Chapter 3: Revenge Begins
Leon was at a loss for what expression to wear in front of the little girl clutching his leg and calling him “Daddy.”
Honestly, he wanted to yell, “Sweetheart, how can you just call anyone ‘Daddy’ like that?”
Did you mistake me for someone else, perhaps?
After calming himself down a bit, Leon squatted back down, holding the thin arm of Moon, and asked, “Hey, little friend, I just woke up and don’t know anything. Is it possible you’ve mistaken me for someone else?”
Moon shook her little head, her tuft of hair bouncing along. “No way! Mom comes here every day to check if you’ve woken up, Daddy!”
Before Leon could ask more questions, Moon grabbed his hand and started tugging him towards the door. “Let’s go find Mom! She’ll be super happy to see you awake!”
Really, sweetheart?
You’re sure your mom will be happy to see me?
If she doesn’t chop off my head, I’d be grateful, let alone being ‘happy.’
While he was busy mulling this over, Leon noticed the dragon tail behind Moon as she turned.
Though it wasn’t as thick and long as Roswiser’s, it was adorably petite, igniting an irresistible urge to reach out and touch it.
“Wait, wait, wait, Moon!” Leon snapped back into reality and hurriedly yanked on the little girl.
Yet he couldn’t help but feel how surprisingly strong this three or four-year-old human cub was.
Even though Leon had just woken from a coma and felt weak, he shouldn’t be nearly losing grip on such a big child.
Looks like dragon bl**d is quite potent, huh? An unexpected pregnancy and boom! Genetic advantage!
And just the thought of having a daughter who’s a natural powerhouse… Leon felt a somber wave wash over him.
The dragon-slaying youth had become the father of an evil dragon.
“What’s wrong, Daddy?”
Moon continued to call him Daddy, making Leon feel uncomfortably shy.
“Uh… I wanna know, how long have I been out?”
Moon blinked those big beautiful eyes, her warm pupils filled with confusion over basic math and calendars.
“I—I don’t know… But I come with Mom to check on you every day!”
She pointed to the hanging clock on the wall. “Ten o’clock! Mom comes to see you every day at ten!”
Leon turned to look.
It was now nine fifty.
“Daddy! Daddy! Mom comes to see you every day, why aren’t you smiling?” When Leon stayed silent, Moon asked again.
Leon grinned weakly.
You wanna know why I’m not smiling?
In ten minutes, my nemesis, who raised a kid without affection but first secured a kid, is coming to visit me.
How can I smile?
Leon hastily looked around the room for any cracks he could slip into.
But what kind of crack could fit a fit twenty-year-old in this tiny nursery?
He glanced at the big bed in the room, pondered for a moment, and thought, why not just pretend to be dead?
Without a second thought, Leon launched himself into a belly flop onto the bed.
Confused, Moon scampered over to the bed, her bare little feet patting softly against the floor. “Daddy, aren’t you coming to see Mom?”
“Shhh, when your mom comes in, just say I’m still not awake.”
Moon scratched her little head. “Why? Mom really hopes you wake up!”
“Umm… Because… Daddy wants to give Mom a surprise, you get it?”
“Surprise!”
Little Moon’s eyes sparkled, her tuft of white hair and tiny tail swaying happily.
“Yep, surprise! You want to help Daddy make Mom happy, right?”
“Absolutely!”
“Then when Mom comes in, pretend you know nothing at all.”
“Okay! Moon will listen to Daddy!”
I’ve got to say, Leon had quite a talent for managing to deceive a child.
Once he settled Moon down, Leon closed his eyes, returning to his previous stiff posture.
About ten minutes later, the door creaked open, the clicking of high heels echoing gently on the floor, growing closer.
Roswiser, the queen of the Silver Dragon Race, even if Leon didn’t open his eyes, he could still feel that regal presence enveloping the room.
“Moon.”
“I’m here! Mother!”
Her cheerful tone clashed with the tension in the air.
Roswiser raised an eyebrow. “Why are you so happy?”
After a brief hesitation, Moon shook her head. “I’m not happy, Mother.”
Roswiser’s dragon eyes narrowed, scrutinizing her daughter’s innocent but troubled face.
Moon was pretty earnest in answering Roswiser’s questions.
Nothing wrong with that.
But a bit… too earnest, maybe?
Also, Moon’s tail was wagging behind her.
Dragons only wag their tails excitedly when something thrilling is happening.
Normally, they’d do like Roswiser—keep their tails relaxed and down.
Roswiser didn’t pry further into her daughter’s musings, instead slowly shifting her gaze to Leon, who lay unresponsive in bed.
Calculating the time, this guy should’ve been out for two years.
It was about time for him to wake up.
Maintaining her calm demeanor, Roswiser said, “Alright, I see. Go play for now.”
“Mother…”
“Is there something else?”
