Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You – Chapter 228

39 I Don’t Want To Either

But she’s calling me hubby!

That evening, Leon strolled into Roswiser’s study.

Instead of working late as usual, she was writing a letter to her sister Isar, saying that their grandmother had returned and would be staying with her for a few days before heading to Isar’s place, giving Isar some time to prepare.

Leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed, Leon observed Roswiser meticulously writing her letter. He slowly chimed in, “The old Dragon King mentioned there’s some survey happening in the Extreme North Land. What’s that about? Survey what?”

Without looking up, Roswiser continued her writing, “Unlike you humans, we Dragon Race don’t follow a hereditary system, so my grandmother isn’t the old Dragon King.”

After correcting the Dog Man’s way of addressing elders, she neatly placed the finished letter into an envelope and added, “As for the survey my grandmother mentioned in the Extreme North Land, I’m not sure what it entails. I just know she began poking around there many years ago.”

The Extreme North is essentially a barren wasteland, perpetually cloaked in ice and snow, rarely seen by humans.

Even the Dragon Race struggles to survive there for long, let alone other races.

It is said that the ice layer in the Extreme North is so thick that even the Red Flame Dragon King, Constantine, who embodies ‘burning’, cannot burn through it.

This claim is debatable, after all, who really knows if Constantine could do it if he put forth his all—

But everyone probably won’t find out (laughs).

So, from Leon’s perspective, there wasn’t anything there worth the old lady and a few other Dragon Kings investigating for decades.

Roswiser’s thoughts were similar to Leon’s; she suspected her grandmother was just using the survey as an excuse.

What her grandmother was actually doing in the Extreme North would remain a mystery.

Of course, since the old lady wouldn’t say anything, the couple didn’t pry any further.

After sealing her letter, Roswiser stood up and slipped into her dragon-shaped slippers, heading toward the balcony.

Leon followed closely behind her.

The Message Dragon perched on the balcony railing had been waiting for a while. Roswiser placed the envelope into the bamboo tube on the dragon’s back and gave its head a gentle pat.

With a satisfied chirp, the Message Dragon flapped its wings and soared into the night sky.

“So, do you have any leads on what the old lady just mentioned about the ‘Star Wanderer Dragon King’ and the other two Dragon Kings?” Leon asked from behind her.

Roswiser leaned on the railing, her gaze drifting among the stars and the bright moon. “Those three are ancient Dragon Kings; Rave even predates Constantine.”

Leon nodded thoughtfully.

Indeed, a bunch of old bugs.

He had never crossed paths with these three Dragon Kings in any of his military undertakings.

He had no idea how strong they were.

But if they were anything like Constantine… well, no need to fret too much.

Just because a blue spell can take down Constantine doesn’t mean the Red Flame Dragon King really requires Leon to unleash all his magical power.

Let me put it simply.

Imagine a top student and a genius taking an exam; the top student scores 100, and so does the genius.

The top student proudly declares, “See, we’re on the same level!”

The genius calmly replies, “No, your 100 is your personal limit, but my 100 is the maximum possible score.”

In short, my General Leon can take out a Constantine with one blue spell, but if a couple more Dragon Kings show up, I’ll just have to try harder to take them down together.

However, this was just about brute strength; what Leon found more intriguing was the previously unheard-of “space-type magic.”

“The old lady said Rave suddenly bailed from their survey mission, and shortly afterward, the other two Dragon Kings went off the radar. The common factor is they all used space-type magic.”

Leon inquired somberly, “Can you tell me what this space-type magic is all about?”

Humans had only been studying magic for a few hundred years.

But for Dragons? They’ve been at it for millennia.

No matter how knowledgeable Leon was, he couldn’t possibly learn the things that had never appeared in human history.

Like this space-type magic, for example.

“Oh, that… For the Dragon Race, space-type magic is like a fresh new toy. Rave became the tribe’s Dragon King three hundred years ago with his original space-type magic.”

Roswiser continued, “Eventually, some other Dragon Kings started to follow suit, dabbling in this area as well. There have been some modest successes. As you can see, while we don’t know exactly what my grandmother is doing up there, it definitely requires Rave’s space-type magic. Once he left, the entire action was put on hold.”

“Oh~ Is that so…” Leon pondered, stroking his chin.

