3 How Could I Be Jealous?
Roswiser led Rebecca to a quiet little riverside, where the two strolled along the pebble path, chatting away.
And gossip was always the most effective way for girls to bond.
“I know that Leon likes girls with silver hair,” Roswiser said. “So… what little secrets do you guys know that only classmates would?”
The first time she met Taige, the old man shared some of Leon’s dark history and a few of his not-so-unknown weaknesses. But those were just insights from a parent’s perspective.
If you really want to uncover all the embarrassing stories from someone’s school days, you need the inside scoop from fellow classmates!
And Rebecca wasn’t just any classmate of Leon’s; after graduation, she even got assigned to his dragon-slaying team.
With their relationship as close as it was, there’s no doubt that this little girl had some juicy dirt on Leon.
What? You ask why the queen is so keen to dig up her husband’s dark past after being married for so long?
Never mind that! This queen simply loves her gossip.
“Only classmates would know… Let me think.”
Rebecca pinched her chin, recalling seriously.
A moment later, she raised a finger. “Oh, there is! The captain got a ton of love letters during school, but he tossed most of them without even looking. However, there was one letter he hesitated over before throwing it away; you know about this, right?”
Roswiser nodded.
“That letter was from a senior, a tall, silver-haired beauty, and really stunning!” Rebecca’s enthusiasm was palpable as she recounted the captain’s past.
Roswiser gave her a side-eye.
But Rebecca quickly pivoted, “Cough, cough, but no one is as pretty as you, sister-in-law! Not even ten of her could match up to you! Hehe.”
The girl had a quirky vibe, but she was surprisingly sharp.
Roswiser covered her mouth, chuckling lightly. “So, what happened next?”
Rebecca opened her mouth to continue, but suddenly realized something. “Oh, sister-in-law, you… don’t get jealous often, do you?”
Roswiser raised an eyebrow. Looks like the dirt is pretty juicy if Rebecca felt the need to tiptoe around the topic of jealousy.
Ha! I’m a queen, not a vinegar jar; how could I be jealous just like that?
So Roswiser smiled and replied, “Not at all; I never get jealous.”
Rebecca shot her a suspicious look. “Really?”
“Yep, really! After all, I’m the Silver Dragon Queen, and I have a broad mind.”
Hearing this, Rebecca glanced at her sister-in-law’s ample bosom, then looked down at her own flat chest.
Well, she does indeed have a broad mind.
“Good to hear you don’t get jealous! Then I can spill the beans~”
“Go ahead.”
High Emotional Intelligence: Doesn’t get jealous.
Low Emotional Intelligence: Already handled the Dog Man before feeling jealous.
“Once, our academy held a ball where everyone could freely choose a dance partner.”
“I’m quite short, so no one wanted to dance with me; Martin doesn’t like socializing and didn’t go. So we just sat aside drinking, sneaking glances at the captain.”
“Oh, back then he wasn’t our captain yet, but the name Leon Casmod was already quite famous in the academy.”
“There were tons of girls asking him to dance, but unsurprisingly, he turned them all down.”
“But!”
Rebecca got more animated as she continued, “When that silver-haired senior asked him to dance, he actually said yes!”
“Though they only danced to one song that night, it was a big deal in the academy for a while!”
Until Rebecca finished her vivid storytelling, Roswiser maintained her elegant stride and demeanor.
But if Rebecca had looked closely, she would’ve noticed that Roswiser’s tail had shifted from casually dragging on the ground to being ever-so-slightly raised.
Dragons only raise their tails when their emotions get stirred.
Unfortunately, no, the crazy girl isn’t a dragon scholar; she doesn’t understand dragon behavior.
She just wanted to share the captain’s youthful black history with her beautiful sister-in-law. What’s wrong with that?
“What happened next?” Roswiser asked softly.
“Next? That silver-haired senior thought she was the one special enough to unlock Leon Casmod’s heart, and the fact that the captain agreed to dance with her was the best proof!”
Rebecca stood there with her hands in her pockets, leisurely adding, “Then she confessed; unsurprisingly, she got rejected.”
“After dancing with someone, she still gets rejected?” Roswiser asked.
“Don’t say that, sister-in-law, the reason he gave for rejecting her was… dancing!”
“Oh? How so?”
“When the captain later shared his almost-nonexistent dating history with us, he mentioned the main reason he turned down the silver-haired senior.”
“To put it simply, while her looks fit his type perfectly, her personality was nothing like what he expected.”
“While dancing, he could clearly sense that the senior was just following his lead and rhythm, and even when he made a misstep, she just went along with it.”
“He didn’t like that feeling.”
“He thought that in a normal relationship, both partners should stand on equal ground, but girls like her, including seniors, treated him like some unapproachable ‘star,’ which made him very uncomfortable.”
At this point, Rebecca paused, then chuckled helplessly. “But sister-in-law, you’ve lived with him for so long that you should know him.”
“That guy might occasionally act cool, but he’s excellent in every aspect and has a good personality and sense of responsibility. So chasing after someone that outstanding, how could one not unconsciously lower their own status, right?”
“Finally, I think~~”
Rebecca stretched lazily, deliberately dragging out her words.
Roswiser turned her gaze toward her, intrigued, eagerly awaiting the grand finale.
“There’s only one woman in this world who can conquer Leon Casmod.”
“Who?”
“It’s you!”
Rebecca squinted and grinned. “Although I don’t know you well yet, I can sense a dominant streak in your personality. In your daily life with the captain, you sure don’t let him have everything his way, right?”
Roswiser chuckled lightly, “Oh please, I wouldn’t argue with a smelly little guy in his twenties. That’s too childish.”
Really now, Your Majesty.
The various ‘tug-of-wars’ between you and your pretend husband could fill an entire sheet of paper.
“But sometimes I indeed have to discipline him,” Roswiser added.
“Exactly! The captain isn’t the type to listen to just anyone.”
Roswiser smiled faintly before asking, “Oh, by the way, do you remember which song they danced to back then?”
“Hmm… that was such a long time ago.”
Rebecca mused for a moment, then clapped her hands. “Got it! While I can’t recall the name of the song, I can hum it for you.”
“Alright, let’s hear it.”
Rebecca immediately began to hum a little tune.
Roswiser listened intently, and soon said, “Aha, I know which song it is now.”
“Hmm? Sister-in-law, you’ve been living among dragons, yet you’ve heard a human song?”
“Yep, not long ago, I started trying to learn and understand human culture.”
That was the truth.
Leon had seen those human books she brought in while studying with Little Light in her library.
“Oh, I see.”
Roswiser reached out and ruffled Rebecca’s little head. “Thank you for sharing all this! Is there anything else? Like… what is he afraid of or not good at?”
Rebecca pondered, “Oh, there is! Do you know his nickname back in school? It was ‘The Strongest Man on Land.’”
The queen blinked. “He’s strong… I know that.”
And I know it very well.
“No, no, no, sister-in-law, the point of this nickname isn’t ‘strong’ but ‘on land.’”
Roswiser frowned. “On land? What does that mean?”
“It means— the captain’s a landlubber! He aced all the various assessments and tests at the academy, except for swimming!”
“That impressive guy… can’t swim?”
Roswiser recalled their last family vacation by the beach; indeed, she hadn’t seen Leon swim at all during all those days.
“Yep, it’s true. That’s why everyone called him ‘the strongest on land.’”
Roswiser nodded thoughtfully and muttered, “Got it…”
Looks like it’s time to buy some new swimsuits for my little lion!
