear slipped from her corner and soaked the pillow. “You know where I hid your stuff; the key is in the second drawer.”
Leon nodded, opened the drawer, and retrieved a key.
Next, he bypassed the crowd, kneeling in front of Moon and Noia.
First, he squeezed Moon’s cold little hand and then looked at Noia.
The father-daughter pair exchanged a glance, each carrying a thousand words to say.
Finally, Leon merely said, “Protect your sister and mother. You can do it.”
“Daddy… you’ll come back, right?” Noia trembled and asked.
“Yep, I’ll be back. Didn’t we promise to go to the beach together?”
He patted Noia’s head and, without saying more, stood up and walked toward the door.
“Leon!… Leon…” Roswiser’s faint voice called out.
Leon paused at the door, half-turning his head to respond in a low voice,
“I know; leave it to me.”
With that, he said no more, opening the door and sprinting out of the temple.
He arrived at Roswiser’s secret warehouse, using the key to unlock the door, descending the stairs, heading to the very back.
There, he found a wooden crate, opening it to reveal a suit of black armor.
As if reuniting with an old friend, Leon reached out, fingers brushing against the chest plate of the Black Gold Battle Armor.
“Old friend, let’s go crazy one more time.”
