77 A Little Motivation
(3K Double Update)
When Noia returned from her vacation, she brought some news.
“Family Sports Day?”
After dinner, the four of them sat at the dining table discussing the topic.
Noia nodded, “Yeah, the Academy is organizing a Family Sports Day. It’s said to be a new attempt.”
“Wow, our family really is lucky! When they added that new interview section for admissions, they said it was a new attempt, and now they come up with a Family Sports Day.” Leon complained from the side.
Leon remembered a few kindergartens in the Empire.
They often dragged parents into helping kids complete certain tasks.
Cute little term, “homework,” but in reality, it was just teachers being lazy and shifting all responsibility onto parents.
If you protested, you weren’t cooperating with the child’s learning;
If you complied, you were doing the teacher’s work.
So, Master never let Leon go to kindergarten back in the day.
His excuse was that Leon was too old for kindergarten and “the family is too poor, better prepare to head straight to Dragon Slayer Academy.”
But later, Leon realized it was just Master being lazy and not wanting to help the kindergarten teachers with kids, so he didn’t send Leon.
“Sports Day, huh? I participated in one back when I was at Saint His Academy.”
Roswiser reminisced about her days, “But back then it didn’t involve families; it was just students competing solo.”
“So, how did Mom rank back then?” Moon asked with sparkling eyes.
Roswiser rested her chin on one hand, squinting with a smile, raised one finger.
“First, of course~ Mom was so awesome!”
Next, Moon looked at Leon, “What about Dad?”
“Me? I didn’t place.”
Moon tilted her head, “Why didn’t you place?”
“Right? Didn’t you dare participate?” Roswiser chimed in, trying to poke at him.
But Leon just snorted, slowly saying,
“Because my final score was so far ahead of the second place that the Academy suspected I cheated during the race and temporarily withheld my score. It wasn’t counted in the public rankings.”
“Did Dad cheat then? Oh—”
Leon lightly flicked Moon’s forehead, “Of course not. Later, the Academy secretly gave me a trophy; I melted it down and made Grandma a gold bracelet.”
Roswiser raised an eyebrow, “Aren’t you usually very proud of your honors and championships? You just melted it down?”
Leon shrugged, “What’s the point of keeping an dishonorable trophy? Better to toss it.”
Roswiser chuckled, “Your stubbornness is as bad as a mule’s.”
Then she turned to Noia, “So you’re planning to sign up, huh?”
“Yeah… even though this Family Sports Day is more about fun and doesn’t count toward normal grades, but…”
Noia hesitated, thinking about how to phrase it.
“But they will still have rankings, right? First and second places, and all that?” Roswiser read Noia’s mind.
“Exactly, Mom. I also want… to take first.”
Noia’s obsession with being “top-tier” was much stronger than the average young dragon.
It wasn’t just a simple genetic trait from Leon or Roswiser—
It was a combination of their competitive natures inherited down from the annoying couple!
(Or maybe she even snatched Moon’s share?)
Doesn’t matter.
Anyway, Noia’s strong desire to win isn’t a bad thing.
Leon and Roswiser exchanged knowing glances and both nodded in agreement.
They were fully supportive of joining the Family Sports Day, and their desire to win was not weaker than Noia’s.
“When does it start?” Leon asked.
“Next Saturday; the Academy gave us a week to prepare.”
After saying that, Noia looked at Leon, “Are you… feeling okay?”
She remembered Moon’s words on the first day of school, “If Dad is weak, Mom is strong; if Mom is weak, Dad is strong.”
Noia was a little worried about Leon’s health during the sports day.
If that really happened, she would care more about his health than about the results.
Results were important to her.
But… his health was more crucial.
Leon, hearing this, immediately patted his chest, guaranteeing, “Don’t worry, sweet daughter. Dad is perfectly fine!”
Noia questioned suspiciously, “Really?”
“Really, if you don’t believe me, ask your mom.”
To ensure Leon’s strength stayed in a controllable range, Roswiser regularly conducted a “test” on him.
After each test, Leon would spend the next few days trying to recover, only to have Roswiser absorb all his energy.
She had been diligently following this pattern recently.
Let’s just say, it was quite effective.
And counting it out, Leon hadn’t been “handled” for three days now, and his body was just at a good recovery level.
Roswiser smiled meaningfully, “Yeah, your dad should be in great shape right now.”
“Oh, really? So you guys can participate with me, right?”
“Of course.”
“Hmm…”
“Can Moon join?” Moon leaned toward her sister, shaking her little hand.
“Max three people.” Noia pinched her little cheek.
“Oh… all right then…”
Seeing the little girl’s drooping hairpin, Leon’s mind moved, and he patted her head, “But Moon can be a cheerleader!”
