Chapter 70: I Have “Jade Syndrome”
A sonic boom exploded through the clouds as the Silver Dragon zipped across the skies.
Leon sat cross-legged on Roswiser’s back, cradling Moon who was catching up on sleep after waking up too early.
“What’s your sister like?”
“Enthusiastic, lively, talkative, cheerful.”
Leon pondered for a moment, “So, basically the complete opposite of you?”
Roswiser wanted to argue back but realized she did leave an impression that was entirely different from her sister Isar.
After thinking for a bit, Roswiser added, “But she’s more scheming than I am.”
Leon gasped, “There’s a mother dragon out there more scheming than you?”
“I spent fifty years with my sister after I was born; I know her best.”
Roswiser continued, “So, be on high alert around her. She’ll use all sorts of unexpected methods… to mess with you.”
Leon snorted dismissively, “Aside from you, I don’t want to deal with any adult mother dragons.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Roswiser’s dragon wings shuddered slightly, causing a little bump in the flight.
Then, Leon sighed, “This lifetime is enough.”
Roswiser wasn’t sure if he did that on purpose, but she decided to stand firm, “Don’t talk nonsense.”
Leon (innocently): “But I’m speaking from the heart.”
What a pesky mother dragon—now not even letting him speak his mind!
Leon turned to his eldest daughter, “Noia, have you met Aunt Isar before?”
Noia shook her head, “I’ve only seen Aunt in the photos in Mom’s room; I was still training when she last visited.”
“Seems like you’re the only one in the family who hasn’t met your sister?”
“That’s right. So, my sister is really looking forward to this meeting.”
Roswiser said, “Alright, hang on tight; we’re about to speed up.”
With another explosive sonic boom, the silver figure vanished into the distance.
About three hours later, Leon’s family arrived in the territory of the Red Dragon Clan.
From a high vantage point, the Red Dragon Holy Temple and the scale of the clan were about the same as the Silver Dragon Clan, with very similar architectural styles.
However, many of the silver decorations representing the Silver Dragon Clan had changed to red here.
With the similar design style adding a touch of clan uniqueness, it was quite interesting.
Roswiser gradually descended into the courtyard of the Red Dragon Holy Temple.
Sister Isar and a few dragon maids had been waiting for quite some time.
Once they landed, Leon held Moon as he slid down from Roswiser’s dragon wing, followed closely by Noia.
Before they could turn around, they heard Isar’s voice.
“Little Luo! Your dragon form is just as majestic~”
Turning back, they saw the once elegant and dignified Red Dragon Queen now smothering Roswiser’s dragon head in affectionate nuzzles.
Roswiser drooped her wings, her tail hanging low in resignation, “Sis… let me revert back first.”
“Oh, okay, go ahead, transform!”
Roswiser folded her wings, a flash of light flickered, and she returned to her human form.
“Little Luo!”
Even after transforming, she couldn’t escape Isar’s exuberant embrace.
From Roswiser’s reaction and expression, it was clear she had grown accustomed to her sister’s way of greeting.
However, Leon was slightly surprised that Roswiser, already quite tall at about 1.7 meters, could reach around 1.75 meters in heels. But in Isar’s embrace, she still felt a smidge shorter.
Leon glanced down at Moon, who was about knee-height to him, and thought, I hope you inherit those tall genes from the Melkway family perfectly, dear.
“Sis, let me introduce you to my husband and daughter; you haven’t met them officially yet.”
“Sure, sure!”
Isar straightened her hair and then walked over to Leon and the two girls.
“My husband, Leon Casmod.”
Leon, out of politeness, was about to say hi first, but Isar grabbed his hand instead.
“Hello, brother-in-law! Finally meeting you while you’re awake!”
Isar eyed him up and down, “Indeed, seeing you like this, you match Little Luo better.”
Leon awkwardly chuckled and shook her hand, “Ahaha, Auntie, you’re quite humorous.”
“Call me Auntie? That sounds so distant! Just call me sis like Little Luo does.”
“Alright, Auntie.”
“Is your husband still not awake, Little Luo?”
Roswiser lightly elbowed Leon’s arm.
Leon quickly corrected, “I’m just joking with you, sis.”
“Interesting! Little Luo, I quite admire your husband’s character; he’s as unhinged as I am.”
Roswiser silently facepalmed, “You know you’re unhinged, sis?”
After that, Roswiser introduced the two little dragon daughters.
“This is our daughter, Noia and Moon. Sister is—”
“Wait! Let me guess!”
