Title: Are We Talking About the Same Constantine?
So after a brief exchange of what each of us knew, Leon brought up something particularly important. This was something that Roswiser had reminded him about recently—despite going from cohabitating to long-distance, his stubborn and prideful wife was still outputting!
“By the way, Master, do you know the Red Flame Dragon King, Constantine?”
“Constantine? Of course. He’s an ancient dragon king, only existing in the cracks of historical texts. I hadn’t even encountered him in person in my younger days.”
Taige chimed in, “It’s said that Constantine is an ancient hero of the Dragon Race, with unfathomable power. The previous Dragon Slayer Army had a few run-ins with him, but they always returned empty-handed. Truly a formidable adversary!”
“Wow, is there really such an impressive dragon king?” Rebecca asked, eyes wide.
Taige nodded, “He was revered as a hero of the Dragon Race precisely because, in the early stages of the war, he snatched countless territories from various foreign races—not just humans but also some more mysterious ones. It’s a pity I never got the chance to face such a strong dragon king. I hope I get to challenge him someday.”
Leon scratched his head and cleared his throat, “Master, I’m afraid you might never get that chance again.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I… well, I killed him…”
Taige: ?
Rebecca: ??
Oh boy, the reunion of the two B-kings of the Dragon Slayer Army is really something. Rebecca was so engrossed in her drama that she’d completely forgotten about the can of beef stew in her hand.
“We’re talking about the same Constantine, right?”
Taige wasn’t disbelieving of his apprentice; he just wanted to double-check.
“Uh… yeah?”
Leon said, “He was planning to invade the Silver Dragon Temple not long ago, and at that time, Roswiser… had a special situation. The Silver Dragon Race couldn’t hold out, so I had to intervene a bit…”
Smack—
Rebecca suddenly slapped Leon on the shoulder with her tiny hand, her little face serious, “Captain, you actually helped the Silver Dragon Race! You really have gone rogue, huh?”
Leon silently facepalmed, “No… I said it was a special situation! You think I wanted to?”
“What do you mean by ‘special situation’?” Taige asked.
“Well… um…”
Leon’s gaze darted around, fidgeting uncomfortably.
Rebecca was practically shaking with curiosity next to him, “Come on, just spit it out! What’s the special situation?”
“It’s that the third princess of the Silver Dragon Race was about to be born at that time…”
“Who cares if she was born? Why didn’t you just take the opportunity to… you know, off her?” Rebecca shot back.
Taige squinted slightly, as if he’d already pieced it all together, “Rebecca, your captain isn’t avoiding it because he doesn’t want to.”
“Then what is it?”
“The third princess of the Silver Dragon… that’s his third daughter, right? Leon?”
“Daughter?! You had a daughter with the Silver Dragon King?! Or three?!”
Click—
Rebecca immediately pulled a handgun from behind her waist and pointed it at Leon’s temple.
“Old man, step aside! I’m gonna clean house right now and pop this traitor who consorts with foreign enemies!”
Taige remained calm, knowing Rebecca was only joking. Her g*n was still on safety, and her finger was nowhere near the trigger.
Mad or not, this girl had some sense.
“Before you pop him, maybe we should hear him out first.”
Taige said, “When the Silver Dragon King came to see me a year ago, he didn’t mention any details about you two.”
“Master… can we discuss Constantine first before getting into my and Roswiser’s…”
“Constantine is toast; why talk about him? You and the Silver Dragon King are the hot topic! Spill the beans! Who was chasing after whom?”
When Taige met Roswiser, he held back his curiosity to keep up appearances. He didn’t pry into what her relationship with Leon was.
But now his apprentice was back, and they were all family. Time to drop the act!
Leon glanced at his master, then at Rebecca, who was itching to hear more like a spectator at a circus. He sighed internally.
Looks like unless he spilled the beans about his not-so-glamorous past with Roswiser, these two wouldn’t cut him any slack.
“Well, I guess… she was the one pursuing me first?” Leon said.
“Oh? My apprentice has some charm? Tell me, how did she chase you?”
Leon replied flatly, “She imprisoned me.”
Rebecca squealed with glee, “Spicy!”
But Taige, being a bit older, didn’t quite grasp what “imprisoned” meant in the context of young love.
But, thinking about it, it should be… pretty sweet, right?
The Dragon King fell for a human, feared losing that human, so he kept him “imprisoned.”
Yeah… that made sense, Taige thought.
“The Silver Dragon King left me with a photo when we met.”
As he spoke, Taige pulled out a folded photo and opened it up, revealing a family portrait of Leon’s family.
Rebecca leaned in curiously.
She wanted to see what kind of heavenly beauty could make her dense Captain’s heart flutter.
Peering closer, Rebecca exclaimed, “Ho ho ho, she’s indeed a real stunner.”
Leon raised an eyebrow, “Wait, she actually gave you the photo?”
“Yeah. At first, I just thought it was great you were alive, no matter if you were missing limbs or suffering torture. Just being alive is already better than anything.”
Taige looked at the photo of Leon, then at the two little dragon girls, and couldn’t help but smile with satisfaction. “But I didn’t expect you to be living it up so well. Not only did you marry the Silver Dragon King, but you also had two adorable daughters.”
After a pause, his voice lowered, “Seems like there’s really no reproductive barrier between humans and dragons…”
“But Captain, this little girl without the distinguishing hair seems to have a bit of a temper,” Rebecca pointed at Noia in the photo.
“Ah… back then, Noia had some misunderstandings with me, but once those were cleared up, she liked me just fine.”
“Her name is Noia? What about this one?” Taige had been holding onto that photo for a year and still didn’t know the names of his two lovely granddaughters.
“Moon, it means lunar.”
“Oh, that’s a nice name.”
Leon licked his lips, rubbed his hands together, and asked, “Master, can I see the photo?”
“Sure, here you go.”
Taige handed it over to Leon.
He took it, pinching one corner and lowering his gaze to examine it closely.
In the photo, he and Roswiser were forming a heart shape; he used his hands while she used her tail, which looked quite romantic from the photographer’s perspective.
But back then, they only felt awkward and embarrassed.
Looking back now, it truly was… quite romantic.
The union of human and dragon, forming a heart shape in their own respective ways—how romantic!
At that time, Roswiser and Leon’s relationship wasn’t so harmonious. She tried every trick to make his life miserable.
Noia also held some misunderstandings toward him, often sporting a frosty glare and refusing to engage.
Only Moon would follow him around sweetly calling him “Daddy.”
Even though it had already been a year, recalling those scenes remained vivid in his mind.
This photo marked the beginning of this “fake” family, carrying one of Leon’s most valuable memories.
Of course, he didn’t want that time to become just a memory in the future.
If possible, why not let it continue on? What could be wrong with that?
Leon’s fingertips gently brushed over the faces of his two daughters, finally sliding to Roswiser’s face.
Silver hair, silver eyes, breathtaking beauty. She was so lovely, it felt like she stepped right out of a painting.
After staring for a while, Leon smiled.
Noticing the odd look on their captain, Rebecca leaned closer to Taige, whispering, “What’s going on with him?”
“Isn’t it obvious? He’s reminiscing about someone while looking at a photo.”
Master clearly knew what he was talking about—no wonder he was the Master, seasoned and wise!
