43 I’ll Treat Dragon Strength Like Rice From Now On!
Roswiser didn’t tease Leon too much. After all, the main priority at the moment was to improve their compatibility levels.
Of course, not the kind that happens in bed; Saint His Academy doesn’t test for that!
“The assessment about family is quite simple,” Roswiser began to explain the evaluation method to Leon.
“The academy will prepare two sets of answer sheets with questions related to each other’s living habits, personalities, experiences, and so on. One party will fill out their answers first, then the other will do the same. Finally, we’ll compare the scores—the higher the score, the better we know each other.”
Leon blinked and sprawled on the sofa, flipping through the various test questions he had.
“Sounds like a boring couple compatibility game.”
“I think it’s boring too, mainly because I have zero interest in your life story or personal quirks.”
“Thanks, same here.”
Roswiser tossed a pen at Leon. “But the compatibility among family members is a crucial part of the assessment, and the academy uses this to judge whether a family is harmonious. To ensure Noia can successfully enroll, we need to deepen our understanding of each other in the coming days.”
Leon chewed on the pen tip. “Judging family harmony by compatibility… isn’t that a bit… hasty?”
Roswiser shrugged. “The academy’s test questions aren’t as simple as a usual couple’s quiz. There’s a lot of psychology involved, and these questions can accurately dissect your potential personality defects. The academy believes that only families who know each other’s flaws but still choose to live together are truly harmonious.”
Leon glanced at the test questions in his hands and asked, “Is ‘What’s your partner’s favorite color?’ included in the psychology questions?”
“Why can’t your brain twist a little? Basic compatibility questions are a must!” Roswiser facepalmed in silence.
Leon nodded, paused for a moment, and then asked, “So what’s your favorite color?”
“Black.”
Roswiser blurted it out and then quickly shot a question back at him, “How about you?”
“Silver.”
As soon as he said it, both felt something was off.
They looked at each other—at their hair.
Black hair.
Silver hair.
Next moment, in unison: “Coincidence.”
A second later, simultaneously: “d*mn.”
The clueless couple both turned their heads away, conveniently skipping that topic.
Leon flipped through more of the test questions and found indeed some were related to psychology and character traits.
Psychology? Not Leon’s forte.
Dragon psychology? Forget about it!
He only knew a bit about what dragons feel when they’re about to kick the bucket—he was pretty good at slaying dragons, after all.
After some time of pondering, Roswiser began writing something on a blank answer sheet.
Moments later, she handed it to Leon. “Alright, let’s see how many questions you can get right about me.”
Leon took the sheet and started answering.
“First question: What’s a phrase your partner often says?”
Leon wrote immediately, “No need to think, it’s definitely ‘You idiot!’”
Roswiser silently facepalmed. “No need to say that, you idiot!”
“Second question: Has your partner ever been particularly disappointed in you?”
Leon furrowed his brow, murmuring as he wrote, “Yes…”
“Not at all,” Roswiser suddenly interjected.
Leon froze and looked at her.
Roswiser lowered her gaze, fiddling with the tip of her tail.
She knew Leon was looking at her, but she still didn’t lift her head, just quietly repeated, “I… have never been disappointed in you, Leon.”
“Is it because… I’m just not worth being disappointed in?”
Roswiser paused in her tail-fiddling before shaking her head, not answering directly. “That’s not relevant to this question. Just continue answering.”
Leon felt a shift in mood but didn’t press further.
For the next several questions, he stopped muttering the answers aloud; he just quietly jotted down his responses.
After finishing, he handed the answer sheet back to Roswiser.
She compared it with her own answers.
“How many points?” Leon asked.
“45.”
Roswiser’s expression was serious. “Not passing.”
Leon looked down, fingers rubbing the pencil thoughtfully. After a moment of silence, he muttered, “Sorry.”
“No need to apologize; who knows? My score might be lower if I take the quiz.”
Saying that, she pushed another answer sheet and a blank paper to Leon. “Try it out and write your answers on the blank paper.”
Leon nodded, picked up the paper, and began writing.
While he wrote down his answers, Roswiser took a closer look at his previous sheet.
She noticed that all of the questions he got right were related to her daily habits—like catchphrases, which hand she uses, or how to position her tail for maximum comfort.
His wrong answers were mostly about things like “Have you ever been disappointed?”
Those were questions that only Roswiser could clarify for him.
Without that, considering the ups and downs of their relationship and how they interacted, it was nearly impossible for him to get them right.
Roswiser was not someone who liked to bare her soul.
She was used to bottling everything up and slowly processing it.
If she really couldn’t take it anymore, she’d probably just write a letter to her sister Isar and chat a bit.
Roswiser let out a long sigh, shook her head, and pulled her thoughts back.
Just as Leon pushed his blank answer sheet back to her.
She nodded, took it, and started answering.
After finishing, she handed it back to Leon for comparison.
“How many points?”
“58.”
Roswiser shrugged with a small smile. “Still need more practice.”
Leon stared at the mountain of test sheets on the coffee table, pondered for a moment, and said, “We haven’t spent enough time together, and our interaction mode is also quite abnormal, so getting a high score in a short time is almost impossible.”
“But it’s not like there’s any other way. For Noia, let’s both put in some effort.”
Whenever it came to their daughter, Roswiser always turned into this gentle and reasonable person, completely different from her usual proud and cold demeanor as the Silver Dragon Queen.
Leon knew very well that she loved her daughters just as much.
That much was undeniable.
Before starting the next round of tests, Leon couldn’t help but ask,
“Roswiser.”
“Hmm?”
“About that question on disappointment… is that your true answer?”
Roswiser turned to look at Leon, meeting his gaze with strong conviction. “Yes.”
“But—”
“There’s no ‘buts,’ Leon. I have no need to lie to you. Our conflicts don’t involve disappointment.”
Roswiser paused, suddenly realizing that Leon was a stubborn sort who only believed in his own notions, so no matter how much she explained, he probably wouldn’t believe her anyway.
With that thought, Roswiser didn’t delve into any more philosophical explanations and instead joked, “If we really had to mention something I was disappointed about… it’s that—”
“That’s what?”
She looked at Leon, a smile creeping onto her lips. “Dragon Strength is practiced way too little. Why is it that you’ve only practiced once?”
“… I’m going to treat Dragon Strength like rice from now on. Don’t regret it!”
