013. Where Did This Vixen Come From?!
The class meeting lasted about half an hour, but the cafeteria was still packed with new students dressed in military training uniforms.
Ning Chu was fuming, her s*xual orientation distorted by some rumors, and now she was trailing behind Wen Yang, her face as cold as ice, not uttering a single word.
“Tomorrow we have to wear those quick-dry outfits. Apparently, we’re doing physical training,” Wen Yang said.
“Okay.”
“Do you have any sunscreen? I got a whole shade darker these past couple of days.”
“No.”
Wen Yang sat down after getting his food and noticed Ning Chu’s frosty demeanor. He sighed, “I was just joking.”
“My bad, I messed up.” He plopped a piece of sweet and sour pork onto Ning Chu’s plate, saying, “Here’s a piece of meat to make amends. I won’t mention it again.”
With the temptation of a single piece of meat, Ning Chu’s icy exterior thawed just a bit. The tension she’d been holding dissolved, and she let out a resigned sigh.
Her sensitivity to Wang Shao Qing and her s*xual orientation were her biggest vulnerabilities right now.
“When Shao Qing talks about you, you don’t react this strongly…”
“That’s because I had no expectations of him!”
Ning Chu shot Wen Yang a glare, agitated.
That guy in the novel was a total villain, responsible for ruining countless girls’ lives. All she hoped was that Zhang Shao Qing could just act like a decent human being—she couldn’t ask for more than that.
Wen Yang was different; although he was a scumbag in the harem genre, the girls he interacted with did so willingly, often taking the initiative.
Ning Chu’s hopes for the male protagonist were significantly higher than for the villain.
It was better if he remained a virgin forever! If the Little Emperor Wen was a virgin, then even if heaven itself intervened, the main plot couldn’t progress!
“Wen Yang!”
Lost in her thoughts, Ning Chu suddenly heard an enthusiastic call and looked up, confused, to see a classmate girl gleefully approaching with a tray, plopping herself right next to Wen Yang.
What’s this?
“Yuan Yuan, is there something up?” Wen Yang glanced over but continued to eat.
“Are you going to the bar tonight?”
“I’m broke.”
Yuan Yuan cozied up to Wen Yang, batting her eyelashes, “I’ll treat you~”
Ning Chu frowned deeply. Who was this vixen trying to flirt with the male lead right in front of the author?
d*mn it, how enviable!
So what if he’s good-looking? He has the protagonist’s halo!
Wen Yang hesitated and looked up. He had never been to a bar before and wasn’t sure—part of him was curious, and part of him was scared, caught in a struggle between wanting to go or not.
“Oh, by the way, my twin in the dorm is going, too~”
“Twin?”
Ning Chu jolted. Upon hearing “twin,” her memories kicked in.
The plot of Little Emperor Wen was straightforward: the twin sisters and a slightly tipsy Wen Yang ended up in a booth at the bar, played a couple of rounds, and Wen Yang carried the whole game. It was so intense it filled three chapters with six thousand words.
Yuan Yuan wasn’t even mentioned in the book, so she must have been passed out by that time.
“Are you going? If so, we’ll leave now!”
Seeing Wen Yang’s indecisive look, practically hypnotized by the twin temptation, Ning Chu quickly intervened, “No, we agreed to duo queue tonight.”
“?”
Wen Yang looked at her like she had grown a second head. “You said that last time too.”
After being stuck in jail during a duo queue once, Wen Yang had given up hope of gaming with Ning Chu.
Ning Chu thought hard for an excuse, “Didn’t the instructor ask you to fill out forms for us?”
“It doesn’t seem right to make the two vice-class leaders work on their first day. What if they say something in front of the instructor…”
With a face full of sincere concern, he earnestly advised, “Let’s just postpone it; military training is tiring lately.”
Yuan Yuan turned to Ning Chu, giving him a strange look, sizing him up as if she didn’t quite understand.
What’s it to you if we go to the bar?
“That does make sense,” Wen Yang conceded, then turned sheepishly to Yuan Yuan, “Tonight just seems a bit hectic; next time?”
“Exactly, it’s not like we’re in a hurry,” Ning Chu chimed in.
Yuan Yuan’s face darkened, and she huffed lightly, glaring at Ning Chu before reluctantly nodding, “Fine…”
Thank goodness Wen Yang, despite being a bit awkward, wasn’t the type to think with his lower half.
Most men, after all, are just a bit clueless about such matters.
But Ning Chu worried. What if one day he slipped and Wen Yang ended up finding some woman?
Watching the girl leave, Ning Chu felt relieved and rubbed his temples in frustration.
Now he had to keep an eye on Zhang Shao Qing, preventing that guy from suffering emotional injuries, getting hurt, and darkening his soul, while also playing the role of a vigilant bouncer for Wen Yang, making sure he wouldn’t be devoured by overly eager girls.
It was so tough.
“Women are just a hassle. If they don’t want to go, then tough luck,” Wen Yang muttered, diving back into his food.
Ning Chu nodded in firm agreement, “Exactly! Those kinds of girls aren’t worth it; they’ll drive you crazy.”
But then Wen Yang suddenly looked up, his gaze strange and pointed, making Ning Chu shut his mouth instantly.
Don’t tell me he caught on to something?
“Are you jealous of my romantic luck? Keeping me from going twice already,” Wen Yang teased with a grin, “Should I introduce you to a few?”
“Is that even an option?!” Ning Chu’s eyes lit up, but then he quickly deflated, “Forget it.”
Though tempted by Wen Yang’s offer, he really wanted to find a good girl, one who didn’t crave excitement, in this Little Emperor Wen world… but clearly, that was a tall order.
“I’ll get more rice.”
Wen Yang was large, with an equally large appetite, and on a typical day couldn’t afford much food, so he had to compensate by eating heaps of rice.
The school didn’t subsidize the cafeteria either. Prices were just like that awful school back in his past life! Vegetarian dishes cost two bucks; meat dishes with a sprinkle of pork were four bucks, and the meaty ones started at seven!
Ning Chu thought he hadn’t set any prices in the novel at all.
Wen Yang returned with his plate; all that remained was some soup, looking pitiful as he slopped up a bit of broth over his rice.
“Ugh.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I can’t eat anymore.” Ning Chu nudged his plate forward and propped his chin up with one hand, scrolling through his phone. “Just take some of my veggies; I can’t let them go to waste.”
Wen Yang blinked as he surveyed Ning Chu’s hardly touched food. “Are you going to be full like that?”
“Sure.”
“You need to eat more if you want to grow.”
Ning Chu let out a half-hearted burp. “I know… I’m full.”
His appetite wasn’t that great; he often couldn’t finish the rice provided in a standard meal, whether he ordered takeout or came to the cafeteria—there were always leftovers.
“Well, okay.”
While Wen Yang gorged, his attention remained fixed on Ning Chu.
No wonder people say brothers are like arms and legs; having a good friend really is comforting.
It’s just that this brother looked a bit too youthful and feminine, and he was a touch too nosy at times.
Another potential date had gone down the drain.
Wen Yang sighed deeply inside, but he couldn’t hold any resentment toward Ning Chu.
Ah, the twin sisters…
