300. Innocent Boy Zhang Shaoqing
“To go on a date, you need to dress sharp! Do you understand?!”
“Still wearing a down jacket?! You look like a penguin! Take it off, take it off!”
As soon as the afternoon exam ended, a group stormed into the Boys’ Dormitory to stir up excitement.
Ning Chu had initially planned to head back to her rental apartment to study for the upcoming exams, but she couldn’t contain her gossiping desires and dragged Wen Yang along with her, bouncing joyfully.
She sat backwards in her chair, elbows resting on the back, chin in hand, and watched Zhang Shaoqing flounder like a clothes hanger, laughing uncontrollably.
It was her first time seeing Zhang Shaoqing so messy yet obedient.
“Aren’t you a rich second-generation? Where’s all your money? Just these few outfits?”
“Spent it on games…”
Yan Xinya had sneakily climbed over the wall to enter the Boys’ Dormitory and was already familiar with her surroundings. Hands on her hips, she frowned at Zhang Shaoqing’s wardrobe: “Don’t waste the opportunity I worked hard to set up for you! If you miss today, the next chance might be a month later.”
“By the time the new semester starts, Teacher Qian might even be married!”
“Is it really that exaggerated?” Zhang Shaoqing instantly got nervous.
“Otherwise what! Teacher Qian is already twenty-five! You bet she’ll be pushed into blind dates during the New Year!”
The school’s requirements for ordinary lecturers weren’t too high; a graduate degree was enough. But even so, Teacher Qian was six years older than Zhang Shaoqing—perfect for snuggling up to a couple of golden bricks!
“How about this, wear less, skip the cotton coat and down jacket.”
“It’s snowing outside,” Zhang Shaoqing protested fiercely. “What if I freeze to d*ath?!”
“Ten degrees isn’t that cold! Do you want style or warmth?”
“This…”
Yan Xinya picked out a white turtleneck sweater and shoved it into his arms: “Put it on. If you don’t have great clothes, at least wear something clean. That’ll do.”
“How about a black jacket, too?”
“Don’t wear those baggy sweatpants! You look totally unenergetic!”
Zhang Shaoqing was helplessly directed, while Little Wolf Girl sparkled with excitement; if only she put the effort she used to ship couples into studying, she’d definitely score a 985!
Ning Chu turned to Wen Yang and asked, “Were you also dragged around like a clothes hanger by her back then?”
“Not really, I guess?”
“But she certainly has a lot of bright ideas,” she scrunched her nose, recalling how she had freaked out when Wen Yang confessed to her in the mall, egged on by Yan Xinya.
“Should I prepare some roses?” Zhang Shaoqing, all dressed up, shivered slightly.
“No! I’m just taking Qian Qian shopping; she doesn’t even know you’ll be there! Don’t scare her!”
Ning Chu couldn’t help but ask, “Are you guys already friends?”
“Of course! Best friends!”
“Wow…”
Little Wolf Girl was indeed pretty socially anxious, but she was the type to warm up quickly, being cute and lovable while also being able to pet puppies—most people couldn’t resist her charm.
Yan Xinya had devised a strategy, guiding Zhang Shaoqing step by step: “Just be a good boy for now, first act as a background prop, carry our bags, get familiar a few times, and don’t rush.”
“Why not just confess outright?”
“What confess?!” She exploded at that, “You don’t know her well enough! Why would she say yes? You need to build some feelings first!”
Ning Chu chimed in, “Xinya probably just wants you to help carry bags.”
“Don’t talk nonsense!”
Zhang Shaoqing looked a bit awkward, nervously tugging at his shirt hem, staring into the mirror for ages, fixing his hairstyle.
He turned to Wen Yang: “How did you guys end up together back then?”
Wen Yang pondered before replying, “We lived in the same dorm and spent all the time together, so love blossomed over time, I guess?”
“Blossomed what?”
Ning Chu exploded with a kick.
“Come on! I need to go out on a date soon!”
“Dated nothing! You’re just the bag carrier!”
Zhang Shaoqing hurriedly brushed off his pants, saw it was still dusty, and raced to the balcony for a towel to wipe it.
“Time’s running out.”
“Coming, coming!”
He rushed back, eyeing the mirror one last time: “Ning Chu, do I look handsome?”
“Outta here!”
At Yan Xinya’s insistence, he finally left the dorm with a face full of anxiety.
Ning Chu watched the dorm door close behind him, muttering, “This guy, usually so carefree, but when it comes to chasing girls he turns into a pure little boy.”
“First time seeing him like this,” Wen Yang leaned against the desk, arms crossed, grinning, “Looks like he really likes her.”
“Well, I think he might need to be a bit bolder; being himself might be better.”
“How so?”
“Just a feeling…”
I can’t just say the setting in the book dictates that Qian Qian likes more assertive men and maybe has a bit of a hidden submissive streak, right? Or that she might have Stockholm syndrome from falling for the villain.
Zhang Shaoqing being sweet and obedient might not cut it; acting more like his usual self, teasing and cheekily throwing jabs, might just work even better.
Ning Chu stretched and looked up at Wang Jie, who was glued to his computer playing games.
This guy stayed cooped up playing games all day, somehow managed to snag a girlfriend but didn’t know how to break a sweat for his health.
“Hey, Wang Jie, let me know what happens when he gets back, okay?”
“Sure.”
Wen Yang tilted his head: “So are we heading back now?”
“Yep! Let’s go back and continue studying! I need to hit the hay early tonight to recharge for tomorrow’s exam!”
Looking at Ning Chu’s motivated expression, he scoffed: “You said that last night too, but you ended up sleeping at midnight and could barely wake up in the morning.”
“It’s fine! If I really can’t sleep, I have a backup plan!”
“Backup plan?”
Wen Yang noticed a sudden flush on the face of his little succubus.
Unlike the red from the cold air, this shy blush made her cheeks especially tempting—so tempting that it made one want to gobble her up!
“How about we eat at the cafeteria first?” Ning Chu stepped out of the dorm, trying to shift the topic.
“What backup plan?”
But Wen Yang was curious and pressed on, especially with that rosy flush lighting up her face.
Ning Chu stammered, unsure if she should reveal her discovery about her succubus traits to Wen Yang.
Her seemingly flirtatious eyes scanned the surroundings before she tiptoed closer to Wen Yang, speaking in a voice as tiny as a mosquito: “If you eat enough, you’ll be really energetic the next day.”
She felt like this explanation was just a ruse to trick him into giving her food.
“Huh?” Wen Yang was momentarily taken aback, unable to process it.
Due to all the revision, it had been days since he and Ning Chu had any close interactions.
He suddenly felt a surge of emotions—it was the pheromones from the awakening succubus body affecting him.
Wen Yang calmly closed up his coat, buttoning it up; he had worn his coat for this moment to avoid awkwardness.
He had already figured out the mechanisms of a succubus’s body and understood Ning Chu’s current state.
“Got it. I’ll treat you to milk tonight.”
“Pervert!”
“???”
Wasn’t it you who drove this train first?