Roswiser turned to face him, leaning against the balcony railing. “You seem to have something on your mind?”

After living together for so long, she could instantly tell when the Dog Man was deep in thought.

Leon smiled lightly, “Not so much a thought, just… a hunch.”

Roswiser tilted her head. “A hunch?”

“Yeah. Constantine is a Dragon King I’ve never heard of before and never fought against. Even among your Dragon Race, he hasn’t been active for many years. And just as he pops up, he gets caught with his pants down, proving he’s in cahoots with the Empire.”

Leon said, “And the three Dragon Kings, I’ve never heard of them either. Are they also rather low-key in your Dragon Race?”

Roswiser’s eyes lit up at his words, understanding unraveling in her mind. “They do tend to keep a low profile, and everyone thinks they are dedicated to studying space-type magic. But given what you said… it’s very easy to link them to Constantine.”

Leon shrugged, “The thought process has its merit, but we need some solid evidence to back it up.”

Roswiser knew precisely what he was hinting at, “You mean that ally of Constantine’s you mentioned?”

“Exactly. We’ve been waiting for four months now; the upheaval in the Red Flame Dragon Race should have calmed down by now, right?”

Leon felt a twinge of impatience.

Roswiser understood his feelings.

After all, it involved his beliefs, and he definitely wanted to unravel why the human Empire he once served pursued him relentlessly while seeking an alliance with the Dragon Race.

“Once Grandma leaves, we’ll head to the Red Flame Dragon Race and drag that guy out,” Roswiser promised.

Leon raised an eyebrow, unable to suppress a grin, “Oh, finally, I can stretch my muscles?”

Roswiser snorted; a long period without fighting had really stifled the Dog Man.

After chatting a bit more, the couple successfully skipped over the heavy topic.

Nerves and thoughts can’t be taut all the time; they need occasional rest.

On the small wooden table on the balcony, Roswiser had already prepared a bottle of red wine.

And, to round it off, five glasses.

Her grandmother’s unexpected visit and the latest intel had indeed been beneficial.

But it had also unknowingly piled on stress beyond work.

And the Silver Dragon Queen had two ways to relieve stress: either through her captives or through alcohol.

The captive had received some updates and could not be disturbed. Otherwise, it might end badly.

So, Roswiser resorted to drowning her sorrows in wine.

She sat at the wooden table, crossing her long legs, the silky fabric of her skirt sliding down her delicate skin to just above her thighs, with hints of black lace peeking through.

What’s she trying to seduce over here? Leon wasn’t falling for it.

He didn’t sit down but stood at the table’s edge, ensuring his eyes wouldn’t “accidentally” see anything inappropriate.

Thump thump thump—

Roswiser poured herself a glass of red wine, savoring it with a small sip.

The wine flowed into her stomach, leaving a delightful aftertaste lingering in her mouth.

As the cool evening breeze blew, she coyly remarked, “I prepared two glasses, Leon.”

Implying she wanted him to join her for a drink.

“What? Is one glass not enough for you now?” Leon pretended not to understand.

Roswiser rolled her eyes.

She knew talking to this Dog Man meant she had to be straightforward, or he’d definitely play dumb.

“Come drink with me.” The command from the Queen was short yet carried an air of authority that was hard to refuse.

Refuse? Not today, I’m revolting, thank you very much.

“I won’t,” Leon replied, “I can’t drink, and you know it.”

Roswiser leaned forward, resting her arm on the table, her chin gently on her hand, the strap of her dress slipping off her shoulder. She peered at Leon over the glass of wine.

Leon looked like a “big-headed doll” through her perspective.

She giggled foolishly, then pouted, adopting a somewhat spoiled tone. “Come on, drink a little with me. I’m under so much pressure.”

Leon closed his eyes, refusing to budge.

Such an act! Clearly playing pretend.

“Leon~”

Can’t hear you, buddy’s a bit hard of hearing.

“Le~on~”

Alright, mother dragon, that’s enough. I’m about to regurgitate.

“Dear Casmod~~”

Give it up; no matter what you call me, I won’t drink with you.

“Hubby.”

“Coming!”

Hey, don’t get it twisted; it’s just that I can’t take it anymore, not because she called me hubby!