“Nah, nothing. Moon’s going to play now.”
“Okay, be safe.”
Moon glanced back at her pretending-to-be-asleep dad, then dashed out of the room.
Roswiser glided over to the bedside and gracefully sat down, her silver tail draping across the edge of the bed as she observed the “unconscious” Leon.
Saying nothing, doing nothing.
After a while, the queen chuckled softly.
Leon heard her soft laugh loud and clear.
He had no idea what that meant.
Did he just blow his cover?
Impossible! His act was airtight!
Leon’s fingers curled subtly, tightening into a fist.
He knew he had done something dreadful to Roswiser, and she must have loathed him for it.
The only reason she hadn’t killed him while he was out cold was that she was waiting for him to wake up, so she could relish torturing him slowly.
But Leon wasn’t about to give her that satisfaction.
If pretending to be asleep somehow backfired, he would go head-to-head with Roswiser.
Suddenly, Roswiser slipped off her high heels.
Clink—
The sound of those heels hitting the floor was crisp.
Then came the rustle of fabric against the sheets.
Oh, boy, that made one’s heart race.
The next moment, a gentle scent wafted toward him, brushing against Leon’s face.
He knew that fragrance well.
It was the last scent he inhaled before passing out in the cell.
Although wine had masked it then, he still got a whiff of it.
What on earth is this mother dragon doing getting so close?
Is she planning to do him in silently?
Oh, how thoughtful for a little evil dragon. If there’s too much commotion, little Moon might hear.
Seeing something like that would surely leave a big psychological scar on a child.
Leon stayed put, instead willing to see just what this mother dragon intended to do.
Roswiser slowly extended her forefinger and thumb towards Leon’s nose and mouth.
And then—
She gently pinched his nose.
“Oh, forgot your mouth.”
Saying this, the queen brought her other hand to cover Leon’s mouth.
But it wasn’t meant to suffocate him; he could feel her controlling the pressure.
She just wanted to make breathing a bit troublesome.
If she’d wanted to suffocate him, she’d go straight for the throat.
Looks like this is Roswiser’s way of testing if he’s awake.
Leon held his breath with all his might.
If he could just get through this, once Roswiser left, he’d figure out how to escape.
Time ticked by.
Roswiser had her patience, kneeling beside Leon, covering his mouth and nose.
Leon could hold his breath; his face remained as calm as a stone.
Come on, I’m the strongest dragon slayer here! I can hold my breath underwater for twenty minutes!
“Wow~ you can hold your breath for so long,” Roswiser said, somewhat playfully.
Leon felt a surge of pride, but the next second, he felt warm breath tickling his ear.
Roswiser leaned forward, carefully blowing warm air into Leon’s ear.
That delightful warmth slipped into Leon’s ear, then crept down beneath his shirt.
Tingling sensations spread all over his skin, making him feel a bit restless.
Along with that warmth came the faint, sweet scent from Roswiser’s breath.
You—are you testing my resolve with this?
What leader can withstand such trials?
Ha.
Childish mother dragon!
But that’s not all Roswiser had up her sleeve.
Seeing that blowing didn’t do much, she slightly opened her mouth and gently bit down on Leon’s earlobe.
It hurt a little, but the real sensation came from the female touch.
Leon clenched his fist on the other side, but now, it wasn’t for a counterattack;
It was to suppress his primal urges.
Little evil dragon, you think this little act would fool the top dragon slayer of the Empire?
Ha!
Childish ×2!
“Hey, stop pretending! You’re clearly awake.”
“You’re talking nonsense! How would I know if I’m awake or not—”
Suddenly, the atmosphere turned awkward.
Roswiser sat next to him, her eyes narrowed in a smile. “Look, it’s clearly awake now.”
An awkward silence stretched for two seconds before Leon shot up from the bed like a fish out of water, raising his fist and said,
“Since you’ve discovered me, I have nothing more to say. Come on, do what you want, but I will resist!”
Roswiser carefully tidied her hair, completely unfazed by Leon’s threat. “Don’t you want to say something else? Maybe apologize for what you did two years ago?”
“…Do you think I wanted to? Dragons and humans are incompatible; under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t even touch you with a stick.”
Hearing this, Roswiser raised an eyebrow. “So, touching me is a form of torture for you?”
“Of course!”
“Ha, Leon Casmod.”
Roswiser’s dragon eyes suddenly turned cold and fierce, clearly signaling an impending attack.
Though Leon was still weak, he was going to resist until the last moment.
Just as Leon prepared to counter, Roswiser’s tail suddenly wrapped around his ankle, swiftly yanking him back down onto the bed.
Leon tried to get up again, but Roswiser stood up, her long legs gliding gracefully, and one delicate foot landed squarely on his chest.
“What are you doing…”
“Revenge! Leon Casmod, what you did to me two years ago, I’m going to return that favor!”