Moon’s eyes lit up as she looked at Dad, “Yay! Moon will be a cheerleader!”
But just as the cheer ended, confusion arose in her big eyes, “What’s a cheerleader?”
Even if she didn’t know what it was, whatever Dad said must be great, so let’s pop the champagne first!

That’s how little dragon girls think.
Leon patiently explained, “A cheerleader is someone who cheers and encourages. With Moon’s support, Mom, Dad, and your sister will surely get good results.”
“Ew~~ That’s awesome! Moon will cheer hard for Dad, Mom, and sister!”
“Yeah, our family will work together and crush the Family Sports Day, no problem.”
“But the Academy hasn’t told us the specific events yet.” Noia said, “Mom, do you know?”
Roswiser nodded, “When I participated back then, it was the Dragon Race endurance triathlon—running, high jumping, long jumping, and stuff. But this time, since they specifically added ‘family’ in front, I bet the events will change too?”
“Sounds reasonable.” Noia pondered.
Roswiser thought for a moment, continuing, “Since the Academy gave us a week to prepare, let’s not only practice some basic events but also focus on building our teamwork, do you guys think that’s a good idea?”
Teamwork training.
That reminded Leon of the late-night couple quizzes he and Roswiser did for Noia’s entrance test.
Logically speaking, despite being a dragon and human couple constantly buzzing each other, they miraculously had high compatibility in this regard.
Even that unprepared interview was passed with the highest score, proving their synergy!
So for this Family Sports Day, Leon and Roswiser were quite confident.
“I think it’s a good idea.” said Leon.
“I’m fine with that too, Mom.”
“Great, we’ll start tomorrow. Let’s all rest well tonight.”
“Okay~”
Noia and Moon jumped down from their chairs, hand in hand, and left the dining room.
Roswiser stretched, resting her chin on her hand, gazing at Leon playfully,
“Counting the days, you should really come to my room tonight, right?”
Leon rolled his eyes at her, “Other than plotting revenge on me, can’t you think of anything else? You said we’re training tomorrow; do I not deserve to rest and take care of my body?”
“Humph, nice excuse. You finally caught a chance to rest.”
Leon threw up his hands, “Mother Dragon, you wouldn’t want our daughter to earn a low score at the Sports Day, right?”
Roswiser scoffed, “Don’t start with the clever words. Since you won’t be visiting my room these days, you better keep yourself in shape, got it?”
“You won’t have to tell me; I will do it anyway.”
“Don’t let your guard down; our dragon tribe’s sports events are no walk in the park.” Roswiser reminded.
Leon smiled confidently, “We Dragon Slayers are no piece of cake either.”
“Okay, see you tomorrow.”
“Bye!”
The couple bid farewell and returned to their respective rooms.
The next morning, before the children even got up, Leon and Roswiser were already on the practice field, warming up.
Roswiser was still in her sleek, simple sports gear, her long legs showcased beautifully.
She had the typical model-like figure, looking good in anything.
“The kids aren’t awake yet; shall we run a few laps to warm up?” Roswiser suggested.
“Sure, sounds good.”
The couple got right to it, jogging back and forth on the track.
At first, Leon kept up with Roswiser’s pace, but as the laps piled on, his stamina started to lag behind.
Although his body had returned to a relatively healthy level, he was still panting heavily after just a few laps.
He leaned on his knee, gasping for air.
Eventually, he just lay back on the grass.
Leon closed his eyes as sunlight illuminated his face, allowing him to faintly see the bl**d vessels beneath his eyelids.
But the next moment, someone stood beside him, blocking the sunlight.
Leon opened his eyes to see a head of dazzling silver hair gently swaying in front of him.
“What’s wrong? Can’t take it anymore?” Roswiser teased, “I didn’t have you up all night doing homework, you know.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, I’m just resting.”
“Pfft, what I see is you lack motivation.”
Roswiser squatted down, wrapping her arms around her knees, her chin resting on them, tail wrapped around her shoe tip, “How about I give you a little?”
“What do you mean? Motivation? No need, helping Noia get a good result is motivation enough.”
Roswiser squinted, smiling, “More the merrier, and I believe you won’t refuse my offer.”
Leon was tempted, “Go on, I’m listening.”
Roswiser beckoned him over with a finger.
Skeptical, Leon leaned in closer.
Roswiser cupped Leon’s ear and whispered, “If you get first place, I’ll give you a week off.”
Leon’s eyes lit up, “Really?”
Roswiser nodded, “Really.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Leon bounced off the ground like a fish out of water, shrugging off his jacket and resuming his slow jog.
With both his daughter and wife “stimulating” him, this guy’s desire for victory had never been stronger!
“The championship for the Sports Day is definitely ours!”