Isar interrupted Roswiser’s introduction, excitedly jumping into the guessing game.
Her gaze flitted between the two little ones before pointing at Moon, “This one with the cute hair-fluff is the elder sister!”
“I’m the younger sister, Auntie.” Moon shook her head, fluff flopping around.
“Oh no, wrong guess! Come here, little Moon, let Auntie hug you~”
Moon was a natural social phobic, letting go of Leon’s hand and dashing into her aunt’s soft embrace.
“How did Auntie know my name?” Moon asked.
“I visited you when you were little; your mom told me you’re Moon and your sister is Noia.”
Saying that, Isar turned to Noia.
Compared to her sister, Noia was the very definition of “socially awkward.”
Nervously clutching Roswiser’s skirt, she timidly stepped back.
Roswiser didn’t force Noia to greet her sister. She fully respected Noia’s wishes.
After a moment of hesitation, Noia finally tried to step out from behind Roswiser, moving forward, “Hello, Auntie, I’m Noia.”
“Oh, little Noia, do you want Auntie to hug you too?”
Roswiser had mentioned in her letter that Noia was not very chatty and didn’t like physical contact with others.
So, Isar didn’t scoop her up right away but asked for her opinion.
Noia nodded, “Yes.”
“Alrighty~”
Isar cradled Moon with both hands and used her agile tail to gently wrap around Noia’s waist, pulling her into her embrace.
Leon couldn’t help but comment inwardly: Well, that’s convenient!
With the two little dragon daughters side by side, Isar was overwhelmed as she hugged them both, almost dizzy with happiness.
“Ahhh, this is bliss! Little Luo, do you get to hug such adorable little dragon daughters every day?”
“Ah, I’m pretty busy usually; it’s mostly Leon taking care of them.”
“Oh, well, thank you, brother-in-law!”
“It’s no trouble; I love being with the kids.”
Thinking for a moment, Leon took this opportunity to add a little jab, “They’re definitely closer to me.”
Roswiser raised an eyebrow at him, “Shouldn’t they be closer to me?”
“Honey, you sure know how to joke.”
“Does it look like I’m joking?”
“Alright, alright, closer to you, I’ll give in.”
“Do I even need you to give in?”
Isar chimed in, “Wow, you two have such a good relationship!”
At Isar’s unlikely praise, the couple immediately stopped, responding in unison, “It’s just okay.”
Isar was unfazed, laughing silently.
“Alright, alright, after such a long journey, you must be tired. Let’s go in and rest; dinner will be ready soon.”
Isar hugged the two little girls and led Leon and Roswiser into the Holy Temple.
The family made their way to the reception room of the temple.
Leon and Roswiser sat side by side.
Moon and Noia were still being cuddled by Aunt Isar and were likely to be held until dinner.
“What does Moon usually like to eat?” Isar asked.
“Fried steak! Moon loves fried steak!”
“Great! There’s fried steak for dinner. And what about you, little Noia?”
“I’m fine with anything, Auntie.”
“Noia is such a good girl. By the way, Auntie heard you started at Saint His Academy a couple of weeks ago?”
Noia nodded.
“Wow, that’s impressive! Isn’t it just over a year since you started school? How are your grades?”
Noia modestly replied, “Grades are alright—”
Moon interrupted, “Sister has the highest scores in many subjects!”
Isar’s eyes lit up, “That’s fantastic, my little Noia, just like your mom when she was young.”
Cue the key phrase, “Your mom when she was young.”
As everyone knows, mentioning anyone’s childhood triggers a black-history release.
Even normally aloof Noia perked up, straining not to miss a single word from her aunt.
The pressing question now was: who would continue the topic of “your mom when she was young”?
Both little ones instinctively looked to their dad.
Leon raised an eyebrow.
Alright, alright.
What can a dad do? He’ll spoil you; it’s not like he’s dying to know or anything.
Digging into this mother dragon’s black history is a call of duty!
“So, sister, how good was it?” Leon asked.
“How good? Little Luo took first place so many times that she could play catch with first prizes! I remember when she transitioned to the adult division; she even gave a speech as the outstanding student representative. Oh! I have pictures from back then; let me grab them for you.”
“Eh, sis, don’t—”
Roswiser tried to stop her, but Isar had already set the girls down and dashed away from the reception room.
Suddenly, Roswiser felt a bad premonition.
“Wow, sis is pretty enthusiastic.” Leon said, grinning.
Roswiser shot him a sideways glance, “Don’t be too pleased; once she’s done with me, you’ll be next.”
Leon shrugged, “I’m not worried; I don’t have any black history for her to unearth.”
