Trapped in Paradise – Chapter 284

301. Late-night Snack

“I wonder how things are going over there with Shaoqing.”

After finishing her writing, Ning Chu logged into the back end of the novel website to upload the latest chapter. She raised an eyebrow and asked, “Could you send Shaoqing a message to check in?”

“If I ask, he definitely won’t tell the truth.”

Her expression froze for a second, then she rested her chin on her hand, gazing at the screen with eager eyes.

This chapter didn’t have any highlights, so what title should she give it?

After a moment of thought, she lazily typed “Daily Life” just to get it over with.

Not like any readers care what the title is anyway.

Wen Yang got up from the sofa and leaned against the table beside Ning Chu, handing her his phone. “Well, not looking too optimistic.”

Ning Chu glanced at the chat between Wen Yang and Zhang Shaoqing and muttered, “Looks like he’s been ignored, but that’s about right.”

If she could, she definitely hoped Shaoqing’s pursuit would succeed, but if it didn’t, she wouldn’t mind being the peanut gallery.

“Poor guy, I told you he was just a bag carrier, and he didn’t believe me.”

She could just picture him looking all earnest, carrying bags while trailing behind two girls, unable to exchange a single word with Qian Qian.

Online, Shaoqing might manage to strike up a conversation with Qian Qian under the guise of asking for advice, but offline, these two were complete strangers.

Ning Chu stretched, grabbed a book stacked on the table, and said, “I’ll just go over what I need to study for next year’s exams, so I don’t forget.”

She had been reviewing a lot lately; this afternoon’s calculus exam went relatively well, but she was worried about the morning’s English.

Those vocabulary words? Just enough to struggle through a little bit; the final English essay just about drained her entire word bank, eking out only two sentences.

If she failed one subject, she could manage, but not two!

“I’m going to take a shower,” Wen Yang glanced at the clock. “If you’re still up at ten, you should sleep; you said you’d go to bed early today so you won’t be tired tomorrow.”

“Okay.”

For some reason, she was a night owl, full of energy at night, but come morning, it was like dragging a zombie out of bed.

During today’s English exam, she nearly dozed off!

Ning Chu leaned back in her chair, propping her long legs up on the table, setting the book and Wen Yang’s notes across her thighs, and flipped through casually.

“How many times have I gone over this…?” After quickly skimming, Ning Chu sighed, “I already went through university once, and now I have to do it all over again.”

Unfortunately, her major was different, so she had to relearn all the core courses.

With a heavy sigh, she put the book down after less than ten minutes and flopped onto her bed.

She covered herself completely with her quilt, curled up her legs, and sent a message to Zhang Shaoqing: “What’s going on? Heard you haven’t talked to Teacher Qian?”

“Bullshit! I’m having a late-night snack with Qian Qian. No time to chat with you.”

Almost immediately, she got a reply.

Ning Chu nearly burst out laughing; if Zhang Shaoqing were really with Qian Qian, he wouldn’t reply so quickly!

“Be a little more forward! Don’t just stand there like a bump on a log.” She decided to impart some wisdom on Zhang Shaoqing. “From what I can see, Teacher Qian seems to like a guy who’s a bit more proactive!”

“Get lost! You’re just making things worse!”

Ning Chu shot back a middle finger emoji; she was just trying to help, and this guy deserved to be single!

“Aren’t you the one who said you were studying?”

Wen Yang emerged from the bathroom, wearing only his shorts and no shirt, unfazed by the cold air.

“I’m tired!”

“That shower water was way too hot.” He plopped down on the edge of the bed, complaining, “Almost burned off my hair when I stepped in.”

“Really? I thought it was perfect.”

Ning Chu shrugged off the little details and yawned, reminding him, “Turn off the lights; I’m going to bed early.”

“Okay.”

The room fell into darkness as she plugged in her phone to charge, shifting positions to give Wen Yang some space. Facing away from him, she closed her eyes and yawned repeatedly. “Don’t touch me; I’m super sleepy.”

Wen Yang remained silent, lying down obediently and tugging at the quilt that Ning Chu had squished beneath her. “Give me some blanket.”

With the weather turning cold, he was waking up frozen every morning while Ning Chu was bundled up like a chicken wrap.

Ning Chu relinquished half of the quilt, leaning back against her pillow, and felt her eyelids growing heavy. Faint sounds from outside—cars, people—gradually lulled her into a haze of half-sleep. Just then, she was startled awake by a soft snore.

She had caught a bit of a cold and had started snoring because of her stuffy nose.

Adjusting her position, she grabbed onto Wen Yang’s arm to use as a pillow and found a comfortable spot to snooze again.

But in that half-asleep state, her own snoring jolted her awake once more.

Ning Chu, slightly annoyed, realized that after two such wake-ups, her brain was now all alert. She opened her eyes, completely losing the sleepiness.

End early, rise early; she had to review again in the morning to avoid dozing off during the exam.

But the more anxious she got, the less she could fall asleep, feeling hot and restless.

“Wen Yang, are you asleep?”

After half an hour of attempts, Ning Chu quietly asked, “Are you awake?”

“Yeah…” Wen Yang mumbled, half-asleep, rolling over to pull Little Succubus into his arms.

“Wake up for a late-night snack~”

“……”

“Come on—sleeping so early!”

Ning Chu, feeling utterly defeated, grabbed her phone to read a novel, trying to rekindle her drowsiness.

But by midnight, she still felt wide awake and even wanted to write a couple of chapters for her own novel.

“Oh no, tomorrow is the exam!”

“If I faint from exhaustion and fail, I’ll have to retake the exams next semester!”

Did she really need to implement Plan B?

Ning Chu abruptly sat up and turned to Wen Yang lying next to her.

But Wen Yang was already fast asleep! Plan B was off the table…

However, Wen Yang was stirred awake by her sudden movement. He yawned and asked, “You’re still up?”

“I can’t sleep!”

He rolled over, trying to go back to sleep, but suddenly, something soft was pressing down on him.

“Wen Yang~”

Wen Yang opened his eyes, only able to make out Ning Chu’s outline in the dark.

“Don’t mess around; I’m really tired.”

“Are you really tired?”

He could clearly hear the shyness in her voice, his body unwillingly waking up, a bit affected by her succubus aura.

Wen Yang couldn’t help but chuckle, “I was sound asleep.”

“It’s fine, once you’re tired, you’ll sleep even better.”

Ning Chu’s face turned bright red. Taking advantage of the darkness to be bold, she brushed against Wen Yang and moved her little head downward.

“What are you doing?” Wen Yang asked, flustered.

“Just implementing Plan B.”

“Huh?”

“Having a late-night snack.”

“Hiss~”
