51 Mom, I Just Win the Key Matches
A few days later, in the evening, Leon, Roswiser, and Moon stood in front of the Holy Temple, looking up at the sky at a 45-degree angle, just like the other day when they were with Noia, as if they were waiting for something.
“Does the Academy really send you back home?” Leon asked gazing at the sky.
“Really, their service is always superb,” Roswiser assured him.
“So how will they bring Noia back? Magic teleportation or…?”
Roswiser raised her hand to shield her forehead, squinting at a small black dot in the distance. “No, it’s not that high-tech. They’ll bring the kids back just like we sent them. Look, it’s almost here.”
Leon followed Roswiser’s finger to look in that direction.
Sure enough, a small black dot was getting closer on the horizon.
But a few minutes later, Leon’s eyes widened in shock.
What do you mean, a small black dot?
Up close, it turned out to be a dragon that was ridiculously huge!
Leon did a rough estimate: this dragon was at least five times the size of Roswiser.
In his past slaying-dragon career, he had never seen a dragon of such exaggerated proportions.
“The Leviathan, the largest class among the Dragon Race. But even though it’s massive, its combat power is pretty low—it’s basically the transport manager of the dragons, great stamina, and totally zen about it,” Roswiser explained.
“Eh? Why add ‘emotionally stable’ to the description?” Leon asked.
“Just imagine, if you had a hundred and eighty lively young dragons chattering away on your back, making a ruckus, wouldn’t you snap?”
Leon swallowed. “I would…”
“Exactly! But the Leviathan won’t. They manage their emotions quite well. It’s said that a Leviathan may go thousands of years without ever losing its temper.”
Leon couldn’t help but applaud.
Who would’ve thought there could be such a chill type in the combative Dragon Race?
It felt like a “If I d*e, I d*e; it’s all good” kind of vibe.
The Leviathan slowly approached, eventually hovering above the Silver Dragon Temple.
Due to its enormous size, it couldn’t land fully without causing a scene.
Suddenly, a magical beam of light started flickering on the Leviathan, connecting to the ground.
Moments later, Noia’s figure emerged from the light beam and gently floated down to the ground.
After confirming that Noia landed safely, the Leviathan retracted the magic beam and slowly ascended, finally flapping its dragon wings and drifting away from the Silver Dragon Temple.
The gust from its wings whipped up a storm, and once the winds died down, Moon dashed toward Noia.
“Big Sister!”
The little dragon girl opened her arms and leaped into her sister’s embrace, immediately starting to rub her face against Noia’s cheek.
Noia playfully squeezed Moon’s hair and smiled, “Did you miss me?”
“I missed you so much! Did you miss me too?~”
“Of course!”
“Yay!”
The two little dragon girls linked arms and tails, making their way toward Leon and Roswiser.
Noia first gave a slight nod to Roswiser, “I’m back, Mom.”
“Welcome home, Noia.”
Then she turned to Leon, “I’m back—”
Noia’s mouth was already forming the “B” sound.
But she hesitated over that term.
Seeing this, Leon quickly stepped in to save the day, stopping his eldest daughter from feeling awkward, “It’s great that you’re back! Let’s go eat. Your mom and I prepared a lot of your favorite dishes.”
“Okay!”
The family of four went inside, sitting down at the table to enjoy a meal they hadn’t shared in a while.
Noia, as usual, began cutting steak and serving vegetables to Moon.
But Moon grabbed her wrist.
Before Noia could react, she found Moon clumsily, yet earnestly, trying to cut her own steak.
All the delicious meat on the table was being pushed towards Noia.
“Quick, eat! Mom and Dad said you worked hard at school, so you need to eat more!” Moon insisted.
“Okay, thanks!”
A bit of independence certainly speeds up personal growth.
Well, even if Moon’s growth might only be temporary, it’s still a step in the right direction!
The family enjoyed their meal, chatting and laughing, and somehow, it felt like no one cared whether this warmth was genuine or just pretending.
