Gotta Do It This Way (Double Update)
Leon returned to the room, and it was silent as a tomb.
He tried calling out softly to Roswiser.
No response.
“Fast asleep already.”
Leon mumbled as he gently closed the door.
Slipping off his shoes at the entrance, he padded silently to the bedside and carefully climbed onto the waterbed.
But alas, the waterbed was too “lively.” The moment he pressed down, the whole bed tilted his way.
Roswiser’s foot, concealed under the blanket, inadvertently brushed against the back of his hand.
Leon panicked.
This Mother Dragon’s foot always brought back unwelcome memories.
He swallowed nervously, stealthily moved his hand away, and slowly crawled over to the inner side of the waterbed.
Once he lay down, he let out a sigh of relief.
He covered one corner of the blanket over his chest, still not daring to burrow fully under it.
If Dragon Strength were nearby, he’d be all over it by now.
Where would he still be acting all timid like this?
Leon turned to look at Roswiser.
The Mother Dragon was already sound asleep, her breathing steady, her sleeping face serene and beautiful.
Honestly, Leon quite liked watching Roswiser sleep.
She was gorgeous.
Even as rivals, he couldn’t deny it.
She was really beautiful, like a painting come to life.
Especially in this quiet night, with a faint fragrance filling the room, the waterbed closely hugging her delicate figure, and the moonlight streaming in, casting a glow on her silver hair.
The exquisite atmosphere paired with her stunning beauty left no flaws on her perfect face, even at such a close distance.
For a moment, Leon was captivated.
Then—
The blanket covering Roswiser’s chest flickered with a ghostly purple light.
Seeing this, Leon quickly averted his gaze, taking deep breaths to calm himself down.
“How did the Dragon-slaying Three Honors and Three Disgraces go again?”
“Uh…”
“Honoring betrayal—wait, no, honoring lust—ah, no, what the heck!”
He tightened the bedsheets, forcing himself not to think about those random thoughts.
But once the Dragon Pattern reacted, it was like a rolling stone from a mountain, starting and never stopping.
Leon felt himself heating up, and no matter how he lay, it was uncomfortable.
“Mm… Hmm~~”
Beside him, Roswiser let out a muffled m*an.
It must be linked to the Dragon Pattern’s reaction too.
Leon squeezed his eyes shut, pretending nothing was happening.
Rustle—
Skin brushing against the blanket sent tingles down Leon’s restless heart.
He couldn’t help but peek at Roswiser.
She was slowly stretching her arm out from under the blanket, her chest rising and falling.
And that ghostly purple light…
It turned out to be a purple ambient light the size of a finger.
Leon froze on the spot, completely dumbfounded.
Darn it, the sly Mother Dragon is playing tricks on me!
Roswiser slowly opened her eyes, smiling at Leon. “Hi.”
“…Hi my foot! Why the heck are you hiding a lightbulb in the blanket?!”
“Am I bothering you by hiding a light?”
Roswiser placed the little ambient light on the bedside table. “I found it in a toy on the rack earlier and thought it was funny, so I brought it to entertain you. What’s with that reaction? You didn’t really…”
She lowered her eyes, glancing down, then looked back into Leon’s eyes. “Are you feeling some kind of way about me?”
Leon averted his gaze, turning away from Roswiser. “No. I’m going to sleep now, don’t talk to me.”
“Hmph.”
Roswiser pouted, not continuing to tease him.
After that little joke, the couple felt less tense and more relaxed.
She also turned her back to him.
But she didn’t pull the blanket too much, leaving some to cover him, in case he caught a cold while sleeping.
What if he caught a cold and passed it to their daughter?
With that thought, Roswiser slowly closed her eyes.
Sleepiness quickly swept over them.
Just as Roswiser was about to fall asleep, she suddenly felt something on her shoulder.
Groggy, she swatted at it. “What is it… if you need something, just say it, don’t touch me.”
