261. Hypnosis Spray
As Nana stepped into the cramped stairway of the self-built apartment, the narrow steps and hall made her nerves twitch.
Ning Chu glanced back at Nana, whose adorable face radiated timidness and fragility, instantly igniting a strong protective instinct within her. But she held back her urge to scare Nana for fun; after all, they had just met, and she didn’t want to ruin Nana’s first impression of her.
“We’re here.”
At the end of the corridor was a window, which Ning Chu casually opened to let in some air. She fumbled with her keys to unlock the door and rubbed her heels together as she kicked off her shoes.
“Leave your shoes on the rack by the door.”
She pushed the door open and dashed straight to the bathroom. “You sit down first, I’ll be right back!”
“Wait…!” Nana stared as Ning Chu bolted into the bathroom, hesitantly stepping into the rental apartment.
With the door ajar, she slipped on a pair of slippers and nervously surveyed the furnishings around her.
A few rather shabby dolls were neatly arranged on the TV stand and table, looking not cute at all. The quilt on the bed appeared somewhat disheveled, and although a cat litter box was present, there was no sign of a cat.
Nana felt as if she’d wandered into the lair of a tiger.
Then, a faint whiff of bl**d wafted from the bathroom, and she froze. Her earlier worry about Ning Chu being a crossdresser melted away; this unmistakable Aunt Flo scent was far too familiar.
The flow seemed pretty heavy…
Nana felt relieved and awkwardly settled on the sofa, placing her hands on her thighs with an innocent expression.
But that hypnosis spray? It sounded suspiciously like something out of a certain… ahem “adult” anime.
“I’m back~ Why didn’t you close the door properly?”
Ning Chu emerged from the bathroom in her slippers and went straight to shut the door.
She caught a glimpse of Nana’s wary look softening. It was likely that the smell from the bathroom had given her away when she swapped out her sanitary products.
A blush crept onto Ning Chu’s face. Even though she knew that this was a normal physiological phenomenon that didn’t warrant shame, she had only been a woman for a short time.
Sauntering over to the bedside, Ning Chu retrieved the hypnosis spray she had snatched from Zhang Shaoqing.
She kept it under her pillow in case one night while roughhousing with Wen Yang, he got too carried away; at least she wanted a fighting chance and not be pinned down by that towering 1.9-meter tall guy.
But if things got steamy for her too…
Not taking the initiative to devour Wen Yang was already her maintaining a shred of sanity.
Ning Chu plopped down on the edge of the bed, showcasing the little spray bottle to Nana. “Its effects are pretty much what you think.”
“!!”
Nana’s face immediately tensed up, her little features tightening in anxiety.
“But I only use it for self-defense! Doing stuff like that is illegal, okay!” Ning Chu sighs dramatically. “When you’re hypnotized, it might feel a bit weird. Don’t panic too much. We’re both girls, what can I do to you?”
“What’s it gonna feel like…?”
Ning Chu recalled her own experience of being sneak attacked by Zhang Shaoqing while hypnotized, and her expression soured.
“Your body won’t be under your control, but your mind will be wide awake… It’ll make you feel uncomfortable.”
She bit her lip as she explained, “It’s like being a piece of meat on a chopping board, just waiting to be sliced…”
The mere thought of sleep paralysis, where one can’t control their body, can send shivers down a room full of people, and here they were, talking about hypnosis where you not only lose control but have to watch your body do things against your will.
Nana listened to her description and shrank even further into herself.
“But don’t worry, it lasts about five to ten minutes, which isn’t too long.”
Ning Chu picked up the spray. “Wanna give it a try?”
“I…”
She added, “I don’t even know if it’ll work, but it should at least hypnotize your subconscious so you aren’t afraid of men anymore.”
Nana looked down anxiously, her fingers twisting together in silence.
It was their first meeting; even though Ning Chu left a good impression, she wasn’t brave enough to trust her with hypnosis.
“Um… maybe let’s skip it?” Nana murmured uneasily.
“Seriously? You don’t want to?” Ning Chu casually set down the spray, “Then don’t be a bother to Wen Yang!”
This little bottle wasn’t going to waste on Nana! If it weren’t for Nana trying to woo Wen Yang in hopes of curing her fear of men, she wouldn’t even bother.
“So he really is your boyfriend?”
Ning Chu nodded firmly without hesitation. “Yep!”
“I’m not trying to cling to him…”
She rubbed her empty stomach; it had been hours since her last meal, and she felt faint.
Wen Yang promised to bring her breakfast when he got back from the hospital, but here he was, running off because of the girl in front of him with no food for her.
“Think it over. I’m starving.”
Ning Chu understood Nana’s hesitance. If it were her, she wouldn’t want to be hypnotized either… well, aside from that one time. That might’ve even been exciting.
“Want to eat? How about some Xiaocai?”
“Sure.”
Ordering from the local Xiaocai downstairs, she leaned against the wall, bent one leg up, and turned to Nana. “Haven’t you ever seen a psychiatrist?”
“My parents say I’m not sick… just being dramatic.”
“Oh~”
What year is it? And people still have such stubborn parents?
Ning Chu suddenly felt grateful her mother was open-minded, even if a little too much sometimes.
“If you’re just afraid of men, it doesn’t seem to impact your life too much, right? Why rush to fix it?”
With nothing to do while waiting for the takeout, she randomly asked questions to satisfy her curiosity and k*ll time.
Nana hesitated, still focused on her nails. “I want to be independent, earn some money.”
“Hmm?”
“My mom’s afraid to divorce. Besides me, I think it’s mostly because she lacks financial independence. She’s always been a homemaker.”
Ning Chu frowned and suddenly didn’t want to continue this topic, nodding absentmindedly in response.
Nana acted like a tube of toothpaste, not a single word escaping her lips without any pressure, just sitting on the sofa fiddling with her nails.
The takeout arrived in just twenty minutes, delivered personally by the boss.
As Ning Chu opened the containers to dig in, she suddenly heard Nana’s voice.
“Hypnotize me.”
“You sure? Not scared of what I might do to you?”
“Not scared anymore.”
“Alright then.”
She pulled the spray from her pocket, directing it towards Nana’s face. It was her first time using this on a girl, and she felt a bit nervous. “You ready?”
“Mm.”
With a gentle press on the small spray bottle, the mist enveloped Nana’s face, and her expression began to drift into a daze.
Hypnosis was a success.
At this point, whatever she commanded Nana to do, this girl would follow without question.
Strip down, bark like a dog, or even make her feel tingly…
Ning Chu was not a pure-hearted person; after all, the hypnosis scenarios were her own creation. But any fleeting thoughts that crossed her mind were quickly tossed aside.
Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself that theoretically, the hypnosis spray could solve Nana’s troubles.
“Nana, from now on, you won’t be afraid of men anymore.”
“You will be confident, no longer timid, and you’ll do what you want to do.”
“That should work, right… you should stay in this state for about five more minutes, I’m gonna eat now.”
Ning Chu mumbled, grabbing a few bites of her fried noodles before her gaze grew slack, her body turning immobile.
Oh no! The hypnosis spray fell into her food!
Thank goodness Wen Yang wasn’t here!
