107 Dragon God Tiamat
“Primordial Magic, huh… I’ve heard of it, but not in detail.”
Leon reminisced briefly before continuing, “Back at the Dragon-slaying Academy, those old professors occasionally dropped a few notes about Primordial Magic.”
“They claimed that Primordial Magic was the kind of magic created by the ancestors of some races using the purest energy at the dawn of this continent’s chaos.”
“It doesn’t have any elemental properties like thunder, fire, or wind, nor does it transform into forms like Thousand Birds or Thunder Wolf Warfare.”
“Primordial Magic bursts forth from pure energy, and its effects differ greatly from the vibrant variety of elemental magic we see today.”
“But as for what it actually is… I’m not too sure. The academy didn’t offer any courses on Primordial Magic, and we didn’t look into it much.”
Listening to Leon’s description, Roswiser nodded in approval, “Primordial Magic has existed since the creation of this ‘Samal’ continent, over a million years ago. Not only you humans, even the Dragon Race have scant records about it.”
“But there’s one reliable point.”
Leon raised an eyebrow. “Oh? What’s that?”
“The Dragon God Tiamat, according to historical records, is one of the ancestors who created Primordial Magic.”
“Dragon God… Tiamat…”
Another name Leon had never heard before.
But this time, its prefix wasn’t “Dragon King,” but rather the more prestigious “Dragon God.”
If Tiamat was one of the ancestors of Primordial Magic, then it had existed longer than all of human history, so it made sense Leon wouldn’t know about it.
“There are descriptions in the dragon race’s history books stating that all dragons are branches of the Dragon God Tiamat.”
“Over a million years ago, Dragon God Tiamat created powerful Primordial Magic to resist the chaos of the world.”
“In the end, Tiamat united several mysterious racial ancestors to achieve the magnificent feat of ‘Creation,’ but it exhausted itself in the process.”
“Before dying, Tiamat split its remaining spark of power into several parts; these sparks would slowly grow over the long years, eventually evolving into today’s various dragon races.”
“During that evolution, Primordial Magic disappeared into the river of history, replaced by the current array of elemental magic.”
As Roswiser shared her knowledge, Leon’s mind began to wander. Remembering Roswiser’s desire to level up her skills, he asked, “You’re not thinking of practicing Primordial Magic, are you?”
Roswiser slowly turned her head on the pillow to look at Leon, smiling as she said, “Exactly! With the Dragon Pattern, I can store more magical power, so it should be possible to activate Primordial Magic.”
Primordial Magic was initiated by the purest energy. Although Roswiser’s elemental affinity was fire, as long as she didn’t release the energy she stored, it would remain in its pure ‘state’ within her.
But even so, activating Primordial Magic required a huge energy supply.
So, to solve the energy issue, Roswiser adopted the same strategy as Leon—using the Dragon Pattern to store magic power.
“But you just said that records of Primordial Magic are extremely scarce. Practicing it… should be pretty troublesome, right?”
“Of course it’s going to be troublesome! But relying solely on fire magic and the magic we learned is nowhere near enough!”
Roswiser asserted, “If I want to significantly boost my power in a short time without going to extremes, Primordial Magic is the only way, Leon.”
“…Yeah, I get it.”
“Hmm? So you’re agreeing to let me practice Primordial Magic?”
Leon smirked, raising his arms to rest his hands behind his head as he stared at the ceiling, saying lazily, “What can I do if I don’t agree? As my master would say, when your wife comes to tell you she wants to do something, she’s not seeking your opinion; she’s informing you.”
Roswiser perked up, propping herself on one arm and poking Leon’s arm, asking, “Got any classic examples?”
Leon thought for a moment and said, “Well, there was that time my master’s wife couldn’t sit still at home, bought a ton of needles and threads, and said she wanted to do some embroidery to earn some extra cash for the household.”
“My master initially said it wasn’t necessary; the farm’s income could support the family, and if things got dire, selling a donkey could also fetch a decent amount.”
“But my master’s wife acted all cute and insisted on doing embroidery—by the way, you act exactly like my master’s wife when you’re all cute.”
The Queen kicked Leon’s side with a swift kick, “Just tell your story without bringing this Queen into it.”
Leon grinned and continued, “In the end, my master couldn’t refuse his wife, so he had to let her learn embroidery.”
“But she didn’t seem to be very good at it, always ending up hurting her hands.”
“Eventually, after a month and countless band-aids, she finally finished a piece titled ‘Donkey Grazing.’”
“But after that, she never touched those needles and threads again. She said that when it came down to passing the time or keeping her fingers intact, the fingers won out.”
“Ugh.” With a sigh, Leon added, “So when your wife wants to do something, don’t stop her. She’ll crash and burn on her own later.”
Roswiser was starting to feel something was off. Once she figured it out, she leaned down onto Leon’s chest.
“You’re poking at me, aren’t you?”
“By the heavens, I was just sharing a funny family story! How is that poking at you?” Leon feigned innocence.
“You are poking at me, you are poking at me.”
As she said this, Roswiser lifted her foot and kicked Leon’s side again a couple of times.
This time, Leon caught her ankle promptly. “See? When you’re being cute, you’re just like my master’s wife.”
“I’m not being cute! I’m trying to kick you!”
“With your foot?”
“Duh! Who kicks people with their hands?”
“Hmm~~ Why do you want to reward me?”
Hearing this, the Queen quickly withdrew her foot and hid it under the covers.
“You greasy, narcissistic, thick-skinned married Dog Man! Go sleep on the couch!”
Since she called him thick-skinned, Leon made sure to give her a proper show of it.
What couch?
Didn’t hear you.
I’m staying right here in bed, hehe.
After a playful tussle, the couple eventually ran out of energy and took a break.
Under the covers, Leon cautiously moved his hand toward Roswiser and, seeing she didn’t resist, he slowly took her delicate right hand in his.
They sat in silence for a moment until Leon spoke up, “Have you made up your mind, Roswiser?”
“Hmm, Primordial Magic might not be the only way, but it’s the most effective one in the short term.”
Leon blinked and asked, “Roswiser, besides protecting our people and daughters, it seems there’s another reason. What is it? Can you tell me?”
Hearing Leon’s question, Roswiser bit her lip lightly and turned to look at him. “Do you really want to know?”
Leon turned to meet her gaze, “Yeah.”
Rustle—
The beauty sat up, her delicate skin brushing against the sheets.
She leaned in closer to Leon, pinching his chin, her fingertips gliding over the scars on his face as she looked into his dark, deep eyes.
“A long time ago, you were gloomy because of what Aug said, worried about losing me and the girls. That night, I talked to you a lot, and you unraveled your heart.”
“But just talking isn’t enough, Leon.”
“So I want to show you through my actions that I care about this family, our daughters, and I care about…”
Warm breaths brushed across his face, and a soft, delightful sensation met his lips.
She gently kissed the corner of Leon’s mouth,
“the person I love.”