A faint voice came from behind her. “I didn’t touch you.”
“Then who just tapped my shoulder?”
Roswiser turned her head to look.
The next second—
A shriek escaped her lips as the waterbed rocked violently.
Before Leon could react, something warm and soft pressed into his arms.
When he came to his senses, Roswiser had completely curled up in his embrace, her arms clinging tightly to his shoulders, and even her tail was scared stiff, wrapping around his arm.
The soft softness of her chest fit snugly against Leon’s waist, her long legs curled up, trembling in his arms.
The fragrance of her body mixed with a hint of gentle shower gel filled Leon’s nostrils, making him dizzy.
Her heart raced, and her temperature spiked—she must have been scared by something.
Roswiser held on tightly; her flimsy lingerie did little to hide her curves against him, and Leon couldn’t help but notice his heartbeat speeding up.
But seeing Roswiser so panicked, he didn’t have time to enjoy or tease; he hurriedly asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you so scared?”
“There’s a… spider…”
“A spider?”
Leon followed her gaze.
Sure enough, a black, fuzzy spider was perched on the pillow.
He recalled seeing a photo earlier of Young Roswiser crying over a spider.
Could that psychological trauma still be haunting her…?
“Don’t worry, I’ll get rid of it—hey, hey, hey, calm down!”
The moment he leaned down, he saw Roswiser’s hand gathering blazing Dragon Flame—
The purity of her magic seemed even stronger than when they practiced together.
“I’m going to k*ll it,” Roswiser said as if faced with a formidable enemy.
“Don’t, oh my ancestor! This is a waterbed! If you unleash Dragon Flame here, this place will turn into a sauna!”
Leon quickly grasped her wrist.
After a moment of hesitation, he tentatively hugged her shoulder, gently patting her back.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, I’ll get rid of it right now; just take a breath, okay?”
Carefully, Leon released Roswiser and crawled over to grab the spider, then opened the window and tossed it out.
However, when he touched the spider, Leon felt something strange.
It didn’t feel like fuzzy fur…
More like… rubber?
Wait, could this be part of the sister’s prank too?
Chilling thoughts ran through his mind.
Not thinking too much, Leon quickly closed the window.
“Alright, alright, there are no more spiders now.”
Roswiser bit her lip, still looking a bit shaken.
After a moment’s hesitation, she murmured, “I sleep on the inside; you sleep on the outside.”
“Sure thing, you can sleep anywhere you want.”
“Mm…”
Roswiser tucked her tail away and lay back under the covers.
But she still seemed a bit rattled.
Leon also lay back down.
This time, he burrowed completely under the blanket.
He figured… Roswiser might need someone closer to her now.
After lying there for a while, Leon stole a glance at Roswiser.
She was staring wide-eyed at the ceiling.
She couldn’t understand why there was a spider here?!
Since childhood, Roswiser had been afraid of these little things, thinking they were all hairy, with legs and eyes all over, and even just describing them in words scared her.
This psychological shadow was unchangeable; no matter how long a Dragon’s life, time wouldn’t wipe it away.
Whenever spiders scared her in the past, Roswiser would go find Isar for comfort.
But Isar wasn’t here now—
“If you’re still scared, you can… hold my hand.”
The man beside her spoke in a low voice.
Roswiser paused for a moment, then closed her eyes, inhaling deeply, and slowly exhaled.
“Bring it here.”
Leon blinked. “What?”
“My hand.”
“Oh, okay.”
A rustle came from under the covers as Leon extended his hand.
Roswiser also brought hers over.
But something felt… off?
Leon lifted the blanket, raising his hand and complained, “How’s holding just a pinky supposed to bring comfort?”
Roswiser’s cheeks flushed. “How should I hold it then—”
“Dummy, like this.”
With that, Leon intertwined his five fingers with Roswiser’s.
Their fingers locked, and instantly, Leon felt a surge of comfort.
