11~ Did that guy really find teammates?
“What? ……… You found teammates?!” Fland’s face showed surprise, but after a moment he regained his composure, wearing a mocking smile as he addressed Dillin.
“Oh, that certainly makes me curious, exactly which blind idiot…….no, no, I mean, which uniquely imaginative goddess would take a fancy to you, you useless, talentless blind godson?” Fland feigned a slip of the tongue, then warmly smiled as he corrected himself.
“Mr. Fland, you’re just a mentor at the Academy, not my mentor. Please don’t call yourself my teacher in front of me, nor inquire about my affairs. This is my private business, you have no right to know, do you?” Dillin bluntly rebutted.
“……… Hmph, truly lacking in manners, isn’t it? Isn’t it only natural for a mentor to worry about the progress of his students?”
“I, unfortunately, do not have the good fortune to accept your concern. Everything has been prepared. There’s no need for you, Mr. Fland, to concern yourself anymore.”
“Prepared? Are you sure?” Hmph, keep pretending, I’d like to see just how long you can keep this up.
With your capabilities, you can actually find teammates? Pfft, don’t you know your own limits?
Even after the duck is dead, its beak remains hard. Even if you lose inside, you must still keep up appearances. Alright then, let’s see how long you can keep up the act.
Fland was naturally skeptical that Dillin could find teammates. He’d bet his life that unless all the godsons at Coleman Academy were dead, no goddess would join this useless blind godson who couldn’t even use the Divine Analysis Technique.
Come on, how could those high-and-mighty, self-important goddesses possibly be interested in you? They wouldn’t even look at a common godson, let alone a cripple!! What a laughable joke that would be.
“Mr. Mentor, was there something important you wanted to discuss?”
“No, I was just musing that nothing extraordinary under the vast sky is impossible.” Fland smiled brightly, but his words were dripping with sarcasm.
“If Dillin can’t find teammates, just say so. After all, I know your situation. Straining to maintain appearances will only make you look ridiculous unintentionally to others.”
“If it makes you happy, I don’t mind.” Dillin showed no care for Fland’s sarcasm, smiling nonchalantly.
“I see that there’s nothing serious you want, Mr. Mentor, as they say, a dog’s mouth can’t produce an ivory tusks.”
“You……….” Seeing Dillin’s calm and composed demeanor, Fland felt like throwing a punch into cotton.
“Excuse me, I’m quite busy. I shall take my leave.” With that, not caring about Fland’s expression, Dillin turned and left.
This kid sure has a sharp tongue…
Fland was upset but also developed some doubts.
If he couldn’t find a single teammate, how could this kid appear so confident?
While it’s nearly impossible, could he really have convinced a few naive goddesses??
Impossible. Goddesses, who have been indulged all their lives, have high standards. Would they be swayed by mere sweet words and join his team?
But, what if he really did find someone? What then?……….
Deep down, Fland couldn’t let it go. Deciding to head to the archives of the Academy to inquire about it.
In a somewhat twisted sense, Fland was showing a lot of ‘love’ for Dillin, his concern reaching a point where he was utterly neglecting food and sleep.
“Excuse me, Miss Blyth, may I bother you? Is this a good time?” Upon reaching the counter of the archives, Fland exchanged his usual composed demeanor, donning a benevolent smile. It must be said, paired with his handsome Half-Elf appearance, that smile truly could charm many budding young girls, but the black-haired human lady behind the counter, Miss Blyth, was clearly impervious to it.
Having had her break interrupted, the lady in the white teacher’s robe could only reluctantly put down her lunch box, slowly standing up and looking at Fland with evident impatience. “Yes, you’ve indeed interrupted me, Mr. Fland. What do you want from the archives on a full noon break? Shouldn’t you be eating or napping?”
“Well, like this, Miss Blyth, I wish to inquire about the team members under a certain godson of our Academy.” Fland didn’t get upset by her tone and simply smiled.
“Oh, Mr. Fland, when did you become so concerned about students?” Blyth teased.
“Miss Blyth, joking aside, as a teacher, it’s only natural to be conscientious and genuinely care about our students, right?” Fland maintained his smile.
“Alright then, whose info do you want?” Blyth sat down, lazily propping her head on her hand. As this wasn’t classified Academy information and team details are publicly disclosed anyway, anyone could ask about them.
“The one named Dillin, he’s this year’s freshman.”
“Captain named Dillin? What would you like to know? It’s just a rookie team with no remarkable achievements or victories………”
“I just want to see the list of members in his team.”
“Member list? What’s so interesting about that? Including him, they’re only two people.” Miss Blyth replied without hesitation.
“Two???” Fland’s eyes widened dramatically.
“Yeah, I just handled the registration for his team a while ago, so it stuck in my head.”
“No, no……… Where did he get that second person from?………. Ah, I mean, didn’t all his members quit recently, leaving only him?”
“Yeah, so what does today’s new member have to do with that? Or does Mr. Fland not approve of fresh bl**d joining their team?”
“No, that’s not it…… Is the other member a goddess?”
“Yes, but she doesn’t seem to have fully transformed yet, what a pity. Still so young, yet she already has such a big scar on her face. I wonder what that child has gone through.”
“…………… What’s the name of this goddess?” The unexpected developments made Fland’s expression oscillate between light and dark.
“Name? I remember, her name is Tillysha.”
“Tillysha???” Fland furrowed his brows.
