17 No Matter Who You Are
Get off my second sister!
“Hope our dinner suits your taste, Helena.”
The Leon family of five and their little guest gathered around the dinner table.
Dinner was quite the feast, with a few extra dishes added to welcome Noia home and express their enthusiasm for Helena.
Helena was also very polite, every word laced with honorifics, her demeanor graceful and poised, making her seem genuine and generous.
It’s astounding to see such social skills at such a young age.
Just earlier in the yard, Roswiser had sensed that Helena might not be from an ordinary noble family.
But she didn’t pry into which tribe Helena hailed from or her parents’ status.
After all, it was her daughter’s first time bringing a classmate home for a weekend; the focus should be on warmth and hospitality, not prying questions.
“I’ve always envied Noia. Not only does she have excellent parents, but she also has two adorable little sisters,” Helena said. “I come from a cocoon-born family, you see, raised only by my mom, so I don’t have any siblings. Growing up alone can be pretty lonely at times.”
Most traditional dragons come from cocoon-born families, having either just a dad or just a mom.
There may be siblings, but often they are only related in the slightest way.
Sisterly bonds like Roswiser and Isar are quite rare.
Being friends with Noia indicates these two little ones must have some common ground, perhaps in how they view ‘family’ or ‘relatives.’
Leon and Roswiser were well aware of how much Noia valued her family.
If Helena shared that same view of family, as a cocoon-born young dragon, she might indeed envy Noia’s bustling household.
Who wouldn’t want a constant companion during childhood?
“It’s okay, Helena! If you enjoy more noise, you can always come over to my house and play!” Noia said.
“Really, Noia?”
“Mm-hmm, really.”
“That’s awesome~ Thank you, Noia-chan~”
Helena leaned over, wrapped her arm around Noia’s shoulders, and gently rubbed her cheek.
Being a few years older, Helena’s height overshadowed Noia’s, making it look like an older sister hugging her younger sister.
As for Noia’s reaction, she didn’t seem to mind this intimacy with Helena.
Let’s remember, this stubborn little mule usually doesn’t like physical contact with others.
Just when Leon first met her, she’d even said that without her permission, no one could touch her.
Leon and Roswiser exchanged glances, probably guessing why their daughter accepted Helena’s hug.
First, since Helena was a friend Noia could bring home, it meant they had a good relationship, so a hug wouldn’t be strange;
Secondly, it has to do with Noia herself.
She was far more mature than the average young dragon, taking care of Moon since she learned to understand things.
After Little Light was born, she played a significant caregiving role too.
Plus, not long ago, there was that crisis with the rift, and those grueling six months made Noia grow up quite a bit.
But premature growth often brings mental fatigue and weariness.
Noia rarely opens up to others; even Leon and Roswiser don’t fully grasp their daughter’s inner world.
It’s a subtle phenomenon in families—sometimes, even faced with the closest people, one might not share their sorrows or troubles.
But Helena was different.
She was Noia’s friend, a role that allows for intimacy outside of family.
Being a few years older, she could easily play the older sister role.
Even if it was something neither had ever explicitly mentioned, the reality was there; Noia might subconsciously seek some emotional value from Helena as a ‘sister.’
Snuggling into Helena’s embrace allowed her tightly wound nerves to relax, even if just for a moment.
This is the importance of friends.
The couple inadvertently sensed this and exchanged cheerful smiles.
Exchanging glances, they decided to discuss their eldest daughter’s friend situation later; right now, it was time to eat!
“Sister.”
A soft, sweet, and somewhat helpless “Sister” rang from the side of the table.
The couple and Little Light turned to see Moon sitting there, fork in one hand and kn*fe in the other, looking utterly pitiful, staring at Noia, “Sister, I can’t cut the steak! Can you help me?”
Little Light stared blankly at the scene, blinking her pretty pink eyes, internally scoffing:
“Second sister, you could break steel with your hands a year ago. Now you can’t cut a steak?”
Have you grown softer with age?
Noia was also a little surprised; she remembered Moon had long been able to cut her own steak at the table without needing help.
Why was she suddenly asking for help now?
But Noia didn’t dwell on it; since it was Moon’s request, she would do her best to fulfill it.
Noia leaned closer, holding Moon’s little hand, and slowly helped her cut the steak.
“Thank you, sister! You’re the best~ muuuua~”
Taking advantage of Noia leaning in, Moon planted a kiss on her sister’s cheek.
Noia’s face flushed red.
Eek~~~
What’s up with this little one today?
Haven’t had a kiss on the cheek in ages, and now my sister is making me blush!
They say a kiss between middle-aged couples can bring several nights of sweet dreams;
So a kiss between these sisters… wouldn’t it lead to nightmares too?
Noia pinched Moon’s little nose, “Eat your food well.”
Moon sweetly replied, “Got it, sister~”
Little Light was beside herself, listening and getting goosebumps.
In her short life of just over a year, she’d always seen her second sister as innocent, adorable, and undoubtedly the Silver Dragon Temple’s number one mascot.
But what was this character doing now?
Struggling with a steak is one thing, but that overly dramatic tone? Even Little Light ditched that ages ago; why has Moon resurrected it?
No matter who you are, get off my second sister right now!
“You two sisters get along so well!”
“Oh, Moon has always—”
“Of course! I have an awesome relationship with my sister!”
The girls’ voices interrupted Little Light’s train of thought.
She raised an eyebrow, looking at the eldest sister’s classmate.
After mulling it over, Little Light turned back to her second sister, who was enjoying Noia’s attentive care.
Oh~~
The little pink-haired one understood.
So it turns out Moon hasn’t regressed or been possessed.
She’s simply showing off!
Now, let us introduce the Silver Dragon Race’s third princess and goddess of fun, Aurora K. Melkway, as she performs the inner monologue of a sister complex:
“Sister, you feed me? Helena won’t get jealous, will she, sister?”
“But the food sister feeds me is so delicious~”
“My sister loves me the most~ Helena, you’re just a friend to my sister~”
“You two can only hug, but I can kiss my sister~”
“My sister’s little face is so fragrant, smooth, and tender; I just can’t get enough of kissing it~”
“I, above all, love—”
“What are you giggling about alone?”
Leon’s hand gently patted Little Light’s head.
Little Light glanced up at her dad’s big hand, “Nothing, Dad. The food made by you and Mom is just too good; I couldn’t help but laugh.”
“Food can make you laugh?”
“Yes, Dad,” Little Light said seriously.
Leon chuckled and ruffled her hair, “Come on, eat up.”
“Okay~”
See, this weekend’s going to be a blast!
Little Light was already looking forward to what her second sister would pull off that was even crazier and more fun!