“Don’t underestimate yourself or overestimate my sister.”
While they bickered, Isar returned.
She came back with a thick photo album cradled in her arms, a smile plastered on her face.
Clearly not an impromptu idea; this was well-planned, dear sister!
Roswiser’s icy demeanor cracked just a bit, “Sis… didn’t you say you’d only bring the student representative photo? Why did you bring the whole album?”
Isar hurriedly sat back down, eager to flip through the photo album, “I thought grabbing one by one was too troublesome, so I just brought them all! Now… where’s that student speech photo of Little Luo… ah, here it is!”
Saying that, Isar handed the album to Leon.
Both little dragon daughters crept over to join the fun.
In the opened photo, a younger Roswiser was visibly present.
At that time, her face wasn’t as sour as before (of course, that’s Leon’s first impression).
To the two little ones, their now “icy Queen” mother looked stunning during her youthful years!
She wore the Saint His Academy uniform with her silver hair tied back neatly into a ponytail. She looked so bright and cheerful, it was hard to believe it was the same person.
“Honey, when you were in school… you were so full of energy!”
Roswiser turned her head away, not wanting to engage with this guy.
A dog’s mouth can’t spit out ivory!
But aside from her younger and fresher look, Leon noticed one amusing detail.
That was Roswiser’s dragon horn on the top of her ear.
She had mentioned before that she hadn’t seen her own parents, which proved she was a live-born dragon and that dragon horns only appear in maturity.
Roswiser’s little, cute horns made people want to reach out and touch them.
Leon swallowed hard, glancing towards his mother dragon, clearly fixating on her ears, his intentions a bit too obvious.
Roswiser shot him a look of disdain, “No weird requests, thanks.”
Leon let out a click of his tongue and averted his gaze.
But he didn’t continue flipping through the other photos.
That would be basic courtesy.
Without the album owner’s consent, he could only look at the one photo she presented!
Seeing the trio still wanting more, Isar added, “You can flip through more pages; Little Luo was super~~~ cute when she was little.”
Alright, with permission—time to dive in!
Nothing beats the thrill of viewing your rival’s childhood photos;
If there is, it’s simply not enough!
Excitedly, Leon and the two little ones flipped to the front of the album to commence their viewing, completely disregarding Roswiser’s plight.
Sure enough, the first page displayed a silver-haired little dragon showcasing a lollipop to the camera.
“Mommy was so tiny!” Moon squealed excitedly, “Just like me!”
To be fair, during her childhood, Roswiser did resemble a silver-haired version of Noia and Moon.
Though her face showed some cute baby fat, it did nothing to hide her delicate features.
Leon flipped to the next page.
In this one, Roswiser had matured a lot. At around ten years old, she was starting to look like a young lady.
The image captured her practicing Dragon Flame.
In another photo on that page, you could see her after a failed attempt at Dragon Flame, her hand burnt and Isar was there bandaging it.
“Wow, honey, you and your sister really have a great bond,” Leon praised on the surface, while secretly teasing.
Roswiser stealthily snuck her hand back and pinched Leon’s side.
Leon clapped her leg playfully, signaling her to calm down, “Come on, let’s keep looking.”
Continuing to flip through, they saw various snapshots of daily life as time went by.
There was the first attempt at flying, with her eyes tightly shut from fear of heights;
Another where she had just slain a dangerous species, proudly standing on its head with a big grin.
However, the next picture was one of the most embarrassing ever titled, “This mother dragon who defeated an S-class dangerous species was shocked by a spider and used high-level magic to obliterate it.”
There were tons of photos of Roswiser crying, and Leon couldn’t help but chuckle joyfully, totally unaware he was grinning ear to ear.
How strange!
He came in with the mindset of digging up this mother dragon’s black history.
Yet, the more he looked, the more he felt, “My wife is so cute!”
Ah, forget it; as long as it’s entertaining, who cares?
The final photo showed Roswiser on the day she inherited the title of “Silver Dragon Queen.”
On the throne, wearing a silver crown, the queen was accepting homage from her silver dragon subjects, looking gallant and dignified.
Leon closed the album, feeling just as unfulfilled as the two little ones.
But Roswiser on her end let out a long sigh of relief.
Finally, it’s over!
However, it was clear that after not seeing her sister for a long time, she had somewhat underestimated her sister’s schemes.
After all, how could she not express her love as a sister after finally reuniting with her sister’s family?
This was just the appetizer!
After the album conclude, Isar pulled out a crystal ball from behind the sofa.
