83. New Friends
16/20
“Ning Chu~”
The next morning, as soon as Ning Chu stepped out the door, she spotted Nana waving at her from a short distance away.
This vampire lived in the same village as her, and if the timing was right, she usually waited for Ning Chu to go to school together.
Their relationship was decent, but it hadn’t quite reached best friends status.
“Good morning.”
Ning Chu walked as normally as she could, but when the fabric of her pants rubbed against her thighs, she couldn’t help but show a bit of discomfort.
Nana keenly picked up on her odd behavior and glanced curiously at Wen Yang, who was walking beside Ning Chu.
She probably had an inkling about what was going on.
Seeing the realization flicker in Nana’s eyes, Ning Chu knew that this girl’s mind had probably wandered to the wrong place.
“Let’s go.”
Without offering an explanation, Ning Chu acted oblivious and joined Nana as the three of them headed toward the bus stop outside the village.
Oddly, Nana didn’t tease her but kept glancing at the couple beside her.
Dealing with a vampire was manageable since their relationship was still in the friend zone and their conversations rarely ventured into scandalous territory.
But wolf girls and succubi? That was a different story!
Ning Chu could already picture her two friends teasing and poking fun at her.
Once they got on the bus, she shot Wen Yang a disgruntled look.
“She can see it…”
Leaning in, she whispered to him, “My mom is definitely going to notice when she comes over at noon!”
“Can’t you wait a couple more days to try out new moves?!”
Wen Yang looked innocent, “I didn’t know it would hurt after a while; we were clearly well-lubricated…”
The little succubus was made of water, and Ning Chu was surprisingly dewy herself.
Hearing this, Ning Chu fumed, “It took too long!”
Wen Yang hurriedly reassured her, “It’s fine, you’re a succubus.”
“……”
Ning Chu kicked Wen Yang’s shin in frustration.
Though succubi traditionally flirt with men at light speed, if you told someone an adult succubus was still a virgin, they’d probably think something was wrong with her.
Her perspective might be slowly tilting toward femininity, but it wasn’t leaning toward succubus at all!
However, recently, hanging out with Wen Yang had been going a bit overboard, and that slightly pleasurable sensation from last night almost had her dizzy…
Fortunately, turning around revealed that scary weapon of his, snapping her back to reality.
She felt like she would eventually become a full-blown succubus at this rate.
“I’ll go to the Medical Room and get you some medicine to put on it, okay?”
“Fine, I guess.”
Ning Chu could only hope her thigh wouldn’t hurt by noon so she could walk normally.
From a distance, Nana couldn’t quite catch what they were whispering about. Seeing Ning Chu straighten up, she finally asked, “Ning Chu, did you eat breakfast?”
“Not yet.”
“I’ve got some~”
Nana pulled out a carefully wrapped sushi roll from her bag: “I made sushi this morning, along with some milk~”
At the mention of milk, Ning Chu’s expression soured a bit.
Once upon a time, she mocked the little catgirl in the plot for loving milk, and now here she was, casually drinking it every few days…
They had agreed it would only be that one time.
Thoughts whirled through her mind as she forced a smile, saying, “Thanks~”
“I made a bit too much; if you don’t eat it, I’ll have to share it with classmates.”
“I thought girls nowadays didn’t cook…” she mumbled as she took the sushi. “How come everyone around me seems to know how to cook?”
“What about Xinya?”
“Oh, she… probably only knows how to make instant noodles.”
Mentioning Yan Xinya suddenly made Ning Chu feel confident about her culinary skills.
At least she could whip up some fried rice. Not that it was gourmet or anything, but at least it was edible.
As for the food that Yan Xinya made? She had tasted her strawberry pasta, spicy scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and banana mush rice… If this girl wanted to learn to cook, she should really get her cooking philosophy straightened out first.
Too many bizarre ideas floating around gave off a prank vibe, but she at least couldn’t eat any of that.
After taking the bus to school and parting ways with Nana, Ning Chu headed to her classroom alone.
“Where’s Wen Yang?”
Yan Xinya looked shocked to see her by herself.
“He went to the Medical Room.”
Ning Chu tried to walk normally toward Yan Xinya, but the pain in her thigh made her movements a bit awkward.
“Wow, tough girl!”
Yan Xinya observed Ning Chu’s unnatural footsteps, and her head instantly jumped to conclusions. Her wolf ears perked up. “You’re just walking oddly; is he really getting admitted to the hospital?!”
Lily looked on in admiration, “That’s impressive~”
Ning Chu shot each of these two girls a look and then pouted as she took a seat, defending herself, “It’s the Medical Room!”
“That’s still pretty amazing~ You took down someone as strong as Wen Yang just like that!”
“……”
Her face turned red, and she stammered, unsure of how to explain.
Was she supposed to just spill the truth that Wen Yang just bumped into her? But who in their right mind would say that out loud?
If she didn’t clarify, they’d just think she was too easy.
Nana was better; that vampire might be curious, but at least she wasn’t this blunt.
“Stop talking nonsense.” Ning Chu snapped at Yan Xinya, then flopped on the desk, covering her ears with her hands. “Leave me alone!”
“Wow, Ning Chu’s in a bad mood today, did Wen Yang disappoint her?” Yan Xinya asked Lily.
Lily nodded thoughtfully.
Disappointed? Give me a break! Wen Yang could outmuscle almost all the female characters in any book! And that was in real life!
You think you’re… never mind.
Ning Chu rolled her eyes in silence, too lazy to argue anymore.
Even if she could explain it all, Yan Xinya and Lily wouldn’t pass up the chance to tease her.
“Instead of worrying about me and Wen Yang, you girls should consider your own single-status issues.”
“My dear Lily is so well-behaved, cute, pretty, and charming; she’s definitely not lacking in admirers~ Right, Lily?”
Lily turned her head away without a word, ignoring Yan Xinya.
“Morning.”
Wang Jie entered the classroom alone and greeted Ning Chu, then took a seat at the corner of the same row, creating a four-seat distance from the girls.
“Where’s Shao Qing?”
“He can’t get out of bed.”
“Tsk~ It’s almost finals, while others are cramming, he’s just lounging around~”
Ning Chu breathed a sigh of relief. If Shao Qing was around to drag her down with him, that would be quite the blessing in disguise.
Wang Jie used to be somewhat chubby, but after a month, he had slimmed down noticeably, looking more like a hangover disaster gone too far.
She seriously suspected he was dating a succubus!
Too impressive.
Wang Jie had been forced to start working out and joined a fitness group, though the effects weren’t that obvious yet.
After sizing him up, Ning Chu turned her attention back to Yan Xinya, “Xinya~ Are you confident about failing?”
“Ah? No way, I won’t fail, I’ve got Lily teaching me~”
“I don’t buy it; you’re definitely going to fail!”
Yan Xinya, who seldom paid attention in class, didn’t inspire confidence in Ning Chu compared to an actual husky.
