254. Black Bean’s Departure

Early in the morning, Wen Yang arrived at the school gate.
He looked down to check his appearance, using the front camera of his mobile phone to inspect his hairstyle, afraid something might go wrong.
A car was approaching from the far end of the road.
He caught a glimpse of the license plate and immediately stood up straight, showcasing his most spirited self.
The little car stopped in front of Wen Yang, and Ning Chu got out from the passenger seat, stretching lazily: “Mom~ I’m off to class now?”
“After finally making a trip here, you couldn’t at least show me around your school?”
“Take Black Bean with you? I’ve got classes!”
She was still dressed in boy’s clothing, which displeased her mother greatly: “Can’t you wear something prettier? You’re a proper young lady, why do you have to dress like a boy?”
“Aren’t I trying to avoid being talked about by classmates…” She quickly waved her hands to dodge her mother’s nagging, “I’m leaving now!”
Ning Chu jogged up to Wen Yang and stood next to him on the curb.
“I’ll bring Black Bean back too.”
Her mother turned to look at the back seat, where Black Bean had her nose pressed against the car window, clinging to the glass, looking adorably sad as she watched Ning Chu and Wen Yang outside.
“Black Bean, say goodbye to your sister.”
“Eh…”
“It’s okay, in two months, you’ll see your sister again.”
Black Bean looked utterly dejected, unable to muster any energy: “Goodbye, sister~”
“Bye! Remember to listen to mom when you get back!”
As soon as she finished speaking, Ning Chu suddenly changed her expression and hurried forward: “Mom! Wait! I need to tell you something!”
“What’s up?”
She came to the car and glanced at Black Bean in the back seat, then quietly said to her mother: “Black Bean is six months old now.”
“Uh-huh?”
“She’s already entering her… expressional phase…”
Ning Chu blushed, reminding: “She’s still young; don’t let her get seduced by anyone.”
“Like you did?”
“Why are you bringing me up?!” She pouted, using a bit of a playful tone with her mom, “You’re keeping an eye on her anyway! If she doesn’t turn into a catgirl, I was planning on getting her spayed!”
“Got it, I will keep that in mind.”
Ning Chu rolled her eyes at her mom and looked at Black Bean: “Be good~ Don’t make mom angry.”
“Mom~”
“Call her sister… okay, be good~”
“Oh~”
As the little car started up, Black Bean kept her eyes glued on Ning Chu until she completely disappeared from sight.
Pouting and head drooped, her ears that were once perked up drooped too, and her tail stopped wagging.
“You should take a nap; there will be steak when we get home.”
“Steak!”
Black Bean perked up immediately.
“All you think about is food.” Her mother shook her head with a smile, “I wonder which little brat will take you away in the future~”
“I’ll just stay home; I’m not going anywhere!”

Watching her mother drive away, Ning Chu finally sighed in relief.
Finally, she had sent her mother off, and Black Bean didn’t need her care anymore.
She straightened up with satisfaction and pulled out a sachet from her pocket, handing it to Wen Yang: “Look, I secretly gathered a lot of tail fur yesterday and stuffed it in here.”
“Remember to keep it with you; otherwise, that female ghost will bother you again.”
Wen Yang nodded but then asked with a worried face: “Your mom still doesn’t really like me, huh?”
“Yeah~” Ning Chu hooked her arm around Wen Yang’s, teasing, “But she doesn’t oppose me!”
“That’s good…”
“Anyway, we still have time~”
Even if they graduated and got married, it wouldn’t be for over three years.
By then, who knew what would happen?
Ning Chu thought of her mother’s words from yesterday, her expression slightly dimmed: “Wen Yang…”
“What is it?”
“If… one day you don’t like me anymore, be a man and just tell me directly.”
“???”
“Don’t be like my dad… who just took off one day… My mom waited for him for over a decade and he never came back.”
Wen Yang froze, gently wrapping his arm around her shoulders: “That won’t happen, don’t overthink it.”

Ning Chu jumped in surprise and quickly pulled away from Wen Yang’s embrace. Turning around, she noticed a car had parked behind them, and Zhang Shaoqing was leaning out of the window with a cheeky grin, teasing: “Oh, don’t you worry about being seen by other classmates?”
Her face flushed red as she raised her foot to kick the car door: “Are you insane or what?!”
Not wanting to kick too hard (who knows if it would cause damage), she just rubbed her shoe against the white car, leaving a little dust.
Zhang Shaoqing immediately exploded: “What the heck! Why are you kicking me?!
He hurriedly got out of the car and grabbed a soft cloth to carefully wipe the door. After checking there were no marks left, he finally relaxed.
“You’re such a weirdo!”
“You’re the weirdo!”
Wen Yang rubbed his nose, giving a headache. The two were always either arguing or throwing sarcastic comments at each other, like sworn enemies.
“Alright, alright, Shaoqing, why didn’t you come back last night?”
“Were you too beaten up by your mom to get out of bed?”
Zhang Shaoqing scoffed: “I’m an adult now; my mom can’t beat me up!”
“I was chased for two blocks! She couldn’t catch me!”
Ning Chu shot him a look; seeing that he still had no signs of getting ‘dark’, she felt relieved.
Looks like only relationship problems could turn Zhang Shaoqing into a brooder.
Zhang Shaoqing got back in the car and waved the two in: “Get in, I’ll drive you both to class.”
“You guys don’t know, I went on several blind dates with girls these past few days.”
“Not a single catgirl! Dammit!”
Ning Chu initially wanted to make Black Bean turn into a catgirl and hand her over to Zhang Shaoqing, but this guy couldn’t wait a day longer and totally missed the opportunity.
With Black Bean looking about ten years old… that pervert could definitely go for it!
It’s not like this guy has standards; at least from what I’ve read.
“Hey, by the way, did you finish your group project last night?”
The school parking lot wasn’t far from the classroom, and Zhang Shaoqing was driving slowly, asking: “As we agreed, I’m only responsible for the presentation; you guys need to give me a speech script, or I won’t even understand it.”
“Can’t you learn something?”
“I’m just coasting through life.”
While there were many strict students in college, suffering more than during the college entrance exams, there were also plenty like Zhang Shaoqing who were laying low.
Ning Chu was one of them.
She sighed: “Fine, I’ll get you the script in a couple of days; you just read from it.”
“By the way, do you know about Wang Jie?”
Ning Chu suddenly mentioned Wang Jie, catching Zhang Shaoqing off guard: “What about him?”
“He got drained by his girlfriend~ He was limping yesterday after running the 1,000-meter test—it was like he was about to d*e.”
Zhang Shaoqing just parked the car and turned around to look at the back seat: “Wen Yang, why aren’t you limping yet?”
Wen Yang smiled shyly: “Working on it.”

Ning Chu secretly poked Wen Yang in the side and scolded Zhang Shaoqing: “Mind your own business!”