But no matter what, at this moment, they were just a happy, joyful family.
As dinner was wrapping up, Noia pulled several report cards from her bag and laid them out on the table one by one.
“Basic Alchemical Mechanics, First Place.”
“Introduction to Magic, Young Dragon Edition, First Place.”
“Dragon Race History, Young Dragon Volume 1, First Place.”
“Comprehensive Physical Fitness Test, Third Place.”
Noia pushed the last report card to the center of the table, her little face stern as she seriously said,
“Sorry, Mom, I only got third place in the last subject.”
Roswiser didn’t even glance at the report card; she turned directly to Noia, “No need to apologize, Noia. Third place is already impressive!”
“Yeah, Sister, Mom’s right! In Moon’s eyes, you’re the best!”
However, despite her mom and sister’s comforting words, Noia seemed unfazed.
Leon looked at his eldest daughter, then at Roswiser and Moon.
One had trouble expressing emotions, and the other was a bit too extra with them.
What Noia really needed wasn’t this.
Sigh.
It’s time for the old dad to step up.
Leon picked up the report card, glanced hastily at it, and said,
“Ah, it’s all just physical training—running, bench pressing, pull-ups…”
Noia pouted slightly, murmuring, “Mm.”
“You started school too early, Noia. The kids in your class are at least four or five years older than you, towering over you.”
Leon earnestly analyzed with Noia, “And look at this; you scored quite high on practical training, right? Out of ten opponents, you won nine matches, the highest win rate in the class. What does that show? It shows my eldest daughter may not have the strength of those little punks, but her strategy and fighting skills are just leagues ahead.”
Leon set the report card down. “So don’t get too hung up on that third place; you’ve been hitting the peak of your abilities. That’s more than enough. A lot of adults can’t push themselves as hard as you do.”
After Leon’s analysis, Noia’s expression finally softened a bit.
Fidgeting, she said, “But… but I heard Mom say that you were first in every subject when you were in school.”
Leon, hearing that, couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow in pride.
Sounds like Noia sees him as a role model!
The old dad was ecstatic!
But now wasn’t the time for gloating.
“Well, I didn’t actually get first in every subject right when I started school; it took effort to climb up bit by bit. So, Noia, being behind isn’t permanent. Don’t let trivial defeats crush your spirit, okay?”
“Okay, I got it,” Noia replied seriously.
Leon believed Noia actually took in his words; her personality was too lazy to lie.
If she said she understood, then she understood.
Seeing her mood brighten, Moon hurriedly grabbed her sister’s wrist and curiously asked, “Sister, what’s practical training?”
“It’s one-on-one battles where two people spar until one gives up or falls out of the ring.”
“Oh, so Sister really is amazing for winning against nine people!”
Moon’s starry eyes quickly darted to Leon, “Wasn’t Dad also great in school?”
With Moon’s endorsement, Leon naturally had to go along with it.
He puffed his chest proudly, rubbed his nose, and said smugly, “Of course! Your old man’s practical training back in the day was legendary!”
“Hand-to-hand combat? No sweat;”
“Close-quarters sparring? Piece of cake;”
“Magic duels? Victories all around.”
“I won so many trophies, my hands hurt!”
Moon was left awestruck, her eyes full of admiration. “Wow~ Dad’s amazing! What about Mom?”
Roswiser shot a look at Leon and coolly said, “Mom’s honors aren’t as many as Dad’s, but I only win key matches. Back then, it was because Dad never could beat me that he insisted on marrying me~”
Slap—
Leon smacked the table. “How can you say that in front of the kids? Clearly, it was you who never defeated me, which is why we have our two lovely daughters, Moon and Noia!”
Roswiser narrowed her eyes, “What, Leon? Two years in marriage, and you still want to compare?”
“Been wanting to for ages.”
The two were at each other’s throats as their eyes locked, sparks flying.
Moon: Are they about to fight? YAY, FIGHT FIGHT! (☆▽☆)
