Chapter 9: Impregnating a Dragon with a Mortal Body
Leon exited the room and strolled down the corridor towards the back yard of the Holy Temple.
Along the way, he encountered at least a dozen dragon guards.
Much stricter than when he sneaked out yesterday!
It was clear that his smooth escape from the Silver Dragon Temple was all thanks to Roswiser’s little scheme to bring him to the imperial gates. She wanted him to see his homeland, wallow in the despair of being unable to return, all while enduring her relentless humiliation.
No wonder Leon thought of Roswiser as a crazy mother dragon.
Beneath her elegant and serious facade lay a thirst for madness and dysfunction.
Leon couldn’t help but feel utterly unlucky.
Of all the people to fall into the hands of, why did it have to be Roswiser?
Stuck between a rock and a hard place, he couldn’t run away, nor could he d*e; he had become Roswiser’s emotional punching bag — on top of babysitting duties too!
But Leon didn’t completely feel like a defeated man.
If Roswiser wanted to gross him out, she had to put in some effort; but if Leon wanted to annoy Roswiser, all he had to do was show up in her line of sight.
After all, throughout the history of humans and dragons, Leon might just be the only human capable of making a dragon pregnant.
To humans, this was utterly ridiculous, but for Roswiser, it was downright revolting.
Yet, Leon’s desire to escape still lingered in his heart.
Just as he said last night, Roswiser could obliterate his dignity and pride, but she could never extinguish his belief as a Dragon Slayer.
Given the chance, Leon was definitely making a break for it.
As he plotted his escape plan, he turned a few corners.
Just as he neared the back door of the temple, he spotted a familiar small figure at the end of the corridor.
With thick black hair interspersed with glimmers of silver, a tiny tail dangling at her feet, and wearing a luxurious dress with delicate, flesh-toned stockings peeking out, it was Moon.
Leon raised his hand to wave at her, but then he noticed something was off.
Moon’s expression was completely blank, coldly staring at Leon.
It was as if she held a deep grudge against him.
Though his interactions with Moon had been brief, he distinctly remembered her warm, gentle eyes, which were nothing like the icy glare she was giving him now.
Leon bit his lip, thinking maybe he was just moving too slowly and Moon was getting impatient, hence the angry look?
Hesitantly, he waved his hand, “Moon, sorry to keep you waiting. Mom asked me to come play with you, we—”
Before Leon could finish, Moon dashed out the back door and into the courtyard.
Leon quickly chased after her.
But she was nowhere to be found.
He scratched his head and muttered, “Kids’ feelings are truly unpredictable. No wonder Roswiser handed the babysitting task to me while she lounged around.”
Despite his grumbling, Leon headed to the back garden, hoping to find Moon there.
Turning corners left and right, he finally arrived at the garden and saw Moon playing games with a few dragon maids.
However, the little dragon girl didn’t seem too thrilled.
“Your Highness, you have to keep your eyes covered, don’t take it off~”
“Your Highness, I’m over here, over here! Come catch me~”
“Watch out, Your Highness, don’t trip!”
The maids were playing a game of blindfolded hide and seek with her.
After a few misses, Moon ripped off her blindfold in frustration and stomped her tiny feet. “This is boring! I want Mom and Dad to play with me!”
An older-looking maid approached, squatted down, and patiently said, “Your Highness, the Queen is working tirelessly and personally handling matters within the clan; she can’t always be with you. You need to be a good, understanding daughter and not worry the Queen.”
“Ugh… I get it.”
The little dragon girl said, pouting, as she bent down to pick up the blindfold. “Anna, let’s continue!”
“Such a good girl, Your Highness.”
Head Maid Anna stood up and helped Moon put her blindfold back on.
The childish game of hide and seek continued.
Moon missed several more times, relying on the chaotic sounds to figure out their locations.
But at some point, the maids’ voices suddenly ceased.
Moon didn’t notice and thought it was part of the game, so she continued to feel around for people.
“Anna, Anna, where are you? Why is no one talking?”
“Your Highness—”
Before Anna could say anything, Moon grabbed someone.
She excitedly yanked off her blindfold, “I got you! You are—Dad?! Why are you here…”
Leon slowly squatted down, pinching Moon’s chubby cheeks. “Of course, I’m here to play games with you.”
Hearing this, Moon’s big eyes sparkled, “Really, Dad!”
