Chapter 9: Love Tutoring Class (4)
The next morning, when Roswiser arrived at the Holy Temple’s public library, it was already packed to capacity.
The temporary location for the Love Tutoring Class was here, and the atmosphere was just buzzing with a readiness to learn.
Everyone seemed full of enthusiasm for the lesson—except for the fact that Your Majesty showed up a bit… late today.
Roswiser was aware of her tardiness, and her expression was notably subtle about it.
Milan noticed and asked with concern, “Your Majesty, are you feeling unwell?”
Roswiser quickly averted her gaze, “N-No…”
She regretted believing the Dog Man’s nonsense last night, where he promised just once wouldn’t delay her morning lesson.
Once led to another—again and again.
Roswiser, playing along with him like a child being coaxed—even though deep down, she didn’t want it to end either.
So it went—again, again, and yet again, with every time being the “last time.”
But with the double dragon pattern buff in effect, their motto became, “As long as you don’t d*e, just go all out!”
Thank goodness Roswiser had a workaholic constitution. This morning, she physically dragged her exhausted self out of bed, got herself groomed, and raced over to share her love experiences with her fellow kin.
She had planned to emphasize the importance of “respecting each other’s boundaries” in a relationship, as Leon had suggested last night.
But after a night of intensive battling, all she really wanted to say was:
Stay away from dragon patterns and cherish life.
The Queen sighed internally, shaking her head to dispel the chaotic thoughts.
Even though she was a bit tired, it didn’t stop her from explaining her understanding of love and relationships to her kin today.
“Good morning, Your Majesty.”
“Good morning! Your Majesty~”
“Good morning, Your Majesty!”
The kin and maids greeted Roswiser warmly.
She nodded and smiled in response to each of them.
Amid the adoring gazes of the crowd, she made her way to the large windows at the library. Here was the makeshift podium for the Love Tutoring Class.
Actually, it wasn’t strict at all—it was more of a “support group” vibe.
Roswiser made a brief opening statement and smoothly steered the topic towards the importance of “respecting each other’s boundaries” in relationships.
Leon’s words from last night had inspired her greatly.
She organized her thoughts and expanded upon them. It turned out to be quite easy to explain how love works.
The silver dragon kinsfolk listened attentively from their seats, some even pulled out notepads to jot down every golden nugget dropped by the Queen.
After about twenty minutes, Leon quietly arrived at the library entrance.
Roswiser was deep into her explanation, and the audience was so engrossed that no one noticed Leon’s presence.
He didn’t rush to make himself known. Leaning casually against the library door frame with his hands in his pockets, his gaze traversed the rows of bookshelves, tables, and chairs, landing perfectly on the silver-haired beauty surrounded by admiring glances.
“There’s an innate impulse in dragonkin—when emotions flare, it’s an impulse that cannot be restrained.”
“And often after such impulses, someone gets hurt.”
“Maybe it’s an enemy, maybe it’s ourselves.”
“But when we get into a relationship, this impulse can hurt the ones we care about the most as well.”
“We might find ourselves at the mercy of our emotions, saying the most hurtful things or doing things that aren’t understood.”
“That’s normal.”
“But normal doesn’t mean it’s right.”
“My dear His Royal Highness and I have had our share of arguments for various reasons in the past, and every time I wanted nothing more than to use the sharpest words to hurt him, so he’d know what happens when you cross me.”
“But in the end, I realized doing so only hurt us both.”
“Luckily, during those familial squabbles, we subconsciously allowed each other some breathing room, preventing our relationship from actually falling apart.”
“If we keep pushing each other, thinking that if we can back the other into a corner we can declare victory, I have to say—that’s not a victory; that’s true failure.”
“What we need to do is solve the problem, not treat each other as problems that need solving.”
“Respecting each other and knowing when to hit the brakes before touching each other’s boundaries is also a good way to maintain a relationship.”
“…”
She openly shared her insights and revelations with her kin.
Leon stood silently by the entrance, listening.
As he listened, he scratched the tip of his nose and chuckled to himself.
He wasn’t laughing because Roswiser was saying all the right things—after all, they exchanged plenty of sweet nothings last night, leaving behind more than just various unidentifiable fluids.
No, Leon laughed because just now, Roswiser referred to him in front of everyone as:
“Your Royal Highness.”
He thought that sounded more formal than “my husband” but somehow more relatable than “my spouse.”
Plus, it let the royal highness himself feel that little bit of pride in her voice when she said it.
Nope, he had to make sure the Mother Dragon shows off her affection for him more in front of the kin.
That way, he could hear more of her proud declaration of “your Royal Highness.”
…
More than an hour passed, and Roswiser had pretty much said all she wanted to.
Next up was the Q&A session.
“Your Majesty! Your Majesty! I read in a book that marriage is the grave of love—how should we interpret this?”
Roswiser pondered for a moment and replied with a smile, “I won’t disagree with that statement, but personally, I believe marriage isn’t the grave of love, it’s the beginning of the next phase.”
“Next phase?”
“Yep. If you’re not ready to step into marriage with your beloved, it can certainly feel like a cold grave; but if you are ready, then it’s a rebirth of love!”
Leon: Our love had no first or second phase; we started right off with pregnancy.
Kids, don’t try this at home!
“Your Majesty, over here! I want to ask—is having a baby a terrifying thing?”
“Hmm… It’s really a tiring ordeal, but not terrifying.”
“Your Majesty~ Your Majesty~ Does His Royal Highness get jealous if you spend too much energy on the princesses?”
“Nope, because obviously, he invests way more time in the kids than I do, so if anyone’s getting jealous, it’s me.”
“Does His Royal Highness comfort you?”
“I make him comfort me, and he happily complies.”
“…”
Questions continued.
By the time they reached the last question, it got a bit explosive.
“Your Majesty, when was the last time you kissed His Royal Highness?”
Upon hearing that, the Queen, who had been flowing with answers just moments before, suddenly paused.
Her cheeks flushed.
What to do?
Should she admit they just kissed this morning?
Wouldn’t that just make it seem like she and His Royal Highness were a bit too lovey-dovey?
Yikes!
Although this was a love tutoring class, was she perhaps overshooting with her answers?
As Roswiser brainstormed, she heard the Dog Man’s voice beside her.
“Your Majesty might not remember since we don’t kiss often.”
“Your Royal Highness!”
“Oh, look! The Queen and His Royal Highness are in the same frame again~”
In a flurry of teasing voices, Leon approached Roswiser’s side.
She glared at him and whispered, “Have you thought this through? Just don’t mess it up for me!”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got it figured out.” Leon replied.
Then, taking Roswiser’s hand, he smiled at the crowd of maidens and kin, and said,
“But I do remember when we last kissed.”
“When was that?” the maid Milan asked eagerly.
Roswiser also turned to him, curious whether he’d speak the truth or—
Before she could process, her lips were met with warmth and softness.
Instantly, her pupils dilated, her tail shot up defensively—classic penguin-style hand clasp!
When she finally recovered, she heard the audacious man beside her proudly declare,
“Our last kiss was just now!”
