32 Courage is the Anthem of Humanity!
The rain was pouring down harder and harder.
Leon was lounging at the head of his bed, one hand behind his head, while the other hand kept tossing and catching a small transparent box containing Dragon Strength—toss, catch, toss, catch.
The potion had been successfully brewed, but he still had some concerns.
Like…
Leon glanced at the few chili peppers on the table.
Most of the special foods from the Dragon Race were beyond the physical capabilities of humans.
Leon, too, had been trained like a diamond by his Master since childhood, and only after growing up did he become this sturdy.
Eating a few Dragon Race chili peppers was just child’s play; but this Dragon Strength supplement…
Wouldn’t the effects be so powerful that his human body couldn’t handle it and cause adverse effects?
What if it backfired, and instead of recovering, his body ended up worse?
Leon was caught up in his thoughts, tilting his head back and sighing towards the ceiling.
Just then, he heard someone push the door open.
He closed his eyes and hid the Dragon Strength beneath his pillow.
No need to look; he knew who it was.
“Hey, Your Majesty,” Leon said lazily.
Roswiser sat down by the bed. “You actually initiated a conversation with me tonight.”
“Well, yesterday it was you, and today it’s me. Seems fair.”
Roswiser chuckled softly, and instead of playing around, she got straight to the point.
“I heard from Moon that you brewed a special potion that looks a lot like chocolate candy for my health. But I know that was really meant for yourself, right?”
Upon hearing this, Leon instantly put away his nonchalant demeanor, sat up straight, and turned serious.
“Don’t be tense, I’m not here to interrogate you. I’m just surprised you could brew such a rare potion in such a rudimentary setting. Have you… let me see it?”
Roswiser smiled sincerely, her tone genuinely collaborative.
She could have easily snatched it from him by force, given that she was the Silver Dragon Queen in her own territory.
After all, Leon was using her materials to make Dragon Strength on her turf. If he was robbed, he wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.
But here she was, discussing it nicely with him.
Leon hesitated for a moment before pulling the Dragon Strength from under his pillow.
Roswiser took it, examining it carefully in her palm.
Leon watched her, thinking this mother dragon might take the chance to roast him for a bit.
After a moment, Roswiser nodded.
“Yes, impressive! To brew such a perfect pill under these conditions, you’re truly remarkable, Leon.”
She smiled and teased, “What’s that saying? A jack of all trades?”
Leon paused for a second.
Wait, she didn’t mock me?
He rubbed his nose, feeling a bit awkward in response to Roswiser’s unabashed compliment.
This mother dragon usually did everything to mock and ridicule him.
But now, upon seeing this genuine Dragon Strength, she acknowledged his talent.
Naturally, Leon’s heart was bubbling with pride.
And Roswiser, watching him bask in his glory, couldn’t help but chuckle to herself.
Gotcha, little dum-dum! Just a few compliments, and you’re on cloud nine now, huh?
Of course, her compliments came from the heart.
Having been drilled with the idea that strength reigns since childhood, she could acknowledge a person’s capability.
However, Roswiser then switched gears.
“However… you can’t take this potion, or rather, it’s not suitable for you.”
Leon raised an eyebrow. “Why not?”
“It’s a supplement for the Dragon Race, and its potency is too much for the human body. You won’t be able to handle it.”
Roswiser’s tone was serious.
“If you want to quickly restore your physical functions, I can have Anna and the others prepare a different type of nutrient. As for this Dragon Strength… the human body is far too frail to bear the power of a dragon. There has never been a precedent of a human using dragon medicine.”
At this moment, her expression and tone didn’t carry the mockery they usually did toward Leon.
In Roswiser’s understanding, humans indeed couldn’t bear such overwhelming power.
She was honestly warning Leon—
Though it sounded strange for her to warn an enemy.
Nevertheless, good intentions aside, Roswiser overlooked one critical fact.
How could Leon, a Dragon Slayer, easily admit defeat in front of a dragon?