Leon nodded with a smile, “Yes, really.”
“Hooray~ Dad’s going to play with me~”
The little dragon girl joyfully spun around Leon.
Her little tail danced in front of him, but Leon was lost in another thought.
The Moon in the corridor just now… why was she so different from the Moon before him?
In just a few short minutes, her mood had brightened so much?
“Moon, did you go back to the corridor earlier?” Leon asked.
Moon stopped spinning and answered seriously, “Nope, I’ve been playing in the garden the whole time.”
“Oh, is that so…”
“What’s wrong, Dad?”
“Nothing, nothing at all.”
Maybe it was just his eyes playing tricks on him, Leon thought.
After all, he had just recovered from being a vegetable, hadn’t properly rested, and was then dragged into a whirlwind of activity by Roswiser. Blurry vision was just a mild symptom.
Leon was lucky enough to be able to get out of bed.
“By the way, Moon, what do you want to play? Do you want to continue hide and seek?” Leon shifted the topic.
Moon pouted, thought for a moment, and then shook her head. “No, I don’t want to. I’m too silly, I can never catch anyone. How about we… play Dragon Knight instead~”
Leon blinked. “Dragon Knight… how does that work?”
One minute later.
Moon was perched on Leon’s shoulders, her tail gently draped over his back.
Leon lifted his hand slightly, holding her delicate ankle, so she wouldn’t fall off.
Moon was gently tugging at Leon’s hair with one hand, and wielding a stick with the other as if it were an enchanted holy sword.
“Oh~ Dad, charge ahead~”
“Okay, okay, charge, charge, charge!”
Leon finally understood.
The so-called Dragon Knight wasn’t a knight riding a dragon; it was a dragon riding a knight.
Well, why not? A little pampering never hurt, right?
Could he really expect that sour-face dragon, Roswiser, to join Moon in a family game?
Dream on.
“Dad, Dad, let’s go to Head Maid Anna! She’s the human guardian now! If we defeat her, we can reclaim our territory!”
Leon nearly sprained his back at this.
Wow, sweet daughter, you really know how to jab your papa right in the heart.
Do you even know who you’re riding on right now?
You’re riding the (former) strongest Dragon Slayer of the human race, you know?
Why did you have to pick a human for her to play when you could’ve chosen a beastman, elf, or werewolf instead?
Leon grumbled inside, blaming the horrible dragon education system, all Roswiser’s fault!
But since he promised Moon to play the game, he had to deliver.
He matched her enthusiasm and jogged towards the nearby maids.
The maids responded splendidly, their acting skills on point.
Every time Moon swung her stick, they would dramatically fall down.
Some even added their flair, such as:
“Ah~ What a powerful little dragon princess~ One move and I’m defeated~”
Or:
“Have I, a human, truly lost to the noble and mighty dragons? Not fair~ Not fair~”
Leon: Your unfairness is nothing compared to what I’m feeling! = =
Despite having a million gripes, Leon held his tongue.
Patience is a virtue; right now he just needed to keep the kid entertained, let Roswiser’s guard down, and then he’d find his chance to escape.
So, for an hour, they played Dragon Knight, but Leon soon started to feel overwhelmed.
No.
It was more than just feeling overwhelmed.
His recently awakened body hadn’t completely recovered, and even slight movement left him dizzy.
He half-squatted down, and Moon jumped off his shoulders, worryingly asking, “Dad, are you tired?”
“Yeah, a bit—”
“Dad is not tired.”
A voice called from the direction of the temple.
Leon and Moon looked up to see Roswiser standing on the balcony, leisurely watching them.
“Moon, Dad is not tired at all; he’s full of energy! You can continue playing any game with him,” Roswiser said, her tone dripped with honey.
“Really? That’s great~ I thought Dad was tired!”
Moon turned back to Leon. “Then, Dad, shall we keep playing~”
“……”
Leon stood up, gazing at Roswiser on the balcony.
For once, Roswiser wore a rare smile.
But that expression looked like a sly fox that had just pulled off a clever trick.
“Roswiser!” Leon shouted at her, ready for a showdown.
“What is it?”
“You truly…”
Leon gritted his teeth, running through every curse word he could think of in his head, but considering the little one by his side, he managed to spit out one final innocent word,
“Adorable.”
Adorable—a derogatory term in the dragon community—Silver Dragon Queen Roswiser.