“Auntie, what is this?” Moon asked excitedly.
Leon raised his hand: “I know! That’s called a Shadow Stone!”
Oh boy, he knew it all too well!
“That’s right! It’s called a Shadow Stone. It’s finally time for the family to watch together. Little Luo, you must be nostalgic, right?”
The three dragons and one person all eyed Roswiser eagerly.
Today was the most wanting day for the Silver Dragon Queen to find a hole to burrow into.
As her ice-cold demeanor and mindset finally buckled under pressure!
With a hint of pleading, Roswiser said, “Sis… please, in the name of our sisterly bond, don’t show what’s inside.”
“Sis, I also beg you, in the name of being your beloved brother-in-law, you must show us what’s inside!”
Leon was already bursting with curiosity about the footage in the Shadow Stone.
Isar reveled in watching her sister and brother-in-law’s reactions.
Satisfaction.
So much satisfaction.
“Well then, since it’s Leon’s first time at my place, let’s go with his choice this time, next time we’ll follow Little Luo’s thoughts.”
Roswiser internally screamed: Oh my, there’s definitely not going to be a next time!
With that, Isar activated the Shadow Stone, and a clear image appeared in the center of the reception room.
The few of them looked up to see the first scene: a silver-haired little dragon sitting on the ground, sobbing.
At that time, a now-grown Isar had squatted nearby, trying to comfort her as she softly mumbled, “Little Luo, don’t cry; it was just the lunch that the message dragon snatched away! Auntie will prepare another meal for you later, don’t cry, okay?”
“And this message dragon learned its lesson and didn’t steal her food again after Little Luo starved it for three days,” Isar explained on the side.
Leon leaned closer to Roswiser and whispered, “How come you seem perfectly fine with message dragons now?”
“Ugh, shut up.” Roswiser nudged his shoulder.
Leon chuckled, dodging away as he continued watching the footage.
The next scene was by the bathroom door, the camera jiggling with a very home video vibe.
In the next moment, Isar appeared on the screen, waving hello and motioning for silence, then she stuck the Shadow Stone onto the bathroom door.
Soon after, familiar sounds filled the air.
“I love bathing, it does wonders for my body~~ oh oh oh~~ scrub scrub the tail, blow some bubbles~~ oh oh oh~~”
Leon was practically grinning ear to ear, “Honey, your singing is as lovely as a lark!”
“Ah! Just let everything end!” Roswiser despaired, laying her head on the table, hands covering her ears.
Crack—
The sound of her heart’s defenses shattering was music to Leon’s ears!
“There’s one last segment, which I personally think is the most exciting one.”
Hearing this, Roswiser quickly lifted her head and grabbed Isar’s wrist, “Sis, this one really can’t be shown, absolutely not!”
Isar squinted with a smile, “Little Luo, you know me well, the more you don’t want me to show it, the more I want to.”
“Sis, you’re my sister, my only sister; I support you.”
Leon was completely in the mood for chaos.
Roswiser shot him a furious glare.
That glare clearly said, “You wait till we get home; I’ll deal with you then.”
But Leon hardly cared.
Live in the moment; a day of indulgence is better than one of reckoning!
Who knows how I’ll meet my end, but you’re definitely facing your demise!
Isar activated the Shadow Stone, playing the final segment, reminding, “Some things I fear you might forget if you don’t watch.”
The scene showed her and Roswiser sitting by the river, chatting for the first time about relationship matters.
“Little Luo, what are your standards for choosing a mate in the future?”
At that time, Roswiser, just around seventeen or eighteen, didn’t quite understand the concepts of relationships or love, yet had extremely clear standards.
Gazing at the river’s surface, she replied earnestly.
“Academically, they must be at least better than me, with a slew of first places or championships;”
“They must have a sense of responsibility and not dislike children;”
“Powerful yet humble, with their own principles unaffected by races or outside influences.”
Isar raised an eyebrow, “These three points are very difficult, especially the last one. Many lose themselves after gaining strength and authority.”
Young Roswiser looked up at the Milky Way in the night sky, her voice steady yet carrying hints of eager dreams.
“Who knows? When it comes to marrying, I’ll only marry someone like that. If I never meet someone like that in my life, then I’ll remain single forever.”
The Silver Dragon Queen, cautious yet selective.
The scene ended.
Leon and the two little dragon daughters were momentarily at a loss for words.
After a moment, Noia and Moon exchanged looks aimed at their dad.
Noia: “With many championships, not arrogant…”
Moon: “Likes kids…”
Leon: Uh oh!