“I’m not trying to hurt you, Leon. You can keep this potion, but your human body definitely can’t handle it—”
“Roswiser.” Leon interrupted.
“…Huh?”
“You promised me you wouldn’t let me d*e, right?”
Roswiser widened her eyes slightly. “Leon…”
“Honestly, I was still debating whether or not to take this potion. After hearing your thoughts, I’ve resolved my indecision.”
Boom—
Another clap of thunder erupted outside.
Leon hung his head, his black bangs covering his eyes. Roswiser couldn’t see his expression.
He stared intently at the pill in his hand and murmured,
“What does it matter how powerful a dragon’s strength is? I’ve already beaten countless Dragon Kings; what’s a little pill to me? Roswiser… don’t underestimate me.”
“Bravery… is the anthem of humanity!”
He was definitely growing more concerned about Roswiser’s opinion of him.
“Leon, you!—”
Crack—
He popped the pill into his mouth, biting down without hesitation and swallowing.
The pill slid down his esophagus into his stomach.
After two seconds of silence, a sudden heat surged in his gut.
Thump—
He clutched his stomach and half-knelt, feeling that heat course through his entire body.
A powerful force rampaged within him, as if it wanted to shatter every bl**d vessel and bone in his being.
He gritted his teeth, enduring the pain without making a sound.
Roswiser rushed to his side, crouching down and placing a hand on his shoulder. Instantly, a warm magical energy flowed from her hand into Leon’s body, attempting to help him diffuse the overwhelming potency of the pill.
This was the first time the Silver Dragon Queen used healing magic, and it was even to assist her nemesis.
With her brow slightly furrowed, Roswiser did her best to keep her voice steady.
“Leon? Leon?”
She gently shook his shoulder, but this guy was still with his eyes closed and appeared to be in agony.
Since awakening, Leon had always had some self-destructive tendencies; if it weren’t for his daughters still accompanying him, he’d likely have tried every means to end his own life by now.
Seeing that her healing magic wasn’t working, Roswiser hurried to stand up, preparing to find a dragon physician to treat Leon.
She grumbled internally about Leon being a lunatic, but she didn’t have the same bravery to gamble her own life like he did.
However, before she could leave his side, Leon suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Roswiser turned back to see him still kneeling there, one hand gripping her wrist while the other clutched his stomach.
“Watch closely, Silver Dragon Queen. This is human courage and… determination.”
Crack crack—
His hand pressed against his stomach suddenly burst forth with bluish electric sparks, making Leon’s body tremble slightly.
Roswiser’s pupils shook. “Are you using lightning magic on yourself… You really are a… lunatic, Leon.”
Though she said it, Roswiser still crouched back down beside Leon, supporting his shoulder as best as she could, while also using her magic to help dismantle the wild energy within him.
Unconsciously, she held Leon tightly, sharing in his pain and trembling.
Moments later, the tremors stopped, and the lightning around Leon gradually faded.
After a brief rest, he tried clenching his fist.
It was the familiar… power.
Seeing this, Roswiser let out a sigh of relief.
However, she didn’t congratulate Leon or express any happiness.
Wiping the sweat from her forehead, Roswiser suddenly realized their current embrace seemed a bit too intimate, so she quickly stood up and stepped back.
Finding Leon was fine, Roswiser was about to turn to leave.
But just as she turned, she felt something tugging at her tail.
Frowning, she turned back, gritting her teeth, “Let go, you j*rk.”
There was Leon, wearing a dazed smile, his gaze unfocused, cheeks slightly flushed, as if he’d been drinking.
Or maybe… caught in some illusionary magic.
In Leon’s eyes at this moment, Roswiser was no longer that proud and aloof Silver Dragon Queen.
She was sitting beside him, her smile sweet and cute, and her voice gentle as water. She was, in fact, his long-time… wife.
What came next was quite the bombshell.
“Where are you going?—Wife?”
