32~Straight to the Point
“Could it be that Miss Aileen values the surname so much because, apart from the surname, you have nothing else to offer in life?”
“Well, then you might as well just call me Cardifon. After all, a given name is optional.” Tillysha smiled like a blooming flower, as if she had just uttered a very ordinary greeting. Yet, it made Aileen’s expression slowly freeze into stiffness.
The classmates around who had heard what Tillysha said were equally astonished, looking at Tillysha with incredulous expressions while she still wore a faint smile.
With one stunning retort in a situation of extreme embarrassment, Tillysha had swiftly delivered a counterattack. This time, it was Aileen who was publicly left speechless and without an exit.
The audience either marveled at Tillysha’s forthrightness or looked on with anticipation, ready to feast on the impending drama, or they were outright rejoicing mischievously.
People who knew Aileen even slightly were aware that, based on the second daughter of the Cardifon family’s character and pride, she wouldn’t overlook the provocation from a Wild Female.
“The morning classes have ended. Allow me to take my leave first.” Tillysha gathered her notebook, preparing to depart.
For people who deliberately stir up trouble, Tillysha would maintain basic politeness but wouldn’t be overly courteous either.
Truth be told, Aileen’s words were indeed quite aggressive, but they were also particularly directed towards the Female of the divine sort.
These pampered young ladies had never cursed or even heard foul language from birth, and in Tillysha’s eyes, their vocabulary was too limited, their aggressiveness needed improvement.
Ha, in her previous life, she was an honorary member of SunBa and a top-level member of ResistanceBa. These roundabout, veiled attacks were nothing but a joke to her—barely enough to scratch the surface.
If it weren’t for the body she inhabited now being unable to utter foul language, she would’ve had the entire eighteen generations of Aileen’s ancestors dragged out for a severe grilling.
Moreover, she wasn’t inherently a Wild Female. The so-called dignity of the divine Female was nothing more than a dispensable burden to her, and she cared not for it. Naturally, she also didn’t care about surnames at all.
As for what the classmate thought of her, it mattered even less to her. One’s worldview determined their social group, and she simply wasn’t in the same world as them. When words don’t align, even a half sentence is too much. Besides, the class hadn’t been mixed yet, and it hadn’t formally divided either. In the future, they might not even meet.
“Stop right there.”
Just as Tillysha was about to step out of the classroom, a female voice from behind called out to her.
Tillysha paused, not because she wanted to continue arguing, but out of pure politeness, refusing to simply ignore the caller.
“Is there anything else, Miss Aileen?”
“Miss Tillysha, do you think you can cover up your own origins by throwing baseless attacks at me?” After regaining her composure, Aileen no longer showed any hints of a smile. Her cold gaze was like a sharp sword, piercing straight into Tillysha’s back.
“Not surprising from a Wild Female, so impolite.”
“Typical. Raised without parents, without proper upbringing, naturally without proper guidance. Tsk, tsk, have the times changed so much that bastards can also be called ‘Females’?”
The Females standing beside Aileen, from her clique, sneered at Tillysha.
“Without a surname and with an ugly scar on her face, what a freak.”
“Hey, do you think that scar on her face came from stealing bread from a bakery and getting chased by the Boss?” Their mocking voices.
These taunting and contemptuous voices didn’t phase Tillysha. They only reminded her of something she disliked deeply.
Arrogance, the same old arrogance.
Apparently, arrogance wasn’t exclusive to those pointy-eared beings. Humans were no exception, though Elves were worse. This sense of superiority, standing lofty while passing judgments on others, was truly detestable.
“What gives you the right to talk like that? So what if you didn’t receive formal Female education, recognized by no Female family. It’s not that big of a deal, is it?” It was at this moment that Aileen ‘generously’ stepped forward, saying a few words that seemed to speak for Tillysha but were in fact filled with sarcasm, prompting more jeers from the classmates.
An outsider would always face ridicule no matter where they went.
This was something Tillysha deeply understood after coming to this world.
Just like how Elves looked down on Half-Elves, refusing to acknowledge them as their ‘Same Kin’, Females also despised Wild Females, denying they were part of the Female circle.
This was a sense of superiority based on birth and legitimacy. The young and arrogant among them would recklessly impose this unfounded superiority onto outsiders to bolster their position among their peers.
“Wild Females naturally don’t know manners.”
“I believe that interrupting conversations without reading the room and acting overly familiar is even ruder.”
“Rather than filling up one’s vanity and sense of superiority, it’s far more essential to fill one’s mind and intelligence first, isn’t it?” Without looking back, Tillysha left after delivering these words.
“……” Watching Tillysha walk away, a flash of malevolence crossed Aileen’s eyes.
“Miss Aileen, are you alright?” The people beside her looked at Aileen with concern.
“I’m fine,” Aileen replied with a radiant smile. “I’m not about to get upset over a homeless Wild Female.”
“True, getting worked up over an ill-mannered wild one isn’t worth it.”
Aileen said nothing, only smiled, scoffing silently in her heart:
This ugly duckling…… Isn’t she just a love child shunned by her own family, someone without official recognition, someone not to be seen in daylight?
Initially, she merely found Tillysha unpleasant and intended to give her a little lesson. A single act of servility from her would have settled it.
Hmph, we’ll see how long your prideful attitude lasts.
The young lady thought to herself: we still have a long way to go in this class. Let’s see how long you can keep up this haughty attitude.
